Setting aside the part in Undertale where you shoot, I believe there are some shmups where you don't shoot, let alone stuff like Ikaruga where not shooting ever is totally possible and even recognized by the game.
"Shmup" seems like it should be a misnomer at that point, but that doesn't change the fact that calling Undertale a bullet hell (which basically just means "shmup with a shitload of bullets to dodge") is far less accurate.

The game is easy as fuck, you have a dmall box you can move in which makes everything easier since you need to only focus about that instead of a whole screen, the number of bullets and patterns are easy, on top of that you have way too much hp and heal items a bullet hell game would never give you. I'm glad I played this game early.
It was still relatively unknown and the only people who knew about it were the very few people who played the demo.
I beat the game and I didn't want to involve my self with other people who also played it because it would take away the feeling of that game being my own special experience.
That's the great thing about niche games, and RPGmaker games in general, most of them are very unknown and when you play them you get a feeling of discovering something uncharted and ONLY YOU know about it.
Shame that feeling was gone when October came by and everyone and their mothers knew about Undertale.
Undertale was something special in the first few weeks, it was pure, but it's purity was taken away from the masses once it blew up.
You people that played the game outside of september will never understand, fucking never.

It's because he needlessly drew the bottom part of the heart in 2x2 chunks, while the top part is done with normal 1x1 pixels. There was no reason to do this. It's a needless inconsistency. Even when working with pixel art, he went out of his way to make the heart look extra pixelated on the bottom half, and then cheated on the top half. But not only that, in the area where he cheated, he didn't even form the shape of the heart correctly.
It wouldn't be such a big deal, if it wasn't the logo for his game. It's such a lazy attempt at drawing something which represents your creation. Displaying a total disregard of any aspect to visual design.

If you look at Undertale's "gameplay" you literally only control 2 things the entire time. Your character for the extremely boring walking simulator through a boring, cliche setting and story and your "Soul" for the more interactive "fights". Again if you "play it the way it was meant to be played" you perform at the very least the extremely basic almost prehistoric fundamentals of gameplay. Even the original first created video games have more competitiveness and gameplay depth than Undertale's dull "move to not get hit and cry to these poorly designed frienemies so you can spare them hooray happiness and friendship!!!" You can literally do nothing and still beat the game while in actual single player games you have to overcome obstacles such as AI enemies to win the game. Undertale does not have this, it's a pisspoor narrative attempt pretending to be a game. It was a great game, I thought - though I had the advantage of playing it before it was hugely popular. The game play was solid, albeit got boring by the Core in both Pacifist and Genocide runs. The characters were great, the humour was on the whole consistently funny, the soundtrack was bloody brilliant, the boss fights were mostly fantastic.
