Having played only the later Resident Evils (from 3 onwards), I decided to play this gem to get the original story.
Should I go with Chris or Jill? I've heard that there are a lot of differences in each's campaign, and I'm looking to experience the most complete version of the story (and don't mind the challenge, since many say that Jill's game is easier)

I'd say Jill. It'll help you get familiar with the Mansion and you have more freedom with how many items you carry alongside a great weapon Chris doesn't get.
Plus, Jill has more cutscenes then Chris so go for it.

If you play the HD remaster, then play on the TOP difficulty; that's only the Normal mode, as they added this new "very easy" mode to the re-release.

Chris is for second time playthroughs. I think Jill is overall more fun to play as though. Chris gets headshots easier but has less spaces for item management so more backtracking.

It gets harder than the original release. Just give it a little bit. The zombies get tricky to dodge.
Also pro tip, and something I wish I had known on my first playthrough:
Don't worry about the fucking gas canteen. It only clutters up your inventory is is a tacked on gimmick to make you feel like you're conserving resources. Toss it in the trunk.

Better option is to just download a save file after you finish the game first time with each character. Playing a game multiple times just for an outfit will burn you out.

I think the game just teleports corpses around if you haven't been burning them, especially if you leave them in rooms where you're not likely to go back.
i have the wii remaster lying around somewhere, never bothered playing it. it's better to buy the new re-remaster if i ever feel like playing it though 'innit

the thing that i like the most about RE3 and the beginning of 2 is the setting of raccoon city in chaos.
flames everywhere and nasty looking zombie hordes around every corner.

At least one Crimson Head will almost always spawn there since there's a corpse on the floor before you even enter that room. I've yet to successfully get to that body before I can burn it, every time I try to light it it gets up immediately.
