>Deaf and blind

Complete utter fucking bullshit. This twist makes me so mad compared to everything else in the game because it completely forgoes the rules of the game.

>THE TEAM LEADER WILL MAKE DECISIONS

"Q" is the team leader, how the fuck is he supposed to make decisions if hes deaf AND blind? He can't make anything, he can't speak or hear so the team just leaves him be? I can't believe that. Theres an old man in a wheelchair following you everywhere you go, and you just leave him out of the equation because hes deaf and blind? If hes blind how can he see where hes going? Shouldn't mira and eric show a little more concerned for a handicapped person who would obviously be struggling to get about in these rooms? Did he just sit there the entire time while everyone else did the work?

Yes I know and get that hes the camera view, but its still dumb.

>End of red coin flip
>Whos this kid?

Why does this matter? They all ahd their memories erased, how would they even remember the old man was with them? Why does it matter this kid and a bunch of other people they don't know are there? why zero in on THIS KID?

Just finished it.

I was enjoying the game a lot until it got into the final phase with no more puzzle rooms and just a lot of asspulls and no real payoff. Then it just ended. No extra scenes or anything, just some text files.

In particular I hated the transporter. It's the level of asspull that just smells of lazy writing. I mean if you suddenly include alien technology with no explanation and no real setup it's the same level of twist as something like "Akane is a magical girl and can use magic!"

Speaking of Akane I basically lost all respect for her. The previous two games treated her like she was really smart and really calculating and even cruel when needed (She fucking organized the second nonary game) yet in ZTD she seems to be overly emotional and retarded multiple times in the story. Doesn't even consider ANY alternatives before jumping to conclusions and waving a chainsaw around? Fucking really?

So all in all I liked the puzzles, I liked the majority of the scenes, I didn't like the explanations and wrap-up.
>>
>>342981712

Remember when a lot of us theorized that stopping Rad-6 would have something to do with using FBR to neutralize it? And then FBR showed up a whopping one time in one puzzle room.

Christ fuck Uchi.
>>
>>342981936
>yet in ZTD she seems to be overly emotional and retarded multiple times in the story
Like a real woman.
>>
>>342982076
It was a big red herring. There was nothing really pertaining to make you think that FBR would be some kind of major plot point at all other than an image with zero context.
>>
Full fucking rant coming:

[spoler]This ending SUCKS.

What the hell was the poibnt of Sigma and phi jumping back to prevent this, if Brothers just going to go and "do them a favor" and do it himself? I don't fucking care if its their kid, hes cold and unfeeling and didnt give a shit about them. But the entire ENTIRE point of this game, was for Sigma and Phi to bounce back to 2028 and prevent Radical 6 from escaping. They didn't do that. In the final timeline radical 6 isnt even introduced, its literally only introduced in one timeline, and it doesn't even have any plot heavy points other then mira being a damn bitch. Radical 6 is the conflict, not Sigma's kid, not quantum computers, NOT ALIEN FUCKING TECHNOLOGY.

How the FUCK did Uchi drop the ball this hard? I didnt even buy the game and I feel like I want a refund [/spoiler]
>>
>>342982076
FBR isnt real and just a metaphor for the atomic bomb.
>>
>>342981969
I went through the door and I've got the Moon, crossbow, radioactive and twins endings. So I'm missing two. I did just notice that I only have All Teams Survived and Q Executed highlighted on the side of the timeline even though I have all the exections done.
>>
>>342981936
I don't even get why Diana and Sigma tried using the transporter. They're Shifters, they could've just jumped to another timeline when Phi died. I feel like the transporter was only created for Phi and Delta because Uchi wrote himself into a corner.
>>
>>342982247

good job
>>
>>342982340
Re-do the executions. Get 2 teams to vote for C and then 2 teams to vote for D. I was stuck just like you until I've figured it out.
>>
>>342982350
Could Diana shift at that point in time though? I don't think she knew she was a shifter then.
>>
>>342982340
AHhhhhhhh we found the cause. You have to get them all highlighted.

You have to go and rig the votes. So switch to execution decision for Q team, vote for C team as Q team, then do the same for D team. Choose C-Team. Then rig it again so you get D team executed.
>>
>>342981128
Didn't they only forget about the coin flip? They did know each other from Dcom. Other than that I agree, it's pretty stupid.

