Hey /v/, I decided to go all out, bought a Logitech G27 race wheel with clutch, gas. brake. all that along with a TH8RS Shifter.

I bought Project cars and decided to try and learn to become a race car driver, as well as learning to drive a manual with a clutch.

My question is, why are manuals so fucking slow at accelerating? When I use automatic it goes to 0-60 in under a few seconds.

But when I use manual, I put it in the max gear, and try and accelerate it goes super slowly! Not to fucking mention I have to keep my clutch pushed in almost all the way until it reaches around 50 miles per hour, or it will stall for some gay ass reason (are all racecars like this?)

Pic related, anyone can give me some tips on accelerating? I tried to push the clutch in to the max without redlinning it(that would be stupid if I redlined it would blow the engine/tranny) so I kept it around 7krpm

Anyways, any tips, it seems the R8 has the most problem with it, even though I put it in max gear it fucking accelerates so slow!

Any help?

>Are you fkin retarded?
What do you mean?

I don't keep clutch in all the way, just long enough until it wont stall, pic related around 50mph

Nice bait.
Now go.
>>
>>344143096
man it's probably just a sucky car
you did everything right, that's how i always drive and i'm always top 5 online
pick a better car
>>
>>344143096
go look at racing tutorial vids. They're sims so look at how real driving works.

oh man then i know what your problem is you're holding down break instead of clutch, being in the last gear from the get go ins't much of an issue
>>
>>344143706
no im not im using the 3rd pedal, if i push the break the car stalls

This is what you call a bait thread, isn't it?

Sounds like a troll thread, but this is pretty good if you want to learn how to actually race:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQRmYMlmdqM
>>
>>344143774
then you are already pressing break that's why your car is so slow, remember you need to press both clutch and gas at the same time

no you don't understand, you're pressing break instead of gas, switch to other pedal
>>
>>344144375

It worked for those GT Academy dudes.
>>

No I am using the ones on the far left and right, Clutch and Gas, it taking a long time to accelerate im not pressing break because if I was I would have no traction and stall

Wait hold on. You only have 3 pedals? Your bought a broken set it suppose to have 6 pedals
>>

okay now i now you are just having a gaff with me, can anyone actually explain what is going on
>>
>>344144375
a lot of racing is knowing the theory and knowing to use it. Just like they use flight simes race sims work to get you better at racing.
Wether you actually have the balls to do the real thing is a different story
>>
>>344144736
Who knows? Maybe he's an american who's never even seen manual transmission in his life.
>>
>>344144798
no,i'm really trying to help you bro, your pedal set is broken contact logitech
>>
>>344144873
okay no one has 6 pedals, some racecars I heard have 4 (one for fuel mixture control) but thats in the old ones and the pedal isnt really even a petal more of like a switch

also maybe you're thinking of an E-Break?
>>
>>344144810
Racing sims are realistic though, project cars is not. It's like saying you can race because you always win at mario kart.

Ok clearly you're new at this and don't know anything about manual cars
Manual cars have 6 pedals
Break, clutch for gear up,clutch for gear down,25%gas,50% gas and 100% gas

Wat?
Your clutch is to change gear. No need to ever keep your clutch in otherwise the you're out of gear.
From the grid, clutch in/gas on/in gear>>344143523
You're in fucking 6th at 17mph. You should be in first with the clutch up.
Fucking Americans.

yeah i think you're just "avin' a giggle" with someone who is new with cars.

Everyone is fucking laughing, idek if I want to race cars anymore, I am gonna go buy FSX I think.

Ok OP here's what you do. All gaming race wheels have vents built into them. You need to hang Black Ice over all your components. The more the better. The vents suck the FRESH™ in and unlock all of your cars true potential.
>>
>>344145208
No you should get the Gran Turismo 4
It is best in controls of all racing sims.
Clutch and gas only work in this game, Project Cars is shit and unrealistic.

i do know how to drive manual transsmission though ive done it in real life with my friends toyota
>>
>>344145950
Ok I'll finally bite anon.

When on a manual car, you start on the lowest gear and work your way up. first>>second>>third>>fourth and so on.
You also need to keep your eyes on the rpm so you know when to shift. With practice it'll come naturally until you're finally able to do it without looking.

Everyone is making fun of you (with reason) because you're starting on the highest gear.

You can delete this thread now.
>>
>>344143096
Did you remember to put sikk stickers all over your car for extra horsepower
>>
>>344146049
well duh I knew that part, but when I start in the lower gears i lose traction really quick so I thought it would be easier to start in a higher gear so i dont slide everywhere

Don't listen to this guy >>344146049
This advanced technique doesn't work on Project Cars. Only do this if you're okay with potentially damaging your car.

OMG I don't even drive manual and I know more about this than you.

think of manual like a 10 speed bike. you have to go through each of the first gears first before you reach the top gear.

so, first gear - max it out

just before red line (where it is about to rev and go nowhere)you hit the clutch and shift to 2nd gear

max that out, then repeat.

its frustrating but that's how it is.
>>
>>344146195
>when I start in the lower gears i lose traction really quick
what?
>>
>>344146903
in most cars when I start out in 1st or 2nd gear and I stomp on the gas it spins out of control
>>
>>344146195
Don't apply 100% gas in powerful super cars or pull away in second/third. Supercars have far too much torque for first when starting on flat.
>>
>>344146951
do you have traction control on?

fast cars will have a tendency to peel out when you go full boar off the starting line.
>>
>>344146951
Don't stomp the gas when you're in lower gears. Gradually press.
Accelerator control is more important that gearing most of the time.
Also, if you're talking about cornering, you should never really be applying too much gas whilst in corners.
>>
go to a driving school for racing , OP. its way more fun.
>>
>>344146195
That shit happens all the time to me, I press the clutch, go into first gear, add some gas, and my fucking car starts floating off the ground

not really wanting to train, just like enough to learn to drive on the track on the weekends.
>>
I know this is a troll thread but start in 1st gear, shift up to 2nd when rpm gets near the redline and so on. Shift down at 4-5k rpm when slowing down. Also use auto until you get the hang of using a wheel because I'm sure you have never driven a car before.

Weak bait, though I can see that people like this probably exist.
Anyways, are there any proper ways to get a new G27 anymore? All I see is that shitty follow up model with thousands of unnecessary buttons for PS4 and Xbox. I just want to drive without any social or special bullshit.

Once you get up to speed you need to drop it into first gear that way you can brake quicker

Actually in order to brake even quicker you can just set it on reverse once you're at top speed. I do it all the time, it's fun as hell watching everyone look at me braking instantly like a mofo
