It's usually Road hogs who see me and get a good snipe on me with the hook. And this is the case with all the healers. As Lucio I can't go fast to avoid easily, as my team needs healing. As Mercy, If I'm not attached to Pharah he can usually out predict my movements. And while Zenyatta can defend himself against most things that usually kill me, his health pool is too poor without a Torj providing armor until his buff rolls in. But the worst is when Junkrat blind-fires and weakens me and flankers swoop in to finish me off.

The self-heal is godly and Roadhog on defense is probably the closest thing the game has to a hard carry. Dance in and out of cover harassing with M2 and keeping your health topped up, and hook+assassinate a low health hero every six seconds. I play Mercy and I look after myself. You don't need to keep your reticle on your heal target, which means your head should be constantly on a swivel looking for flankers. You should try to position yourself so you're less exposed and have an escape. If you see danger approaching then react to it, pull out your blaster and defend yourself.

It's ridiculous how wide the matchmaking gap is, the system doesn't want you to wait so it just throws people in even if they are 20 levels below you. Whenever I do get a game of all 68-80 players its an amazing experience, everyone knows what to do and it's always a fun game. After that I go straight into one with rank 55-63 players, most of which who main DPS heroes and have no idea how to play anything else, and it's a complete shitshow where no one wants to listen and no one will switch to useful heroes.

Healing is a bitch role. If you enjoy healing, you are literally a submissive bitch. Tanking is not a bitch role, but it requires a certain amount of masochism to enjoy being a punching bag. Neither of these things are for me, nor most people. The VAST majority of people prefer DPS because that's whats actually fun. Doesn't help that 'tanking' and 'healing' tend to be low-skill activities too, though this varies from game to game.

If your team's support is garbage and no one will swap to the 2nd support slot (despite double support being by far the best composition possible) it's up to you to cover for it. Believe it or not, you'll be contributing a lot more by healing your team than getting your K:D up. You just don't get flashy applauses from the game for saving your teammates from near-death.
Genji is the most vexing motherfucker. He can reflect/dash escape from McCree so long as he has full health, and because he's jumping everywhere Roadhog winds up hooking him to his side or behind half the time and can't finish the job. The high interp and constant animation transitions into double jump, wall climb etc. make his movement path really janky and hard to click on. And once he goes EUGENE OK OK you know he's about to run a train dashing and slashing starting with your Mercy and there's fuck all you can do about it.
The only counter to a good Genji is two Winstons, and they still won't be fast enough to stop him from getting 2 people with his Q.

Discord Orb the highest priority target and get shots on them yourself for a shit-ton of dommage in addition to your team having their hand held on who to aim at. Harmony orb whoever needs heals and otherwise keep it on whoever can use it the best such as a tank and keep them in your LoS. Stick with the team. Also, only pick him if you already have another support. He can't keep up heals by himself but his ability to debuff the enemy as well as act as a backup concentrated heal is exceptionally underrated and underappreciated. Your ult is an exceptional pushing tool and also counters nearly anything that isn't a huge burst of DPS, and can also save your own ass as a panic button if necessary.

Widowmaker can work on offense on certain maps. But you can't just sit back and try to snipe people. If you're a good Tracer just stick with Tracer. Unless you're playing with a team of friends, most normal people in this game are so fucking bad that there's no point trying to hold their hand as tank or support, you're better just killing the entire enemy team yourself. They can't take damage if their enemies are dead.

Quickplay. Unfortunately, even if I am lucky enough to get a flanker bad enough to die to me, they're rarely deterred. Also actually getting the team to notice is an exercise in futility. I can't count the times I've escaped to the other sides of my teammates, and the enemy just walks right through them. Quite often I get to watch them die afterwards.
The only real way to survive if they're not awful is hope the Pharah is close enough to escape to.
If you play Lucio, try to save your ult for when Junkrat or Pharah does theirs. There is also the last push when everyone is together.

I'm holding up my shield to let my offense members attack safely and mow down the enemy team. If I pull back to go chase flies, then they lose a tank and die as a result of it allowing the enemy team to push. A good Genji won't get close to me unless it's to dash the Mercy, letting him shuriken her from long range. Even from longer range, a Tracer can just pick at us until her ult charges and then dive in and bomb me then wrecks the Mercy. A Pharah is exactly what you said it's like to deal with.
So if I move my shield to exclusively defend the Mercy, that kills four of my teammates. So really instead of screaming about peeling Mercys should be FUCKING MOVING OR USING THAT PISTOL THAT I THINK HALF OF THEM FORGET THEY HAVE.

Using Sound Barrier for Junkrat's ultimate is kinda risky. 200 HP characters will still die to the tire if you use it too early, you have to have the barrier on them within 1.25 seconds of the tire blowing them up or it's all for nothing. Pharah's ultimate will also rip through the additional health most of the time. It's better than nothing against those ultimates, but I think aside from Graviton Surge, the sound barrier is better for making pushes than trying to counter ultimates.

I honestly hate having Mercy on my team now. In the lower MMR it was great to have her healing but now her lack of damage means we're fighting 5 on 6 if the enemy team doesn't have a Mercy, and the enemy team almost always has a Genji that just zips right past our team and goes for Mercy, and she has nothing she can do to fend him off. And even if they're not getting fucked by flankers they just never seem to do enough healing to be worth a damn.
I had a team with a Mercy recently so I decided I'd go Zenyatta so we could have two healers. I took the gold medal instantly and never lost it the entire match. She wasn't even getting targeted either.