It really felt like Uchi wrote something completely new and disregarded the previous games. Then was like "oh right the previous game needs to make sense" and added in some little bits to connect the games but everything you expected based on the teasing at the end of VLR ended up being fucking nothing.

Fuck.

Initial thoughts:

>At the end of VLR [Q] inhabits kyles body.
>in ZTD the switch is kyle ends up in [Q]'s body
>Figured "sean' was young kyle
>once learned of the Quantum computer, thought [Q] was basically the computer intelligence existing like a manufactured [?] or [Blickwinkle] Third eye entity.
>This would have given Kyle a major role in helping prevent VLR, especially since Q team dealt with Radical 6
>Thought with the way carlos reffered to zero as "I know you, you're-" that Zero was Brother and Carlos was Left (Same rules apply, blonde hair, blue eye]
>"Zero" being born in 1904 Germany only solidifies the idea of Left and his later Aryanized clone army of myrmidons

>Figured Zero built [Q] and learned of the future "The Horrible things" he's said to have seen in VLR then caused him to found free the soul.
>Thought Mira going on and on about her inability to experience and understand emotions, she was a clone [Clone law passed year 2010]
>Even with Brother wanting to stop his other self I still figured we as the player would still help him with that, not just end on a cliffhanger in a now open future left to the imagination

>instead we got the shitfest we got.

Really disappointing. What the point in theorizing when all the most logical paths are severed and circumvented with unexplainable bullshit? This series used to be fun.
>>
>>342983875
Use the keys you retrieved from the piano
>>
So about the ending
How the fuck did everyone act like Delta is not even there?
In every scene even when it's meant to be "his" perspective nothing really happens and another bullshit part is with that blind and deaf shit and also that some of the perspectives are from Sean
Another shit thing was that MIND HACK and how they made shifters look like comic book heroes with those weird blue animated balls falling on them

We already knew what happened at that site (about the radical 6 breakout). Also a lot of people guessed correctly who was the 2nd Zero. Not to mention, people were already saying Phi is the daughter of Sigma and Diana. I think if we knew less it would've been much more enjoyable.

But that still doesn't justify his half-ass writing. Where was Kyle and Blick Winkel? What about Sigma and his family after ZTD ended? What happened to Alice and Clover (Akane said they'd be able to go back in time, not just their consciousness, but their whole bodies)? And what the fuck was up with that open-ending? We don't know if Delta was shot and we don't know who the terrorist is. I wouldn't be surprised if Uchi is expecting much more sales from this for some reason and wishes to write another sequel.

Then the creator knows everything about their series, and to them it makes logical sense, but because of the information they know, they leave out little things because to them, its already explainable?

I feel like uchi jumped the gun and forgot to write it in a way that people other then himself could understand everything. theres too many little instances that have no explanations.

A lot of writers tend to do that, they fall in love with their idea so much, they forget its meant to be for everyone else, not just them.

Who the fuck was Left?
How can Delta live 124 years and be so well?
What kind of eyes Delta have? They were rare as fuck.

And Clover and Alice?

The Aksys sales and marketing dude is on Twitter keeping people updated and is apparently trying to get firm confirmation from Amazon about wtf is going on and making sure they do what they're told, but he's said that they have the game in their warehouses so they should ship them out as Aksys has told them to and then follow up in a few weeks with shipping the watches and extra bonus thing when they're done. He said in another tweet that worst case scenario, assuming Amazon doesn't fuck customers over, any delays should only see us getting our games 1-2 days late.

The game was good per se, the flow and intrigue were excellent, all that stuff.

Like someone on dumblr said... once they began explaining things, that's when the magic died.

My dissapointment hit the all-time high the moment Delta Psycho-Mantis'd Eric to shoot everyone in the quantum room.

They actually did it.
They Casualized and trivialized the series' finale as a fucking entry point for newcomers to the series by introducing new, hitherto absurd or just laughable aspects, when they had so much else to draw upon.

It's not any lack of continuity that is the problem it's the fact that things that are made to be very very important in VLR are explained, yes, but then merely tossed aside. The whole OMG YOU MUST STOP RADICAL 6 became a "in one timeline Mira decides to have a little giggle at your expense and it leads to VLR but it doesn't matter in this game at all and you never really work to stop that outcome, it just sort of happens while you are doing other things!"
>>
>>342986041
Left was the son of the family who raised him. Zero is special.
Alice and clover are completly irrelevant

Yeah they had decent concepts like discussing important and relevant topics early on, and important information being revealed even during bad ends, as opposed to VLR where everybody was as secretive as possible and you learn virtually nothing of significance until certain specific endings or true route.

