Steam sale thread.

I wanna buy one of these. Which one is the best? Which will give me the most play time and stay fresh? Why?

Factorio: Autism: the game

You'll probably sink a fuckton of hours into Stardew Valley and then never touch it again. It's addicting for the first playthrough, then boring as fuck by the middle of year 2.
>>
What are some games with romance plots such as Mass Effect? I'm a sucker for romance plots.
>>

Things I bought:
Gta pack (3,vice city, san andreas,Iv and liberty city shit)
Dark Souls Prepare to die
Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the first sin
Payday 2 plus all dlc

How bad is my taste /v/?

I only hate myself a little
>>
>>343498387
It looks like fucking farmville. What's the appeal?

I loved animal crossing because the characters and music and atmosphere was fucking cute and comfy as fuck, but stardew valley looks like it's just a bunch of repetative grinding, farming, and stupid shit like that. It doesn't even have cute animals and instead has ugly pixel people.

Maybe I'm just being a faggot furry or something but it doesn't look nearly as comfy as Animal Crossing.

I hear it compared to harvest moon more, but that again just seems like a more refined farmville.

Honestly, it doesn't really feel right to pay for games like these, as in games that are really fucking small and try to ride on the 8bit graphic style. They always feel so cheap ( i.e Undertale and Shovel Knight)

>>
>>343502529
>"it just doesn't feel right"

absolute bullshit reason

feeling is largely subjective. If effort went into making something then a person deserves to be rewarded for their work
>>
>>343502631
Yeah, that's true but that was my reasoning. It might also be the fact that I'm not financially stable and don't have the $10 to spend on an 8bit game that's 2 hours long.
>>
How is Tempest?
http://store.steampowered.com/app/418180/
>>
How'd I do?
>>
>>343502720
Would you rather spend $80 for the latest 6 hour COD game and another $30 for the season pass?

$10 is a decent price for 2 hours of gameplay if it's good. 8bit or not isn't an objective fault.

Do what you like, but c mon, don't stop others from paying developers who just wanna make games for us.

Divinity Dragon Commander has RTS battles, being able to jump in the fight in dragon mode makes it a lot easier, but it's still kind of a shallow experience.
Warcraft 3, not huge battles but very beginner friendly
Dawn of War 1 not so beginner but battles can get massive
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance is for experienced RTS'ers, but if you bother learning it it's probably the one with the most mchuge battles

Go with DoW1 complete pack, then choose between Dark Crusade and Soulstorm.

I've always wondered this about Early Access games. Once they leave Early Access and get "released for real", do you have to pay more to keep your copy of the game or something?

Is buying at early access and letting your game age for a while until it's worth not a viable choice? Why not?
>>
>>343502785
pls respond
>>
>>343505528
...how the fuck could you be so wrong?

Buying early access just means you bought the game before it was finished.

It keeps updating like everything else. You still own it once it gets released.
>>
>>343502818

Both are very good, but neither of those.

Supreme commander+forged alliance(download Forged alliance forever too), extremely simply structured tech tree, on of the few games that can rightfully claim to have "massive" battles. supreme overview over the entire battlefield due to seamless zoom.

Not SC2. get that if you have exhausted the list of great RTS and still need more.

You have alot of the same taste in games as me besides Elite Dangerous. I don't know how much KSP is, but I'd give that a go if it's affordable. Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery in U.S.) is a must have as well for you.

>>343505609
then why do so many steam reviews and /v/ comments say to "wait until the game leaves early access" to buy it then, when it would be more expensive to do so, and buying it right away presents literally no disadvantages?
>>
>>343505668
early access survival is its own genre now, so basically all of them are finished, even though they are not really finished and never truly will be.

Something you can't do after 2 weeks or playing 2 hours.

>summer
>>
>>343505906
Well then you need to not play it for 2 hours from the time you buy it until it is released. Which could be 1-2 years.

Sure there are no disadvantages in buying the game 10% cheaper in EA than when it is released....other than you not having that money and you not being able to play that game since you obviously want to hold out X amount of years in case you want a refund.
>>
>>343505906
I don't believe refunding works just because something is in early access.

