I had some issues, too, on the East coast of the US. Heard people talking about the iOS and Android versions being up, but could never find them. I ended up grabbing an APK when the game first rolled out, and the app only showed up in my app store this morning.
If you have Android, I'd just grab the APK now, then uninstall it in favor of the app store version when you can get it so you can get automatic updates.

Not only did I just feel subconscious about playing a dumb game in public, I walked past over a dozen niggers that gave me a mean look.
When I walked past a bunch of kids they said somebody was mugged there yesterday (alley feet from where I was).
I'm kinda tall, 6', but the only way I feel safe is by standing tall with my chest puffed out and being very alert of my surrounding and literally ready to defend my life.

It's no secret that I'm a loner. I tell people this up front when they meet me, not to expect things. (By meet, I normally mean online, safely behind my PC)
Over the years my lonerism has gotten worse and worse. With that, I'm sure my gloomy nature is more than just that, but I haven't seen a doctor so I won't say I have anything wrong with me.
As to not make this a dreadfully long post, I'll sum up that I went from outgoing, semi-fit to not caring what I eat, wear, look like (For the most part). I stopped being excited for anything that was outside the borders of my home. That is, until I found out about Pokemon Go.
I've recently downloaded it and the first few hours, I sat there, staring at my character and then glancing outside. Wanting to, but afraid to actually go. Today, I went. And I didn't plan on going very far, there was a pokestop closeby and I thought that'd be a good start.
It felt so liberating to walk there, with a sense of purpose I've not felt in 10 years. (That's how long I've been sitting at home) I kept walking and went to two more pokestops. I only caught two pokemon but I loved every second of it. I smiled the entire way that I thought I'd share that with a bunch of people that I don't know.
Maybe, perhaps, a few of you are also excited but afraid. Hopefully, you'll take the same step I did. I promise you won't regret it. (Unless you don't look left 'n right before crossing with your phone infront of your face.)

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?
As a huge lifelong pokemon fan, and after spending a couple of days playing around with Pokemon Go, I have to say that quite frankly it's just a bad game.
It's sluggish and riddled with bugs. The app freezes up or gets stuck loading between screens often which forces me to manually stop the app and restart it.
The servers are constantly bogged down which makes the game experience terrible or even makes it so that you can't even play randomly.
There is almost a complete lack of a tutorial or explanation of game mechanics.
I had to google a lot about this game before I actually understood how things like Poke Stops and Gyms worked, and exactly how you can tell what pokemon are in a given area/ how likely they are to be caught.
In terms of a real pokemon experience, honestly the only way this is even a pokemon game at all is because it displays them in AR mode, which is cool at least at first, but the AR is not really that good. Half the time the pokemon will appear to be incredibly small/ drift out of frame when you move around, or appear to be hovering midair.
There are no trainer battles. No way to challenge your friends. The only battles are simplified real-time swipe/ tap fests at gyms. You don't even have to battle wild pokemon to weaken them before capture. You literally just flick the screen to toss a pokeball at it and it is captured. There is no challenge except for the fact that you phyisically have to visit different locations to catch different types of pokemon.

It's honestly IMO the biggest 'half-baked' release in a long time. Nintendo still has no idea how to win at mobile and I guarantee you Pokemon GO will be Miitomo status in a week or two.
Here let me fix this shit.
1. Delay the game until Sun/Moon release
2. Make sure the servers are not horrible shit
3. Make the game have compatibility with Sun/Moon. Like let's say you travel to a real life Gym and battle someone in Pokemon GO you get 10 points or some shit, then if you battle someone in Sun/Moon you get 100 points. Incentive to buy the main games
4. Spread out the Pokemon. Make it so you actually have to go places to get certain Pokemon, like water Pokemon on the shoreline of beaches and lakes instead of just fucking anywhere
5. Trainer AND Pokemon trainer customization. Get some accessories in there, sell them for .50$ a pop, rake in major dough. Make accessories obtainable through gameplay, but with random results and with a bit of difficulty and time investment needed
6. Make the gameplay not completely barebones. Like god damn.
There's more but those are the basics really. I feel like if this was released when it was actually ready, it would have swept the planet, but now it's just going to get some buzz for a month and then disappear.

A majority of the people playing on my campus are team red, but there are a few that were team blue that took over one of our gyms at the park in town. The reds that were at the park couldn't get it back, so another friend and I went to take it back. Turns out someone in the building by the "gym" saw us all gathered there and assumed something shady was going on, and I guess called the cops. They all showed up and laughed at us for why we were all there.
This has been a great start to Pokemon Go.