It really was a total disappointment in nearly every conceivable way. A massive insult and "fuck you" to actual fans of the series who genuinely wanted a conclusion and resolution to the series.
>>

The mind hack is such a piece of shit writing holy fuck I'm mad. It basically lets Uchi get away from answering any "why did Delta do thing x?" question because the answer will be "He can read everyone's minds and works towards the end goal of saving humanity!"

Like if you happen to wonder why Brother(Delta) was an antagonist in VLR and why he sent Dio to the moon to fuck things up instead of cooperating with Akane, Sigma and others the answer will be "Lol he can read everyone's minds and is merely pretending to be a villain so AB project works out!"
>>
>>342987056
Speaking of Gab
Why the fuck Delta killed him?
>>
>>342986410
Zero could've said something like if you escape from here or if a certain number of you die/don't die he'll release radical 6 to the outside world and it would happen in most timelines, except the true ending one. Now you learn that radical 6 doesn't mean shit and that Zero was the good guy all along.
>>
>>342987268
He's a bad guy
>>
About the complaints in on the ending that connects to VLR
How do we know that radical-6 only spread in the one path? We have no reason to think that Delta didn't spread it anyways in the other timelines. He only died in a portion of the timelines anyways. The reason why that timeline was the VLR one is because of the other circumstances that went with it, Sigma lost his arms and his eye and Diana caused that specific outbreak.
>>
>>342987358
>How do we know that radical-6 only spread in the one path?
That's the problem, that we don't know.
>>
>>342987268
We don't know. Maybe to spare him from a death of old age.

Why the hell was Gab CHAINED THE FUCK UP in that one bad end?
>>
>Zero is yet again a good guy when considering the big picture
How surprising.

Why were the others so mad at him at the end anyway? Especially hypocritical from Akane and Sigma considering they were also Zero before. Not to mention Akane was once Zero just to save her own fucking life, not humanity.

Mira killed Eric's mom, then the police arrested Akane's dad and him and Akane's mom died. A doctor picked a taxi that was meant for Akane's dad and the taxi got in a accident. Then, Sean died because the doctor didn't arrive. And also I guess that the old guy in Sean's story was Delta.

Man, fuck Mira.
>>
>>342987948
If you had played the previous 2 games (like myself) then it would have been pretty easy to notice how the xpasses linked to the character traits in some way, shape or form. Twas pretty obvious and drops some rather largish hints about some characters as well.
>>
It's interesting that people are already saying that things will never be explained, or that it will take another game to get answers.
The other games had plenty of things that were open, and that's why they had Q&As for them. There was a lot of important info in those and there's going to be another one for this game too. I can understand being disappointed that some stuff might be explained or shown only in a Q&A but it's not like it's anything new.

And he did.
That's why Carlos, Diana and Q can't explain why they're pressing the yellow buttons, it's because you're influencing this.
You're also observing the results, turning probability into reality.
BW is not some kind of character, YOU are BW.
>>
>>342990298

You didn't do shit, as they explained everything with Delta's 'mind hack' instead of (You)/BW being an entity in the game's world.

>>

No they didn't. That's not even possible in the timelines where Q-team was executed.
>>
>>342990648
>BW is not some kind of character, YOU are BW.
Pretty much this. Just having a scene where BW talked to characters in VLR gave people the wrong impression. It's not ZTD's fault honestly, it's VLR's.
>>
>>342990298
>>342990648
No, your perspective in ZTD is through Delta, be it in person or a security feed. Essentially, what >>342990718 said. Blick Winkel was not present within ZTD in any way, shape, or form, no matter how many times you repeat this.
>>
>>342990857
Don't assume, anon. I played ever17 years before I ever touched VLR.
>>
>>342990875
That doesn't work when there's a timeline where Delta died after the vote.
>>
>>342990875
Delta is dead in the histories where Q-team loses the vote though, so that doesn't work.
>>
>>342990995
>2 new posts
Security feed anon, Security feed.

