Because a lot of times, when you're new at making games, its easy to get egotistical and emotional about it. And it's also extremely easy to brag about all the features your game is gonna have before you've even done it.
When people criticize you or your game, it's easy to make it get personal. That's why devs sometimes have meltdowns.
I'm not excusing it, I'm just providing a explanation.
I think the best devs are often very objective about their game but still loves it and tries their best to improve it or they have other people go through the piles of crap on their forums and bring back the real solid feedback, good and bad so they can improve their game. That way, the dev can remain distant and not get tempted into talking back to the complainer, which makes them just look worse.
