Low fps because it's on a shitty laptop.

Here's how they did it.

The truth is that Denuvo is fully cracked for that specific game (ROTTR), not emulated or worked around.

Denuvo uses a VM to translate x86-x64 instructions to a set of VM instructions (between 2-50 for a single instructions), which makes code unreadable (virtualization obfuscation).

At runtime, the VM instructions are decrypted by an interpreter, think of it as the specific processor needed to run the obfuscated bytecode.

So know that everyone knows the basic of virtualizer (summed up and simplified), here is reloaded's method. Exe sections that are encrypted by Denuvo are "destroyed", the original code is nowhere to be seen, preventing the reverser from modifying the code. Reloaded used tricks to get the interpreter to read the vm instructions for them, then dumped that decrypted code out of memory and replaced "destroyed" sections by the fresh x64 assembly code.
>>
>>343086252
So what if you cracked Denuvo? Piracy is LITERALLY dead. Not gaming piracy, but piracy in general. Nobody pirates in real life anymore except for like maybe 5 niggers off the African coast. TPB is dead. Kickass is dead. The only thing remaining are private trackers (which, in the case of gaming) largely have releases which can be found on public trackers

in theory piracy would hinder sales. i mean its potentially 1 less person who would buy it. and yet the people who pirate it probably dont have money to buy it anyways or aren't even willing to. it just makes the game run even fucking worse somehow and costs like what, a million dollaridoos to use? i hope it gets cracked so maybe they would just give up on antipiracy shit so i can expect games to run better on better hardware and not fucking worse

Then the Denuvo devs spend 5 minutes making a change and these crack methods are all invalid for the next gen of Denuvo games and you start over from scratch again. Just like the previous Denuvo 1.1 crack

Probably not all that different, since removing denuvo altogether seems difficult. They'll probably find ways to inject the necessary VM instructions/object code to bypass denuvo.
But, completely removing denuvo should, in theory, increase performance and maybe help out with the memory leaks people talk about.

This reminds me of how GW3DS implement DRM on their launcher, with a MIPS VM with swapped opcodes. They also used another technique to swap memory in-out as it executes.

>>
>>343089304
Sure, after someone decrypts the game archives and parts of source code, makes third party map editing tools/mod SDK and creates a separate mod injector. Denuvo only fucks with mods that try to inject themselves into .exe or need a separate .exe, it doesn't fuck with mods that change variables or use proprietary game archives or whatever, which is the majority of mods for games that support modding. Doom doesn't support modding, period. The only way to mod Doom for people is to create their own tools for modding, which is almost impossible, because less than a dozen of games ever had the privilege of having such dedicated communities

Yes it's worth it for the singleplayer campaign, probably my favorite game of the year so far. It's really reminiscent of Ouake and the original Doom. Movement and combat are really fast with you jumping all over the place dodging fireballs and missiles and blowing fucking demons up into gory messes. On higher difficulties getting hit just a few times can kill you though overall i'd say the game is still easier than Doom 1 and 2.

Also it's not scary at all. Unlike Doom 3 where the game had you crawling around in the dark like a scared pussy for half the game, you usually know when an enemy is near before you're actually in combat in the new Doom and you're running to go kill them. There are some darker segments though not as dark as Doom 3 was on average and there isn't a single scripted jumpscare in the game. There is a shitload of gore in the game though, like insane amounts of gore just all over the place.

Oh yeah and the soundtrack is pretty good too.
>>
>>343090431
Original Doom, not this Doom. Even Doom 3 supported modding to some extent, but people stopped caring about it long time ago. The best technical thing that came out of it was Doom 3 multiplayer mod years after the game has been out.

The thing about modding communities is they're incredibly autistic.

And the thing about autism is they're fucking livid over change.

If you go to doomworld, all you see is people circlejerking to comparison videos of the WR speedrun of DOOM to the Polygon review of DOOM 4. It's almost as funny as it is sad.

Never intended on spending 60 Usa grade beef patties on any denuvo game because most are single player and have campaigns that ammount to little over 20 hours if you're braindead slow and waste time looking for shit.

Now I have an outlet to get it for free instead of waiting for these games to be their rightful price: 10-20 bucks depending on how many hours I can get out of it.

I wish I could tell devs to follow the golden rule or they don't get my fucking money, but I'm 100% sure they wouldn't give a shit. I've been following this mantra since the SNES.

