The graphics are in fact worse. 4U required 4Gb cards, which are expensive AND Nintendo charges an extra fee for large games sold on the eShop. MHX/Gen is 2Gb, which is considerably cheaper to manufacture and does not have the "large game" fee.

There is a distinction within the game between single player quests and quests you can play multiplayer. Monsters are better designed to deal with multiple players (to an extent). Actual progression through the game is secondary to refighting the same monsters for drops, and multiple players mitigates the grind. Monster hunter doesn't have actual levels with enemies to get through before the bosses that are trivialized even harder by having several players. The atmosphere of a Souls game is kind of ruined by always being followed by brightly coloured buddies, but everything about monster hunter's presentation promotes hunting with friends. Lastly, monster hunter's entire marketing campaign isn't tooled to promote difficulty and attract egotists and purists who would spew that sort of thing. It's all home grown here.

Here's a simple method for NA players to import the EU data needed to get their MHGen bonuses.

Place the 'filer' folder on your root. Install SaveDataFiler.cia and open it. Go to the SD tab and press A to import this ext save data (00001261). Note this shouldn't affect your other data because the US game is 00001263.
Even if you already started your save file, go under New Game and run through the Claim Extras menu. It should say the MH4U data read was successful. Then just speak to your housekeeper to claim your bonus. No need to install EUR 4U.

Let's talk armor skills. In 4U at endgame it wasn't uncommon to see someone packing 5-7 skills on their dope ass mixed set. Since this one has no G rank so less armor loaded to the gills with decoration slots what's the average skill spread you'll see on people? I love full sets but in 4U when I could get so much better shit with a mixed there was some difficult internal conflict between wanting to look good and wanting to be more powerful. It's hard to get both. I'm thinking in MHG I'm going to aim for rock piercing tetsucabra full set for charge blade and ember dinovaldo set for SNS/dual blades. Fierce tigrex full set for greatsword.