If it is outright stated to be abandoned by devs, maybe, but most abandoned games never get the devs to state the fact because they want people to keep buying the fucking game

Case in point, Overgrowth. It's been in fucking alpha for about 5 goddamn years or something, and fuck all has changed. But because the dev releases a video every 2 months of some concept pictures of rabbits, no one is allowed to call it abandonware for good.
>>
>>343505668
Pretty good I guess, I only bought it because it keeps getting updates steadily.
>>

>>343505739
>literally no disadvantages

>game turns bad
>game is not finished
>game will not be finished, making you pay for unkept promise
>furthers the notion that perpetual EA is okay, supporting lazy devs (though minecraft did more damage in this regard, it doesn´t mean that you should ignore EA)
>making you "burn out" on the unfinished game, tarnishing the experience you could have had had you kept you wallet in your trousers
>discount price is often the release sale price, and much higher than the price at the first summer or winter sale after release
>etc. ...
>>
>>343506004
>>343506014
>>343506017
i dunno what you guys are talking about. It says right there that your refund MIGHT get rejected if it fails the 2hours 2weeks test, but it doesn't has why to hold true. I just refunded Gmod after like 10 hours of downloading and finding out my PC literally runs it at 3FPS by providing screens and data and shit.

Anyways, if the game has already caught your eye, what could happen down the development line for it to somehow not only make you lose interest but actually decide you want nothing to do with it no more?
If nothing else, the game still has all the things you wanted from it back when you bought it at EA, and it's 99% likely it has developed at least a bit further in that specific regard you liked in particular since you got it.
>>
>>343505952
probably not, because it can be treacherous to play something with such a strong IP as warhammer, which might make you believe you like TW when you really just like WH.
It is also very simplified compared to other TWs, with the possible exception of Rome 2.

BUT, if you already like warhammer, there is not much reason not to try.

Probably a retarded question but here goes.
I used to like to build bases in Command and conquer games and just defend against the enemy AI for hours or until resources were completely used up.
Is there any game like this on sale? (a bit deeper than just tower defence)
>>
>>343506335
He asked if there were any disadvantages and I listed the advantages.

And I've literally tried to refund over a hundred games that I had played for more than 2 hours/were more than 2 weeks old. So it doesn't happen very often.
>>
>>343506335
The word "might" is used loosely here. Most of the time, it doesn't work. Not all the time, but most of the time.

And you've obviously never experience a game ruined by shitty updates, but we have. It's a lot more common than you think.

Time for a /v/ food analogy

Practically fucking no one has actually answered OPs question about the 5 games he picked. Why? Because they are literally all garbage and no one can come up with why any of them are good.

If they were worth anything, maybe someone would have answered OP. But no one did. Hence, all trash.

You make claims but the results are right in front of you.

Still cant decide.

Add something or not and call this sale done? Limit is 65 EUR.

I would like to play some comfy exploration/base building but everything is in Early Access.

Im close to even drop money for MAV devs, despite it being EA title, simply because I love mechas.

Please help anon :3

Runestone Keeper — great roguelite / minesweeper game. Looks simple at first, but there’s a surprisingly interesting and challenging gameplay in it. 80+ hours and counting for me. Can’t have enough.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/339400

Desktop Dungeons — coffee brake roguelike with puzzle elements and huge replayability.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/226620

Tales of Maj'Eyal — the best roguelike on the market. Simple graphics, but almost limitless potential for hours to spend in it. Has in-game chat with friendly community always willing to help.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/259680

Battle Brothers — medieval fantasy turn-based RPG / RTS with surprisingly deep gameplay, fantastic atmosphere, and promises of it being even better game after EA is over. The best turn based game I played in 10 years.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/365360

The Talos Principle — first person puzzle made by Serious Sam devs. Smart and interesting challenges, with profound story and beautiful world.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/257510

Antichamber — first-person puzzle that doesn't play like Portal 2 at all. It's a mind-bending game, that makes you throw away preconceptions and prior experience playing video games and think differently.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219890

Lovely Planet — Super Meat Boy from first person perspective with colorful world and VERY challenging levels. A speed run game.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/298600

Snakebird — surprisingly hard but neat puzzle game. Easy buy for those who want both challenging and clever experience.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/357300

Teleglitch — Quake II-esque world with top-down perspective and one life per run.

Personal niche recommendations (2/3)

Infested Planet — take control of a squad responsible of purging huge amount of xenos in a top-down realtime strategy. Has that Aliens / WH40k vibe.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/204530

Jets'n'Guns — absolutely fantastic and rad SHMUP with ridiculous number of levels, enemies, jets and guns. Gorgeous soundtrack by cult power-metal group Machinae Supremacy.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/262260

Shadowgate — very well done remake of an old Macintosh adventure. Just the game to spend dull winter evenings in almost pen-n-paper atmosphere. Good experience for those who love the genre.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/294440

Silent Storm — RPG made by Russians, set in the WWII / post-WWII world, with ridiculously good and smart turn based system, and total destruction of almost anything you can find on levels. Rare game to have Axis story arc in it.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/254960