Everything and EVERYONE wants to take your money now a day, literally everything wants to suck your wallet, there's nothing immoral about keeping 60 bucks that you can use to feed your wife's kid or your mother or yourself, or fix your car so you can keep going to your shitty 9-5 job and make some $ that you blow away on bills. It's got full debugging support on top of the static analysis, the analysis can even help you while your debugging
Also plugins like HexRays work fine when debugging too, so you can get C pseudocode of the func your analysing as you analyse it (newer versions of HexRays even let you set breakpoints inside the pseudocode, pretty neat stuff)

Not really sure why these people would be using x64dbg when IDA seems to have more features, maybe they aren't aware of how to set IDA up for x64 debugging?
Either that or x64dbg must have some feature I'm not aware of

There is no crack.
Nothing is cracked.

Rumors like that appear once per month or two and then disappear for another month and two and meanwhile NO working crack EVER being released.

This will keep happening until the end of this year.

Do not expect any denuvo crack -- or,rather, emulator -- until December.

Then they roll out Denuvo v1.4 and the circle starts again.

Nothing, 2017 starts and Denuvo won another year.

On a seriosu note it's been rumored that some of earlier Denuvo games like RoTR are emulated but the group withholding the release until most of the patches are released to ensure crack could be adopted/applied to some other game with similar Denuvo version.

But it just a rumor.

>>343102160
In order to use that "crack" from op you need legit tickets (generated by steamlite) and saves doesn't even work. You NEED legit ticket which means yoiu NEED to start the game legally and generate one. That is not a crack, that's a bull. MKdev, who worked on it, confirmed that some russian fag just went nuts with his "proof of concept" release.
>>
>>343101379
Code analysis is kind of useless when it's all obfuscated. I don't know if IDA would even manage to load analyze the Denuvo executable without hanging. All license logic is in the VM for which you need to write your own tool to completely defeat it anyway.

Olly and x64dbg are easier to use, free, aren't as much of a resource hog and have anti-antidebug features. x64dbg doesn't have tracing yet though.

I suppose so, the analysis side could always be disabled though and you could just use IDA as a normal debugger, which is why I don't understand people who say x64dbg is the only debugger available. (and before x64dbg came along, people saying that there's no x64 debugger..)

For the last time, Denuvo advertises their product as delaying the crack for long enough to secure the launch window. Considering how long this took, I'd say they did exactly what they advertised. I'm willing to bet that a lot of pirates caved and bought it for $35 in the Steam sale instead of waiting for it to be fully cracked, which is exactly what id wanted when they chose to pay for Denuvo.

Pirates still lost.

Regardless, the only way your argument holds up is if the games using Denuvo actually sold.

The only one in recent memory is TW: Warhammer and they stopped regularly releasing info after the 500k mark.

For comparison, Rome 2 in that series without Denuvo sold around 1.2 million in the same time frame.

I'm not a shill and I haven't been posting "piracy is dead" threads. Judge me as an individual. And you are moving the goalposts with the sales numbers, all that Denuvo needs to do for it to be worth it to publishers/devs is to force a few impatient people to buy the game. It doesn't matter if the game only sold two copies, as long as one copy sold is an impatient would be private, Denuvo still did it's job.

>And you are moving the goalposts with the sales numbers
You should think through that one carefully. Denuvo as you stated is to secure the timeframe where games get the most sales. Sales numbers is extremely relevant to that argument, and ultimately will refute or prove the argument on its own.

You see, if and I mean if, companies or more specifically publishers understand that licensing Denuvo (what was it, millions at the start or % per copy sold?) is less cost effective, Denuvo will not really be used anymore.

Kind of requires people to add more code to compilers to support it, and that's not happening any time soon. They haven't even done that with the most recent instruction set.
>>
>>343104115
You have to prove that Denuvo is causing the poor sales. Again, for Denuvo to work for publishers, it literally doesn't matter if the game sells two copies, as long as one copy was a would be pirate who got impatient. Denuvo doesn't cost that much money to implement iirc.
>>
>>343103013
I noticed that IDA is used mostly by professionals, malware researchers, exploit devs and so on, yeah that obviously doesn't stop crackers from using it but that's just the way it is, maybe it's out of habit. IDA itself has some nasty DRM that uses watermarks (still doesn't prevent leaks but I think pirated copies lack some features). Besides, it used to be hard to purchase it because you needed to have a valid reason for it or work for someone big in the security industry, not sure how strict it is nowadays. And people saying there's no x64 debugger are reddit kids spreading rumors without checking the facts.

There is official support for SGX in both Linux and Windows 10. SGX only adds a few instructions, it's going to be trivial to add to compilers. Like I said, SGX is not about additional instructions, it's about the ability to create encrypted, remotely attestable enclaves a debugger won't be able to enter.
