You have an excessively large number of options for movement in Melee and Sm4sh has some crappier mechanics like limitless air-dodging, shorter hitstun to make custom combines less prevalent, no edge hogging, the ledge snap for easier returns to the stage, and no carrying momentum from running into jumps. Did you not watch anything from yesterday you retard? Aside certain match ups and characters (MUCH LIKE IN MELEE) the game moves at a fairly decent pace. Games were ending in 3~ minutes during Top 32 yesterday. The only time it's slow is during low level play (Also like in Melee) and when campy characters are playing like Rosalina or Sonic (Much like how Melee slows to a crawl when Puff is playing or when Shiek dittos are on)

You know, reading all of this, I really just wished Sakurai had embraced the technicality and speed of Melee when making Brawl, and to that extend Smash 4.
It's just kind of sad to think about. Today, we have completely different games with completely different fanbases, all at each others throats. But it wasn't always like this. Back then, before 2008, there was no "Melee player" or "Brawl/Smash 4/PM player". Melee was different from 64, yes, but it was ultimately a refinement and successor to its fast paced combo gameplay, which is why 64 tourneys were always niche in comparison to Melee's. We were all just Smash Bros. fans, united at one, playing the current and better installment at the time, waiting for the next game, just like all the other FGC people do. But Sakurai ended up permanently damaging that notion, by feeling Melee was "too hard" and thus set out to make Brawl a completely different game, and now that fanbase has evolved into the Sm4sh playerbase.
I like Smash 4 but honestly I just wish it could of built upon the foundation Melee left behind (Just like what Melee did with Smash 64's gameplay) so we could all just be united under one flag like most fighting game series. We wouldn't of had to have two different Smash games at EVO at once.

Sure it's okay but other games are way better. As I said previous post it's also the same goddamn players for years now dominating. The other games have dominant players to but nothing like Melee. That to me proves Melee isn't really that great of a competitive game.
