I stream with livestreamer and capture the video uncompressed with FRAPS. I cut the video as soon as I see something worth making a webm out of so when I'm making the webm I know whatever it is will be at the end of the latest recording. Then I use WebMConverter (used to be webm for retards) to crop and convert.
Only using one HDD is my bottleneck, so I can't record at full FPS when I'm accessing a ~4GB file.

Oh I'm positive there are more efficient ways to do it, but by the time each marathon comes around I'm only prepared to do what I've previously done. Switching over from making gifs to making webms made me miss a lot of interesting moments in a previous marathon.
A few guys also make webms and stuff, but I seem to notice a lot of moments other people miss or disregard.
Maybe by AGDQ I'll develop a more robust method to capture the stream and convert it without preposterous file sizes or awkward cuts.