He explicity states it in the C timeline when hes already dead and they have to shift out.
>>
>>342990846
Because at this point there were no such choices. Only the vote yellow button had character's not knowing why they did it.
>>
>>342990995
>>342991007
But Delta's motives are complex and his end-goal was to get you all to 'escape' and chase the terrorist. Plus he mentioned timelines where he was dead and alive.
>>
>>342990718
You're not an entity in the game's world, you're an observer.

BW (that is you, the player) is there to observe the game reach it's desired conclusion.

This is easily explained in Akane's talk about the Anthropic principle. The "true" timeline only exists because there is an entity observing it, in this case BW, otherwise, whatever happened inside the shelter is simply a case of Schrodinger's cat.

It's not hard to understand, BW IS in the game and he IS important.

Kyle is the only dropped plot point from VLR, that and how R-6 was supposed to be dangerous even though ZTD fails to make that clear.
>>
Hey wait I just realized, shouldn't there be a version of phi that jumps back to the vlr timeline after everything's done? When does that happen?
>>
How do I discover who is zero? I'm on the decision game where Eric killed Carlos and he asked who is zero to Q. I tried brother since I saw C-team ending that leads to VLR but it didn't triggered anything.

What the fuck Uchi. I was meant to believe that ZTD was more of a direct follow up to VLR. But this isn't that. Preventing radical 6 is in fact really easy. Guess "red" in the first 10 minutes, and close the game because you just prevented radical 6

It happens in the final scene of the game. She refuses to tell the player what happened in the DCOM facility because it would change the past.

All characters in 999, VLR and ZTD are basically just termites while you as the higher being observer can see the bigger picture?
>>
>>342990721

>>342991184
Well, I had hoped he would go full Ever17 instead It seemed possible at the the end of VLR. BW was clearly not only an observer as you force shifted Kyle to 2028
>>

>>
>>342991259
Good job not understanding.

>Red is the good outcome

No. Red is the outcome where all nine live blissfully unaware theres a terrorist about to nuke 8 billion people

Blue is the game which either leads to 6 billion nuked to prevent said terrorist, or 0 lives at the best outcome.

Red is a dead end for everyone
>>
>>342991738
Okay. I'll admit, I stopped coming to these threads about a few weeks ago when I started seeing all the fake leaks, assuming one was eventually real. Well that sucks about the watches though.
>>
>>342991586
Can't Sigma, Phi and especially Akane see the bigger picture too though, in that case?
>>
>>342991363
That's kinda the point isn't it? If Delta isn't influencing anything, then it has to be the player. Interestingly enough, the timeline where Delta dies is the timeline in which he is born and thus the one he needed to create. And that only occurs due to the player's choices, not Delta's.

>>
>>342991259
Yes, but it turns out that Radical-6 is a lesser evil compared to what happens if Rad-6 doesn't get released. The entire point of the game was to prevent a timeline from REQUIRING a Radical-6 outbreak to sacrifice 6,000,000 so that mankind's remnants could survive.

>>
>>342991504
>>342991528

I think the whole purpose of the game was dumb, is the only way to motivate people to stop a terrorist is to make them play a game where they die countless times in many different timelines just to finally meet the bad guy and hear him say "I'm actually the good guy, you can go save the world now"
>>
Even if the end game was shit, they are still pretty good scenes
The ambidex game and C-Team shifting adventures, Akane going batshit insane with the chainsaw, Phi's death in the incinerator, the whole part of Diana and Sigma trapped forever, the moment when Diana, Sigma and Phi realize they're family and they just hug each other, Junpei giving Akane the ring and more.

Too bad they dropped the ball at the end, because the game had the potential to be the best of the trilogy.
>>
>>342991928
No, they are termites, only acting because that is what they are programmed to do. Literally.
Only we, the player, can see everything.
>>
>>342991816
Anime. What's that, the not blatantly anime art style fooled you into thinking it wouldn't have anime writing / visual effects? What were you thinking?
>>
>>342991886
You should probably leave again, though.

>>342991847
A bit easier to understand is if you apply the following.

The coin toss segment, Coincide, is in a quantum superposition. There's a 50/50 chance it will be either Red, or Blue.

If it is Blue, the game is played.

If it is Red, the game is not played, and nobody remembers anything.

If it is Red, the game is not played, but people remember everything.

Red2 is only accessible by getting both Red and Blue at least once.

>>342992094
I'd understand if it was for the motives mentioned, though.

