1) Download Dolphin 5.0 Emulator
2) Download Mario Party, Mario Kart, Kirby Air Ride, your game of choice, GCN ISO files from emuparadise.me
3) Host a netplay room and post the code here to play with other anons
graphics: force 4:3
config: gamecube: nothing (no memory card)
config: enable dual core (speedup), enable idle skipping (speedup), enable cheats
And turn off Speed Up Disc Transfer Rate (right click game > properties)
Also do whatever "unlock all" cheats that may apply
Also join the discord
Also don't try to play on wifi or cellular or over long distances (>100 ms latency)
Pad buffer is number of frames to buffer input (at ~16 ms input delay per frame)
Also make sure your settings work in single player before doing netplay

That happens sometimes, mash it. If it says that you already have netplay open when you don't, close Dolphin and delete the Dolphin Emulator folder that is in your Documents folder, then double click the shortcut you already have somewhere and it will recreate the file. Remap your controller buttons if you have one. Remember, you can't have anything other than default settings for graphics and the game, and you have to disable your memory card.

The control you're talking about (Graphics > General > Aspect Ratio) applies to all games, and naturally can stretch or squash the output if it's set incorrectly.
There's another setting (Config > Wii > Aspect Ratio) that Wii games natively pay attention to. Games that natively run only in 16:9 will be letterboxed (y'know, black bars on the top and bottom) when it's set to 4:3, while games that are natively 4:3 are probably usually stretched on 16:9 – I dunno, I only know of one retail Wii game that doesn't support 16:9 (plus the billions of VC titles and homebrew).
