I honestly didn't expect anyone to know this game

Did you get it on that disc collection of games like I did? I remember getting it for Christmas. I think it had a Dig Dug clone on it with more bad voice clips.

Dude, this game is the shit.

Its about raising these creatures called Norns from eggs and interacting with them to teach their AI how to do stuff. You can even make machines out of parts and teach hem how to operate them and become self sufficient.

Its like a 2D Chao garden. Comfy as fuck

Yeah, I never played anything other than three. But this shit gets fucking complex. You can spawn in norns, the basic creatures, but as you play two other races spawn automatically, one of them is evil, the other not so much. You can instruct the creatures in specific ways to unlock new tools for interacting with them and upgrading the ship.

It also includes a pretty cool genetic splicing machine, and another machine that allows you to inject over 200 different kinds of chemicals (including cyanide and all sorts of sex hormones.)

Also is probably the best pirhanna breeding simulator I've played.

the Cave Story remake for the 3DS is an exception to your otherwise correct opinion

also, who could conceive a game where you can teach your daughter "cooking reputation"? where "cooking" and "cleaning" are important parameters of her personality? where you can see her measurements? where she can turn out to be the king's personal whore, to a sleazy club waitress, to a caring daughter, to even marrying her foster father? all of this while being mainstream.

times have changed so much. games are full of polygons but made for morons who don't know what challenge is. There is no variety because production is highly focused on taking a safe shot due to the crazy production costs.

And feminism. No more political incorrectness in games. No Honeybee Inn + Crossdressing + Being almost raped by Corneo.

Guys, i need help looking for a game.
It's a fantasy top-down RPG.
>Art style
You can only see the character's head and shoulder/hand. (since it's top-down view)
>release date
Played the game in the 90s
>game-related details
I remember there's elf, and you can choose jobs too, not too sure but i think there's thief, knight, etc.
It's grid based movement, you can move 1 square-tile at a time.
I think at some point in game, you can gamble and make money too.
>notable details
-It's not team based, you only play as ONE character.
-At the start of the game, you woke up form a blackout and you lost your memory or smth. You start in a castle with a fountain in the middle of the screen.
And if i'm not wrong, you can later get an item to walk in (on?) water and find an item inside the fountain.

I tried looking for years, and never found anything came close to the game.
So i suppose it's not one of those famous series like Ultima, or spider-web series.

Battlezone 1 and 2 and Tzar: burden of the crown for me

Battlezone was some trippy shit of a covert space war in the 70s and 80s between USA and USSR without the knowledge of the rest of humanity, using ancient alien technology that was bio-metal with some connections to Greek mythology.

Tzar had a european faction, an arab faction and a chinese/jap faction in some generic fantasy world

Maybe somebody knows which game I'm thinking of based on these vague details:

> It's a side-scrolling shooter with pre-rendered 3d graphics
> Each level had a boss at the end
> One of the weapons you can get is a projectile that bounces off of surfaces
>Level 2 is an underwater level and level 4 is a city level iirc
>I think level 4's boss is a giant preying mantis or some shit but I'm not sure
>There's a bunch of text somewhere in the main menu (probably the credits) that tells you about a cheat wherein you type in something along the lines of "pleasehelpme" in the main menu and get like 30 extra lives

This is about it. I can't remember anything else for the life of me.

I haven't tried out the new versions of Avernum 1 and 2 yet, but I did play a good chunk of Avadon. It might just be worth diving into the new versions of Avernum, man. They made the story more cohesive and the character progression system is that of Avadon, which is quite solid.

Minecraft is NOT the simple one mechanic game I am talking about. Its much more complex - you have movement in a 3D world, multiple weapons that behave differently (explosives, bow, sword, etc), multiple enemies that behave differently, some sort of physics system, things like boats and cart rails, etc.

Look at >>344963079 for example of a simple game. This is where VR is at right now. Hopefully it survives long enough to move on.

This right here was a magnificently funny to like 12 - 13 year old me university student project that L I T E R A L L Y N O O N E in all my years of posting it in these kinds of threads has EVER recognised. I think I may be the only motherfucker who ever played it. It was only ever downloadable from Fileplanet. Probably still is, really. I never actually finished it myself because the last boss fight is total "did you grind enough 2 hours ago when you last actually had the one character you go in there with who's not been in the game since then" bullshit, but everything else about it was just magnificent again, disclaimer: I was young, it might actually suck, but I don't think so.

>>
>>344952028
First ever tactics-y game I played.
>>
I remember two obscure games that I know I played but I cannot remember the name.
One was an amiga puzzle game. You were some weird geometrically shaped dude who threw coloured shapes and the goal of the game was to throw these shapes and match them.
The thrown shape could rebound of walls and I distinctly remember that if you lost your character would cry.
And if you cleared the stage some funky sound was played.

The other was a snes game I'm pretty sure.
It was the same kind of game like wc3 castle fight and sword and soldiers on steam.
Where you and the AI were positioned on opposite sides of a 2D plane and you built units that automatically walked to the other side.
There were dwarfs, wizard, elves, and the whole party.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

probably like 15 years ago i played a certain Hugo game for PC, it had 3d graphics. it had a certain grim vibe to it, the first level was taking place in some forest at night, Hugo could use some kind of whip as a weapon, if i remember correctly there were some insects as enemies. i think there was no music and the controls were kind of clunky. i can't find this game in any official sources, did any of you played it too? i'm genuinely interested, mainly because this game was kind of spooky if i think about it now.
