FC2 had challenging stealth and challenging AI despite them being bulletsponges.
FC3 is literally an easy powertrip for borderline retarded people with one hand.
The stealth was insanely dumbed down, you can run around infront of AI in yellow suit and they'll ignore you whereas in fc2 you needed to mind your surroundings and light
While gunplay is better, the retarded AI makes combat all around worse. Not to mention worthless hunting of completely retarded and player centered a-life that is quite possibly worst one ever made. You just kill animal to get upgrade and then you ignore that animal for rest of the game.
Exploration was garbage, islands were wide as a ocean but as deep as a layer of water molecules. Everthing was copy pasted and what little there was left to explore was taken away by the fact that climbing towers reveals EVERYTHING.
In fc2 you atleast had interesting exploration with diamond hunt where you completed tiny puzzles to get to diamonds based on gps beeps. And they were marked only after you got them.
Sure FC2 felt like an incomplete game but mods fix it a bit.
FC3 may have been an improvement but it is the first improvement I've seen that makes the game way way way way way worse. Not to mention fc2 select machete slice vs fc3 grind upgrade tree push a button and watch a cutscene of you killing entire camp, wow so awesome like and subscribe to my youtube channel

The Forest is pretty fast paced, you gather resources pretty quickly, you start off with an axe so you can get started right away, there's multiple totally valid ways to play like choosing between building a camp with defenses or moving around and foraging for berries and whatnot.
Enemies and trees don't respawn either so you can theoretically clear the entire game.
IMO get The Forest and if you're not having fun by an hour in refund it.

I picked up Reverie on a whim a few months ago and ended up buying another copy for a friend. Check out the trailer and if it seems like gameplay you'd enjoy, you'll probably like it. Even though the art style is cutesy, I don't think it necessarily panders to the group you mention in the way that you're afraid it might. To elaborate for anyone considering either: Gungeon is a dungeon crawler combined with bullet hell style patterns. It's most comparable to Isaac but it is not Isaac with guns. It's very polished, almost all the weapons are useful in some way or another, and the devs are planning additional content.
Nuclear Throne is a fun early access demo that the developers abandoned a while back. It isn't on sale, and will never be on sale, because the developers are complete assholes that have their heads up there asses. While initially entertaining, the game gets worse as you play it and realize what a truly half-assed job they did on the game. Buy this if you're looking for a LOL RANDOM quality 2000 new grounds era flash game.

Super comfy/creepy building/exploration game set underwater. It pretty much tells you nothing about the game and requires you to wiki things, which can turn people off from it, but once you get into it, it's fantastically comfy.

The problem is that people are going into the game expecting a full tutorial to explain what to do, finding out it tells you nothing, getting nothing, and then refunding.

I personally loved RE6 and 100% recommend it.
Controls are the most perfect I have ever experienced and it makes playing the story and mercs so much fun.
If you aren't that bothered about the story and just want a fun game, maybe even with coop, then RE6 is perfect for you.
If you are wanting a 'horror game' experience, then just buy Pathalogic HD.

Yes. It's a little on the short side but it's excellent. There's also a hard mode, you get bonus items for defeating bosses without suffering damage, and an achievement for doing a pacifist run, so there are a few incentives for replays as well.

They removed the stealth mechanic and now enemies don't even see you if you spit in their faces.

It's hard to pick old games for the first time, as open minded as you might be the graphics will test your patience and excitement. It's still an amazing game, so go get it if you want.
