DS3 wiki says that a +10 Refined broadsword will surpass other Straight Swords like a fully upgraded and infused Lothric Knight Sword.

Choose Cleric as your starting class and just pump ATT, FAI, VIG, and a some END. Pick up the Astora Straight Sword and make it Raw. Later on, you can just buff it so it does decent damage against lategame enemies.
You could also pair LCK with FAI (Which, coincidentally, the Cleric class is optimal for.) and use Anri's Straight Sword instead. That way you can stack regen in many ways:

>Blessed Shield
>ASS
>Sun Princess Ring
...and still be able to use a hard-hitting weapon that also has the benefit of being able to be buffed with Lightning Blade, Dark Blade, or Darkmoon Blade.
If you don't want to invest in LCK, you can just go with a Raw weapon of your choice. It's up to you.

Witch's Locks are fantastic, but having another weapon around will help you in situations where the locks aren't sufficient.
If you're willing to keep a buff attuned, you can just grab any Raw weapon that you like and have the stats for. Alternatively, you can just grab a weapon you like and make it Chaos/Dark.

also find It kind of sad that dex weapon dominate as melee backup for all casters. Pyro and INT gain cast speed with dex and miracles are best with dex cause of darkmoon spamming.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing has been accepted in RPGs for pretty much decades, and completionists will put up with anything to get a platinum trophy/100% completion/whatever.
One of the things that I really liked about BB was how you never had to farm for weapons or armor.
Although you still had to farm for blood vials, which is shitty. But at least there were pretty consistent ways of getting them.

I'd change Hodricks set to not have all those fucking rags. Its neat armor underneath it. Either that or just put the Herald helms visor down.
For weapon I'd change the Black Knight Swords base strong attack back to that hilarious poke. I know its still got it, but now its the second attack in its strong combo, which somehow isnt as fun as winding that thing up with perfect timing to blast an enemy across the room right as they reach you.
For spell I'd make Farron Hail more like DaS2's Soul Spear Barrage. More poise damage so there's actually a tactical reason to ever use it. As it is it does basically no impressive damage or stagger, its a bit shit.

Even outside of the end-game, BB was still RNG farming city, because the devs are idiots and made chunks only purchasable via Insight. So unless you wanted to go to NG+, you had to farm the Upper Cathedral Ward for wolves. And the rate there is as bad as proof farming, even with the discovery runes.