"Oh yeah, mom, dad, you two need to bang and make me and Phi, or this shit all gets fucked. Also, terrorist plot, but you guys would never believe me if I just said that outright. Also, team building I guess?
>>
>>342991801
Yeah, but Kyle is totally dropped from the game's plot.

I think VLR's epilogue was simply to introduce the concept of an outside entity (you) influencing the game's world (by observing it), it wasn't intended to be some big hint about BW being a character in ZTD.

It's reusing E17's twist in a different way.
>>
>>342992012

Was there even any reason for Delta to be Brother other than to conveniently "kill off" the pre-established villain? I don't think it would have affected the story in any way if he was Zero and Delta but not Brother. People would just be wondering what happened to the whole Brother character but now we instead wonder what the point of them being the same person was.

its the fact 4 years ago Uchi PROMISED us it was something we'd seen in ZTD

I don't know about those of you who jumped to the series recently, but we've eben waiting 4 years for this conclusion, and then the conclusion does everything but. Sure its a good game, but thsoe questions still remain just as unanswered as they were back then.

Its depressing and frustrating. I was so hyped to finally get those answers just to get nothing answered, and now even more questions piled up.

I agree with this, to be honest ZTD is underwhelming, but a lot of the criticism in these threads (like BW not being a character or not understanding the relevance of Radical 6) come from misunderstanding the story.

>>342995661
The 3DS versions has big problems, I wrote them several times already.
The resolution is fucking ass (and that plays a role in some of the puzzles) and the creators seemed to have completely missed the point of a dual screen setup. While in VLR you could make memos and look that up when inputting something, it is completely gone here, just like making notes of the log or something. It is literally only 1 screen to work and one for cinematics.
The easiest target for blame would be the PC port, as they did a good job with VLR although that also came out for the Vita, so I have no clue how they could fuck this up.

But the story would have been the same without your idea of BW because of Delta. It's not like nothing can happen in this world without some outsider watching.
Or am I missing the point you're trying to make?
>>
>>342995075
That's a fair explanation I guess.
The game did feel underwhelming to me but that's because I had crazy expectations and theories, I did think the use of BW was clever enough though, but that's only because I like quantum mechanics and I wasn't expecting the same "BW as a character" twist.

I miss Kyle, he was my favorite VLR character.

I know what blickwinkel means.

I see no misunderstanding. The concept of Blick Winkel was not even explained in VLR to the degree that he was in ever17. Plus Kyle could not jump to 2028 unless he used Blick's own body.

There was absolutely no reason at all whatsoever for Blick Winkel to be present in VLR if he was going to be ignored in ZTD.

I never had a problem with the resolution. I read that some people had and played the entire game and it never came up. Even the famed SW was because the S was on a differently angled surface that was close to the color of the actual letter, NOT because of the resolution at all, it was very well visible in terms of resolution.

Early life
Brother was born into a poor family sometime in the 20th century. Since Brother was already "so old that he can't get out of bed in 2028", this probably means he was born around the 1930s, 1940s or 1950s.

Very little is known about his background, but supposedly, he didn't know his father and he lost his mother at a young age. The only family he had was his younger brother named Left.

So here's my idea for what Blick Winkel's role was in this game.

The key to this is the history where Q-Team is executed and thus Delta is killed early on. Therefore, in this timeline, all choices are made by the player AKA Blick Winkel.

In this timeline, the decision games are as followed: The antidote is?, Gun vs Incinerator, Gift from Gab, AB Game, The Three Dice, Find the Mask, and Transporter.

And I'd argue that AB Game, The Three Dice, Gun vs Incinerator and Transporter are the most important decisions in the game.

AB Game and The Three Dice are necessary for the C-Team's involvement in the overall scheme. Carlos has to play the AB multiple times in order to realize his potential as a SHIFTer. This then leads to all of C-Team SHIFTing to other histories. It eventually ends with Akane and Junpei arriving in the VLR timeline, where they must live out the events of the previous game. But more importantly, the knowledge of SHIFTing, particularly for Carlos, passed from this timeline to another through the morphogenetic field is essential in the true ending.

The other important Decision Game is Gun vs. Incinerator. The choice that matters the most is the one in which Phi is burned and Diana acquires her brooch. This then leads to Sigma and Diana finding the transporter and they must decide to use it. The exported versions find their way to the Door to Truth. This leads to the revelation of Zero's true identity.

