Pizza day for me was when I was in high school and the band would sell pizza from Dominos every Friday for like $1/slice, and yeah I loved it back then but now whenever I try to eat Dominos I can barely finish a single slice. Also, at my high school we had two options for lunch, with the first being the obvious cafeteria food but the second being the gym lobby where they opened the concession and sold bags of chips and sandwiches and stuff, and I always opted for the latter.
I always wonder if other high schools had something like that or if mine was just really weird.

I have two siblings that are much younger than me (born in 1989) and are in their freshman year of college and senior year of HS. They don't really seem to have the same sort of adoration for the pop culture of old we do. Maybe they take it for granted since the internet was in full swing as soon as they were old enough to use it, a lot of the mystery was gone from vidya, and kids didn't play with toys like they did in the 80s and 90s.
I also know it's silly to say that one generation's fads and toys were better than another, but really there wasn't much as memorable. Pokemon got big when I was a kid and that remained big. The franchises that were popular in the late 80s to early 90s continued through that era, although I think the fandoms were more subdued. The economy started to suck so stuff sort of just... wasn't as inspired, maybe entertainment creators didn't step out of the box or takes risks. The world did change, and not for the better. My mother is a teacher and she always says that the kids that were born around the 9/11 time period are just "different".
Both of my siblings are really boring people. I think experiences in childhood shape a lot of who you are or who you want to be. Neither of them have the motivation to do or be anything particularly interesting.
I would like to know to what extent the pop culture and pastimes of our childhood shapes our lives. I really don't know. All I know is one brother does nothing but watch youtube lets plays all day and the other just plays whatever the new AAA game is and never takes his headset off. They don't have any real or engaging hobbies, nor do their fandoms extend to anything beyond the games themselves. It just seems weird to me. I have never heard either express any sort of feelings I associate with nostalgia.
