Going to Japan in 2 weeks. Going to watch Kingsglaive the day after I land. Stoked as fuck for this whole FFXV thing. Feels more FF than FF has felt for 10 years in my opinion.
I don't want to be around people at a theater, but I want to watch it.
I don't think anyone cares about the story in Final Fantasy games anymore. Everything else is more interesting.

Funny, for me it's the opposite. The time between the release of Final Fantasy XIII and the rebranding to Final Fantasy XV felt like an entire lifetime, but from then 'til now has gone by way faster in my opinion.
It feels like the Uncovered even was last week or something to me.

After FFX, I just kind of stopped caring. FF11 was online, FF12 was forgettable, FF13 had no characters I cared about, and the many spinoffs just...did nothing for me.
But this new one, man, it sure seems like they learned not to feel invincible and gave a fuck.

The sources are fine. An example of movies that had limited released and did better than Kingsglaive are like the Girls und Panzer movie or the Madoka movies. It ain't great, but it ain't bad. Wait for the physical/digital release to see if it really bombs. And frankly, it may have a long tail since XV players may pick up the movie after playing.

Having played both demos, my thoughts on what we've been shown and what we've been able to play are actually perfectly summed up by what someone else said about Destiny:

It's the war between nations and crystals ain't it? If they didn't remove the invasion entirely from the game, man. I'm not one of those VersusXIII rampant fans, but at least unlike the new story about Regis sending off Noct on his wedding, make it that Regis force Noctis to leave the country during an invasion. Something along that line. Make Noctis involve in the invasion just a little bit, but I think the only way they can make the sequnce is by going linear, thats what Tabata feared I suppose, due to the backlash of XIII. But come on, market the game as open world, but hide the initial linear part if they really are afraid.

Gonna watch Brotherhood when it comes with my Deluxe Edition, unless I can find it at a nearby cinema. Brotherhood is really meh. Low quality, short, and ultimately pointless.

It kinda baffles me that people still say they are excited for the story and that it looks good so far when Tabata himself has admitted and it's been shown the story has basically been dumbed down to adhere to age ratings and has become more and more generic because he wants to appeal to casuals rather than actually make a good fucking story.
I find that most of these people will straight up admit to only recently hearing about the game though, so it probably actually seems good to them when it could have been so much better. Kinda hard to miss something that you never even knew about I guess.
It might also be because game stories have been shit lately, so they probably think XV's story is god-tier in comparison.

Baffles me too. I went from being really hype for this game since 2008 to now just wanting to use it as a time-waster towards the end of the year.

From what I know, the only thing they remove to cater to age rating is the “god of death” worshiping. Probably just a few lines and minor plot are removed. Other than a few known re-writes (Kingsglaive and Luna), we've yet seen anything from VersusXIII days. Honestly, do you seriously expect a story heavy game hoing to reveal too much of the story?

Probably unfinished work. From the Regalia Type-F trailer, right the end, the waterfall effect doesn't look like the ones from the Altissia ones. I'm seriously hoping they’d fix it near release, but an interview kinda make me nervous. It's about them saying they're tinkering so much of the engine using multiple softwares that they didn't know what the engine is even called now. *raughs in japanese*

And in XV, they’ve already shown Noctis and the crew going back to Insomnia wearing Kingsglaive uniform. They've shown Luna waking up Leviathan. They've shown Ardyn putting his foot on the thrown. Honestly, do you need more? They've yet to show who the fuck is Cor and why he didn't age too much since his days with Regis. And why hime-cut girl has not aged. What's up with the dogs. How will the villains be potrayed in the game. Shit, there's still a lot of question to be answered. And that is enough for me to get excited. I'm much more worried about how will the story flow feel. Vast open fields are gonna tire some people. Hope they match the story pacing and exploration well.

The intro is really bad. I even have to power through of it until I finally get the hang of the game. Really hated the fuck out of constantly changing party members because the plot demands it. I think SE could have done a much better job with the game, they just didn't for some reason. I mean the effort they put into the models is ridiculous considering that they don't even look good. And the effort in basically everything else is barely apparent, the game looks dated.
Where was development even aimed at aside from the high poly hair.? I'm curious to find out when the game comes out, as of now it just looks like your typical Korean MMO but with an arguably worse art style.

Seeing how pretty XIII was for a PS3 game, I'd have to agree with you. I guess their inexperience making an open world game is really showing. Luminous is really a bitch to work with. Probably they overestimate the power of the PS4 since this is the first FF for the current console gen. Hopefully (if there are any) on the next installments, they have enough experience and hopefully by then they ditch Luminous for UE or continue tinker with Luminous to work for this current gen.
Kingsglaive will be free to stream in the near future.

Except Noctis wouldn't have left under any circumstances. This is a guy who, even after his country got nuked and he himself got all the death sentences under the sun, still goes around destroying Niflheim bases practically single-handedly and says that Niflheim should be afraid of him and not the other way around. Had he been in Insomnia during the invasion, he'd have died fighting there.
