Fleuret literally means foil, Ravus is the foil to Noctis, and he also has a deep seated hatred for Regis and by extension Noctis.
He also tried on the ring of Lucii which is why his arm got fucked, he may have gained some sort of powers from that too.

Ravus has a clear personal reason which connects deeper to both the protagonist and the heroine of the game.
And it's not just their mother dying as a result of Regis drawing Niflheim troops towards them, there is other plotpoints such as why Ravus even tries on the Lucii ring on in the first place. Not to mention in the 2013 trailer he's talking about the world ending which is in reference to the plague of the stars, the very thing that Luna is trying to prevent.

In fact they're the best jap dev at the moment - their only failure is that it takes them a long ass time to develop games. Otherwise they're still good in both developing and publishing games and actually pour moneys at good AAA titles instead of going full mobile or making half-baked games.
The fact that they greenlit Nier: Automata when the original did rather poorly and they invited Platinum to develop it already says much.
Also, FFXV will probably be great. Most of the footage looks really good and ED was one of my most played games last year.

SE is surviving on name alone. They haven't released a decent FF, scratch that, they haven't released a decent game since forever now.
FF X was the last decent FF and it had major problems but still nailed one or two things.
XII failed because the re organization of the company and the new direction killed what otherwise had the potential to be the awesome.
And not only that... since they absorbed Enix they have been fucking up their games too.
VP2 and SO3 where good enough. Yes yes, they fucked up some story aspects with all that "it's all a game" and "time traveling" stuff but the gameplay and characters and art design and music where awesome.
But SO4 was a fucking disgrace, and SO5 doesn't look very promising either.
Not to mention all those sequels, prequels, movies and now remakes. Creatively speaking square is dead.
And the actual direction doesn't help them at all. They need to change course again or fucking burn.

According to the director the "open world" maybe look like an open world in the sense that you can go anywhere, but that the way its actually designed and used is like the old map screens from SNES final fantasy games. Its mainly there to give a sense of scale and to connect explorable points of interests together.
As for progression through the open world, you move through it and unlock new regions as the story demands, think more like Ocarina of Time than like GTA. But with the scale of the world maps from older SNES RPGs.

Again, that depends. It's not about them dressing alike as in what that implies. Outfit is a key element in character design, it reflects where the characters come from and aspects of their personalities.
A knight armor may represent which kingdom and what rank is a character. How that armor is kept may be useful to determine battle experience or personal hygiene.
Not to mention that characters that come from different places have more chances to not get along which is a good thing because that way secondary characters are not extension of the main characters, nay disagree and may have internal conflicts.
Being friends and living on the same kingdom limits those options. Sure, each of them have a perspective on the kingdom they live and may argue and whatnot but at the end of the day they'll still be Noctis friends if only because the game won't take a MC from your party having given you only 4... at least not permanently.
