Magic The Gathering plays itself. It's a game for morons.
There's this guy who comes to the local card shop. Really nice guy, but he isn't very bright. He plays both Magic and YuGiOh and though he has been playing for a very long time, he STILL makes really lame mistakes in YuGiOh all the time. He's basically the living incarnate of Beginner AI opponents in YuGiOh video games. No joke. He'll just forget to attack or make bad attacks and not even trigger his Trap cards sometimes. He never wins in YuGiOh, even though people have helped him put together competent cancer decks. He's just that stupid.
Meanwhile, I see him winning regularly in Magic. All he is doing is playing his top-decks and overwhelming his opponents. There are no fancy plays or combos, no real thought. Just play the cards and win. Any game where I see him winning, I know it's a joke.

In Magic, you really only have one or two plays with any given hand. Lands and high cost creatures that you can't play for subsequent turns. A hand in YuGiOh can be daunting for retards because there are so many ways to play it and then you have cards that can search from the deck and summon one of 15 monsters from your extra deck, HUNDREDS of different play combinations are there and you have to strategically choose them while playing around cards you suspect your opponent has. Magic doesn't even come close.

Not even comparable. Kozmo have very defined weaknesses. Namely if you have 3K+ atk and don't die to targeting destruction, they have a hard time with you.
The only reason Kozmo has survived this long is that DDD's structure deck has been held off until 2017 and the most important of their core cards (Temujin) still hasn't been released in spite of Japan getting it back in 2014.

Happened in April. I run it in all of my decks with Instant Fusion. Though I rarely ever make it since Norden is a much better Instant Fusion target. I basically only go for Thousand-Eyes Restrict if I've already used my Norden and need to remove a monster from my opponent's field.
I've historically always been a big fan of Relinquished, but Relinquished is really weak nowadays and it's too costly and inconsistent to put fusion cards in it to make a genuine Thousand-Eyes Restrict deck.

All that stuff is GX era. There are more GOOD generic cards being released than ever before right now. Believe it or not, Pendulums actually reinvigorated a lot of playstyles, including vanilla beatdown. They were an incredibly healthy mechanical addition for the game.

It's because of pendulums. If you HFD your opponent, it destroys their shit, yeah. But, if they use pendulums, they can actually use that to reset their scales, but you can't pop yours.
If you Heavy the board, you can reset your own scales, which means you can activate pendulum effects, destroy your pendulum scales with heavy, activate two more pendulums, and then pendulum summon your destroyed pendulum scales along with whatever else you have waiting in hand/extra.

I've been thinking, wouldn't it be cool if there was an RPG based on the lore of YGO cards? I don't mean like a card game or board game RPG, but an action RPG similar to Dragon's Dogma based on the monsters, settings, and lore depicted in the artwork as opposed to the card game in itself.
A game where you explore areas based on field spells (Legendary Ocean, Clocktower Prison) and fight monsters in combat. Weapons and armor sets would be based on Equip Spells and equipment that certain monsters use (for example, Dark Magician's Staff, Gearfried's Iron Armor). A magic system with spells based off of spell/trap cards (Cast Raigeki to deal damage, or cast Spellbinding Circle to stun enemies). Imagine playing as a STR build equipped with a Fierce Knight Lance and full Black Luster Armor, traversing through a treacherous labyrinth, fighting Shadow Ghouls and Labyrinth Tanks along the way, and facing off against the Gate Guardian in a climatic boss battle.

YGO cards usually aren't very universal compared to Pokemon cards. So short answer is no, not really. Most cards that you did need 3 of usually get limited shortly after. Also our deck size requirement is a lot smaller, so even cards that are ridiculous may be tossed if the engine needs it.
Some cards that I saw 3 of very frequently when I played were Upstart Goblin, and Soul Charge as far as universal cards went. Archetypes like Shaddolls needed 3 Shaddoll Fusions before the quick play one came out. Tenki for Fire Fist or whatever archetypes could use it.

Why do you assume Queen is the only XYZ in a Madolche deck? Madolche decks are ridiculously versatile. You could literally use Thousand Eyes Restrict like 2-3 times in a single turn. Also if you side Imperial Iron Wall, literally any deck beats kozmo. Kozmo isn't placing in tournaments. Earthbound immortals, it's a dumbass gimmicky deck that isn't too consistent but if I manage to summon something, it can sometimes be pretty unkillable. It only kinda works with mound of the bound creator and monarch cards that relate to tributing though. My serious deck is mermails though