The most important part, however, is about the Sigma and Diana who remain after using the transporter. This is the timeline where Delta and Phi are born. This is also the specific timeline Delta absolutely needed to exist, but his older self was not alive to influence it.

In this way, Blick Winkel is the one who created Delta and thus sets up events for the entire Zero Escape series.
>>
>>342996268
You're wrong. They absolutely needed Kyle switch places with the person who played VLR. This way, the person who played VLR has no idea what happened in ZTD because Kyle's consciousness jumps into your body when you start playing ZTD. The big reveal is that you are in fact the bad guy who Zero & Co. are trying to stop and they can't let you know about their plans. As Akane says in the final scene of VLR, ? is free to travel through time and space, he isn't stuck in the moon base in 2074. That is to say, he is free to stop playing VLR and go on with his life. But the consciousness that played ZTD wasn't yours, it was Kyle's.

There's letter buttons at the top of the touch screen for the 6 input boxes, labelled A to F.
You're supposed to input one for A, change to B, input one for B, etc.
Then, press check. If you got an error, it's because some boxes were left blank or it was the wrong X-Pass.

I can't see why so many people didn't notice this.

Not really, every interpretation we have about BW comes from the VLR epilogue.

While I think my theory (about BW being you, the player, and your role being observing the true timeline making the multiple timelines collapse into a single one) fits perfectly with the quantum mechanics inspired plot, the truth is I think VLR's epilogue was simply an afterthought made to tease you about the third game, and we shouldn't take it seriously.

BW = ? = You = Morphogenetic Field = God = BW
All just different approaches to the same concept, no more different than the same deity being explained in a similiar yet somewhat different form in between religions and mythos.

If... I had to pick ONE likely candidate, though, given everything we learned in ZTD?

The Quantum Computer, and, by extension, Sean.

It is the closest similarity we have, and it fits the bill.

1908 + 26 = 1934

August 19th 1934 was the beginning of WW2
Brother amassed 1 million followers
All of which came to fall under his views
His later self creates an army of aryan clones to replace humanity based on his brother Left.

He is an alternate hitler in this timeline. Meaning this is a timeline where the Nazi regime never happened, but instead Free the soul of Y did.

Well I finished it. Damn, I'm depressed. I loved the game as a whole and will be buying it after it goes on Steam but that ending was just an awful note to end the series on.

So many unanswered questions, which I frankly saw coming and was prepared to forgive but there was also the additional sin of relegating the fucking epilogues two a 50 word summary of each team after the game just felt like a giant punch to the throat of anyone who cared about these characters.

I think a big problem that Uchi did was try make all of the story come full circle in a causality loop with the future past baby twist. Everything happened because it had to happen to make everything happen... I don't care if it technically makes sense, it's fucking boring storytelling.

At the end of the day, I still loved the game for 90% of it's runtime, but I think I prefer to think that the actual canon ending is the one that made VLR happen and perhaps another history with another Sigma and Phi had a more satisfying ending.

Hear me out here on this, okay?

The Quantum Computer exists, as does all of its' data, in a quantum superposition of '1', '0', and 'both at the same time'. It's deviced to function by sharing the workload across parallel histories, and is how Sean can access other histories' information.

Then, we have 'Artificial Reality', or VR if you want to go for that instead, which, quote unquote, "is not discernible from 'reality', Sean would never catch on to the fact that he lives in virtual space.

Then, Sean also made a similarity connecting how he functions as a receiver from the Quantum Computer as his core to that of a human, with the Morphogenetic Field.

The Morphogenetic Field is comprised, more or less, from my understanding, solely of peoples' consciences. Where their 'self' resides, so to speak.

And let's suppose that, say... Prophecies, premonitions, all that religious-based stuff is actually based off of the morphogenetic field giving insight to a few 'blessed'?

What's to stop one from drawing a similarity between that, and 'The god they worship'?

it's okay guys, just take comfort in knowing there's another history where the ending of this game makes sense and maybe another version of you was satisfied

It was not excused in any way, suddenly just BOOM ALIEN TECH BABY.

In 999 you learn the truth at the end and everything makes sense and replaying the game is pretty amazing.

In VLR they set up the consciousness shifting to other times and timelines very early on with bizarre things happening and when you finally realize what is going on it's pretty good too.

In both games you can guess the twist or at least observe things caused by it early on and it's the whole focus of the game. In ZTD however in no way can you see that coming and in no way does it matter that it was specifically alien tech.
