I placed so terribly, 35. I know that my aiming/reflexes aren't that great, but I feel like I play a good Mercy/Lucio (constantly get gold medals for healing and do lots of clutch resurrects/sound barriers in contesting objectives).
How do I git gud and rank up?

Played my 10 matches last night and got placed at 51.
Worked my way up to 54 until 2AM then out of fucking nowhere fucking shittiers and Genji's started showing up in the queue and I fell down to 49.
I got pissed and played a couple of quick play and went to bed. The weird thing is I'm level 100 and all of a sudden last night once Comp Play started onconsoleI started getting paired with people under level 10 in quickplay.

Well we'll see, either way it won't be too hard to rise the ranks provided we get decent teams. Had surprisingly good luck with matchmaking in the placements, first 3 matches were steamrolls, 4th was a pretty shitty koth loss, 5th was a hard fought win on koth, 6th had a pretty lousy team, 7th was a Dorado with some so-so teammates, but we won anyways.

Out of the 6 qualification matches I've lost so far 4 or 5 of them went to sudden death (the last one was point cap that we lost on overtime).
The system honestly feels like bullshit right now because while Blizzard would argue that this is the result of good matchmaking I say it's the result of a too forgiving system dragging the matches out too long (and heavily favoring Mercy ult)

Started at 49 almost 50 and went on a shitty losing streak today and ended up at 45. All solo queue.
I played like 16 matches this morning and lost 10. I don't feel like I'm doing bad but around this bracket people don't elim well at all and games snowball fast as hell. I need some tips on how to succeed in solo more. Fuck forced 50/dumb teammates and all that shit I see other people fare well in solo and I'm losing a lot so I know there is something I can do or learn.

I'll play zarya more but in most of the games I played her I got focused hard by repaers and tracers or get bursted down real quick by a junkrat. When I play rein nobody stands behind my shield and I get focused by like 4 enemies on the opposing team. Pharah seems great but I don't really know how to play her well admittedly.
I'll give it another shot though and try to watch some better players. Not being able to give my team that "pick me up" that they need to turn games is whats really limiting me.

Your rank is determined mostly by gold medals.
If you mostly play support you're going to get a lower level since you'll probably only get gold medals in healing whereas someone like Roadhog is capable of gold medals in everything.

Don't bother with comp if you only ever play one character.
Every team I've seen with a stubborn player that refuses to play anything but their main ends up getting shit on, because while the rest of the team is well composed they actually need that 6th player to not be a wasted slot to compete properly, and other players end up needing to swap away from something that is useful to the team to a pick that is more desperately needed but ends up leaving the team lacking elsewhere.
Blizzard were wrong when they said that 6 player teams meant games weren't lost or won by single players.

Depends on the team comp honestly.
Widow is typically better overall, but most ultimates combo better with Hanzo's. He also gives recon info more consistently through the match, and when a player breaks through the ranks to pick off the Hanzo you can typically do just fine with a well placed scatter.
Hanzo also isn't countered by the monkey pick as much as Widow.

Overall though you can't deal with it on your own, you need multiple people to counter them, not just one guy who switches to a counter.

If a Rein has his shield up, shoot past and underneath his shield (since he'll be lifted up). Rein will usually survive with some remaining HP, but the others in the ult will definitely be dead.

In that version, we resolved ties by going to a single point on a randomly selected Control map (Ilios, Lijiang Tower, and Nepal). What we found was that people didn’t like playing on a different map and they didn’t like that it was a different game mode. So, we tried to come up with a Sudden Death mechanic that would play out on each map that was balanced and not too time intensive for players (i.e. the format you’re playing on the PTR right now).

I thought I could make a difference with Zarya but she needs good teammates to shine. I can use a dummy to get free charge but its all for naught If I get 1v3 or 4 She doesn't really handle multiple heroes well in my case that is.
