I dunno. I maxed out my settings in the card settings. Only difference I could see between lowest to highest was in the background. Distant objects were less burly compared to closer objects.

I'm actually fine with - hell, I'd go so far as to say I'd even like - some sort of pet content (they're a big part of many people's lives so it would feel weird not to have them at all) but I think it could easily be handled as a GP at this point rather than a full expansion. Throw in a few each types of dogs and cats, a couple handfuls worth of new items, a few new interactions and maybe a new skill or two and maybe a gerbil cage and a fish tank and I think they have a good base until they flesh out parts of the game that more desperately need attention.
After we get Go to School, a new Generations, a new Seasons, something downtown themed (with map sizes that aren't a fucking travesty), and maybe a couple of original ideas then they can start putting out expansions dedicated to building your own horse academy or making your dog a pet actor or whatever.

There's a v-sync issue that could fry your rig, but there is a TS3 booter on the old TS3 g-drive website that takes care of that.
Today, even a fairly middling rig (even modern integrated GPUs aren't that terrible) can run it fairly well. TS4's better optimized, to be sure, but there's much, much, much less material to play around with.
That being said... is there anything new to do in TS4? I haven't touched it since synchronized dancing stuff.

Its simple enough once you understand minimaps. It was a little harder on me because I used GIMP 2 to do all my retextures, and I had to deal with plug-ins. If you have any experience in Photoshop you'll probably have an easier time export/saving textures.
Basically all you do is open up Sims 4 Studios, create new mesh, pick out the base game mesh you want, it exports it and brings it up in S4S. There you just export the textures and slap the image you want on the posters.
If it gives you to much grief I'd gladly do it for you. Just give me your resource images.

It A is off by default because ALOT of people hate it. That or do more science stuff. I know the first time I wanted to try out abduction it took a week ingame and that was with working with science stff stuff.

Its the same process. It can be a bitch now and then with images being warped by the mesh or the chest of the sim. Nothing a little tweaking can't fix.
But is the same process as making posters. S4S>Create Mesh>Choose a Shirt>Export Textures>Slap what you want on them>Import>Save
