It's absolutely irrelevant to anyone besides people who are generations behind in video cards, and even then it's better to buy a 1070 or a 1080 to extend the time until you need to upgrade again. A 960 is on par with 680, a card that cost 600$ at some point, but is outclassed heavily now.

For anyone that's interested. The 970 that's being used in the tests has the same clock speed as the 480 (1266Mhz), but slower memclock speeds (1750Mhz vs 2000Mhz).

So from what I've seen from Eurogamer's benchmarks it does pretty well for 1080 at 60fps on Ultra, especially when overclocked.
This is good news for someone like me with a 270x and 1080p monitor with freesync.
I can grab a non-reference 8gb sapphire model in a month or so and get a good performance boost.
Then maybe next year I can upgrade again without breaking the bank. Depends on how much mileage I get from the RX 480. It might just be enough as is for me.

My 3.1ghz i5 keeps bottlenecking the card in CPU intensive games like GTA 5 and the microstutter in TW3 as well as GTA 5 completely disappeared when i bought an SSD. AMD drivers have significant overhead in their drivers which causes CPU usage to be higher across the board. They have a lot of room for improvement for optimization which is why you can see large performance gains with certain drivers. Remember Omega?

That's not true. Most of those benchmarks are within a few fps of each other. The 970 they used is a factory overclocked version, which explains the few extra fps.
If you compared stock 480 to stock 970, they'd perform about the same in most titles. The factory overclocked AIB RX 480s will soon be coming out, which would close any small gap that existed in such tests.