Pix The Cat — a VERY good variation on a classic ‘snake’ formula. Huge replayability, addictive soundtrack, and co-op designed for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/330180/

Duck Game — imagine Smash bros. with ducks and huge variety of different weapons, destructible environment, and a dedicated QUACK button. Must have for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/312530

Hammerwatch — probably the best Gauntlet inspired game that has ever came out.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239070

Devil Daggers — addictive arena shooter with surprisingly great atmosphere and audio/visual design (if you’re into it). Geometry Wars from first person. Go and beat 500.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/422970/

Bunker Punks — high speed, no bullshit old-school FPS with graphics straight from the last century. If you liked the new Doom, you might like this one too.

NeuroVoider — rougelike twinstick shooter with great visuals and fantastic dark synth soundtrack. Customize your robotic body for it to suit your playstyle the best. Local coop for up to 4 players.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/400450/

Deadbolt — a gritty combination of Gunpoint and Hotline Miami by creator of Risk of Rain. Playing as the Reaper, hunt souls that refuse to cross the river to the afterlife. http://store.steampowered.com/app/394970/

House of the Dying Sun — game heavily inspired by Tie Fight with aesthetics of Homeworld. One of the few games that actually benefit from being played in VR. Soundtrack by the composer of E.Y.E.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/283160/

Space Beast Terror Fright — FPS / dungeon crawler set in sci-fi world that reminds of Warhammer 40k Space Hulk and Aliens. Has coop for up to 4 players on the same screen. Epileptics beware.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/357330/

Hexcells — neat little variation on minesweeper. Relaxing music and enough levels to keep you busy for a few evenings.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265890

RUNNING WITH RIFLES — surprisingly deep tactical shooter, despite it having a top-down view and being pretty light hearted about itself and war in general.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/270150

Dungeon Rushers — unique tactical RPG with JRPG-esque combat. Build your army through the campaign to later raid other players’ dungeons while upgrading your own with better traps and monsters (think MGSV FOB invasions).

Mini Metro — stylish strategy sim about making a subway map for evergrowing city. Minimalistic yet fantastic art style.

You've got a great taste, some suggestions that you might want to consider including in your list:

Neon Chrome - Very fucking competent twin stick shooter roguelite, easy progression system, some neat ideas, unique cyberpunk aesthetic and a variety of different ways to approach the levels. Destructible environment.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/428750/

Armello - Very cutesy game based on a boardgame with shitloads of depth, several ways to win the game and a variety of options to screw over friends. Includes SP and online MP. It's really fun. Filled with furries, sadly, but a fun game that does not look like a boardgame. Great introduction to the genre.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/290340

Bastard Bonds - Party building RPG with simple but streamlined combat. Gets grindy, has a nice soundtrack, includes base building/staffing.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/486720/

Blacksea Odyssey - Whale hunting in space, with hooking, dragging, tearing apart. You can also kill Cthulu. Really fucking unique. In space with spaceships that feel like ships. A bit of floating, a bit of drifting, it's difficult to explain but lots of fun.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/369550

Games on your list I can vouch for:
Tales of Maj'Eyal, Battle Brothers, Talos, Teleglitch, Devil Daggers, NeuroVoider, Deadbolt, House of the Dying Sun, Reflex

It have few unique parts, like moving between real and "ghost" world or unlimited healing potions that reduce your max hp each time you use one, until you rest at your own home.

Also, story is pretty much about inquisitor girl that was trained to hunt and eridicate all religions, because in distant past some fagot decided to slay their world's god by his special sword, act that spawned, ironically, religion dedicated to worship him, until some guys decided that ALL religions are bad. Oh and the main heroinÄ™ is actually connected by blood with mentioned guy and formely slayed god is returning and is not happy.

Sounds like some kind of fedora game. Funny enough, I still have boxed copy of Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, but never played and dont know, why I exactly bought it. It stands as reminder, why I should think over every purchase.

My only advice aside from Remember Me being forgettable is don't get the Undertale OST. The tracks are fucking fantastic, but for some reason Toby didn't put effort into the OST mixes and they don't loop, differ from the ingame tracks in bad ways, and is a tad pricy. Maybe try to find a better fan made cut if you like the music.

On the other hand, feel free to grab Transistor's.

Guys... never buy games simultaneously. You'll never know what to play. Instead, buy one game where you think you'll spend a lot of time. If you don't like it, buy something else.
>>
>>343514741

If you dont mind the linear nature under disguise of open-world, then okay I guess.

