Brain dead rush down is still a problem primarily due to weak anti-air buttons made weaker by 8frames hurting reactionary play but the whole "commitment" thing that got pushed made predictive play a lot easier to condition.

From my understanding how the mod works is basically placing that character over an existing one, so when it thinks Ryu is being loaded it is actually Urien. So if they don't have Urien or Juri in that slot Ryu would be loaded for the other person and thing should just break as the action characters make stop being teh same on both systems.

If you are in it for the multiplayer aspect yes.
Story mode is free and all but does not have the replayability of arcade mode.
Vs CPU is possible in training mode.
Daily challenges have not been added yet.
Overall it can be considered a complete game platform. It has a strong foundation but some key features are missing and are 'expected' to be delivered via DLC.

They have confirmed support until Capcom Pro Tour 2017, which probably includes a new batch of characters and whatever DLC modes they have planned. From then on its up to them to assess whether to renew support for it. There will be a yearly balance patch, but I assume that if there's enough demand from the community the system mechanics may be adjusted as well.
I'm in the same boat as you. Haven't bought the game yet but been watching the announcements and competitive scene. Will probably hold off until all the DLC for this year has been delivered and or if it drops as low as 50% off on a sale. I like what I'm seeing so far but I could paying for better.

Honestly they're probably developing a super update that's SSFV in all but name. 2018 will be the right time frame for a first revision anyways.