I finished the game shortly after release, after 80 hours. I Wonder if devs still are all about nerfing spree.

Played for an hour. It has a cool mechanic where you can switch between two worlds. I don't know how to rest to fill my medical "potion", but doing quests seems to work. Minimap is shit. Music is great and the game looks very nice, you can zoom in and out. Worth it for the price. I just want to know where I can rest.

>>
>>343497350
Should I buy Bully?
Is the PC port acceptable?
>>
>>343517502

Dragonfall is cheap and its the best one out of three.

They are RPG - it sounds empty, but they are really ROLE PLAYING games. Narrative, reading dialogues, thinking over your answers - its all important here. Missions have different solutions within, based on your skills, stats, traits and race.

Dragonfall is really good entry, for low price, to check if you like games like that. I tried it year ago during Winter Sale and felt in love with it.

Hongkong is way more about talking, Returns about fighting, Dragonfall is balanced well. Also, unlike Returns, you actually have team this time, instead of hiring other Runners, with backstories, dialogues and own missions.

Watch out for money, tho, it is limited. Like, really limited.
>>

>>343517876

>>343517838

>>
>>343517397
how can you claim that Grim Dawn is bland compared to Poe? Great build variety, and more immediate access to said variety.
>>
>>343517876
The port is good but the game really isn't.

I don't understand the hype, it's quite boring.
>>
>>343512123
Caves of Qud looks pretty neat.
I had a bit of fun with Dwarf Fortress' adventure mode but felt like I didn't have much to do, is CoQ similar to that?
>>
>>343517876
I heard the port was buggy, but the gamne itself is pretty fun.

Story is basically you're the new kid/freshman at a charter school in America and you interact with all the cliques to make friends. But you can also beat the shit out of anyone in the school and also make out with anyone in the school, it's "progressive" enough to not warrant backlash from doing shit like beating up grills.

Overall, has a cozy as fuck atmosphere, nice OST, and worth at least one playthrough.
>>
>>343518296
The characters all look the same, I can't deal with that familia.
>>
>>343517435

>>
>>343507240
It's not even skillful once you get the logiistic networks. Don't even have to worry about placement and such, just place a crafting machine in a random place and put in and out boxes. I spent a ton of time carefully planning the layout of my factory, only to realize the logistic network made all the careful planning redundant. Kinda weird how the difficulty starts out hard then goes down as the game progresses.
>>
>>343517838
Stardew Valley is probably a game you'll sink a lot of time into, but with all HM-like games you'll get bored once you start making a lot of money and get married. The dev is pushing out a huge update soon though, maybe you'll want to stick around for that
>>

>shilling BR platform

Out.
>>
Okay...

Caves of Qud - Old school roguelike that's barely on sale. Don't buy now, wait and pay the extra dollar later if you don't mind.

Factorio - A very good candidate for your purchase. . Lots of things to do, will only increase as the game is developed out. Sadly, not on sale yet devs say that they will basically not put the game on sale ever until it comes closer to release and that the $20 price is already a discount

Disgaea - Did you ever play this before? Upgraded version of a PS1 era JRPG. Deep gameplay, based on the newer "afternoon of darkness" version and allows JP audio if you wish it. Decent sale price, $5 off the normal $20, so around $15. Not a bad candidate, lots of playtime for an old JRPG but it can get kinda (very) grindy. Oh, there's also a JRPG bundle you can get that includes this (along with the HIGHLY recommended Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Zestiria, Disgaea and mroe)

UnderRail - Fallout-ish isometric single player CRPG, available for 10 instead of $15. I hear its nice, but not the longest game in comparison to those listed above. Have't played myself so I'm not sure.

Stardew Valley - Ultra popular indie darling in the style of Harvest Moon, the JRPG Farming/Dating sim. Available for $12 instead of $15. Well put together, developed by a single dev, but who is adding more content with frequency. Tons to do now, with mods and patches adding even more. Not a bad candidate.

So what's your objective? Are you looking for the best deals primarily? Or just the best games for your money, damn the sale.

I say make it Factorio, Stardew Valley, and Disgaea for pure quality, depending on your preferences. For discounts, I'd say Disgaea (or UnderRail) get the best discounts, with Stardew another worthy offering.

To be honest, Nuuvem's shit seems a lot cheaper than Steam right now. Example, you can get Symphonia for $2.50 and Zestiria for $13 off nuuvem.

For any South America/BR fags, is it possible to buy keys off Nuuvem and redeem them in a North American Steam account? They all say SA region only but someone said Nuuvem lies about the region locking on some of the game keys they sell.
