Reposting in most current thread as I just missed the new bread when I originally typed this

Here is my shill of a hidden game I can recommend if you like Freelancer:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/12330/

DarkStar One

>What is it?
Spess fighting game a la Freelancer. Fight baddies, trade goods, upgrade your ship, uncover an alien plot.

>What is good about it?
It feels exactly like Freelancer, down to the amazing mouse&keyboard control scheme. It's dirt cheap at 1.50 local shekels. Runs great on modern machines (* Win10 not tested by me, up to win 8 is no problem however)

>What exactly can you do?
You are a guy, in a space ship, flying around visiting space stations in order to trade, accept missions, further the main plot. Then you go out there and shoot some baddies. It uses a star map system similiar to Freelancer: trade lanes, jump gates, big star systems with several planets & stations to dock at. You can deeply customize your ship, do you want more shields? More attack power? Your ship will change accordingly in visuals.

>Ok, what's bad about it?
Graphics aren't anything amazing in this time and age. You cannot change ships, instead since you're piloting a prototype ship you need alien artifacts to upgrade it. Think of it like this: there's 30 artifacts hidden in the game (mission rewards from story missions, hidden in huge asteroid mines you have to carefully fly into and extract them etc.). Each time you gather one of those 30 you are presented with a choice on how to upgrade your craft. Wanna go faster? Or rather have more defense? Some upgrades come with perks. In the end, you will have a unique ship since there are not enough artifacts in game to unlock everything. You have to carefully choose.

>Alright, I'm gonna try, what do I have to lose at 1.50 bucks?
http://store.steampowered.com/app/12330/
Good on ya, now get out there and weep the fact that we're never getting a Freelancer 2 with today's graphics capabilities!

>>
>>342577349
Pillars of Eternity is fucking boring, just about any modern cRPG beats it out in terms of not putting you to sleep.

Darkest Dungeon has been condemned by few as a RNG fest. This isn't quite true. What is true is that it's a fucking grindwall. A pointless, annoying grindwall that deliberately wastes your time over the stupidest shit and has no failure state.

Ditch those two. Try Shadowrun: Dragonfall/Hong Kong instead.
>>
So all these prices stay the same until July 4th?

>>
>>342577349
honestly I'd say no to all of those
Darkest Dungeon is chock full of bad design, prepare to sink 100 hours doing a whole shitton of grinding only to lose a hero at level 6 to a random crit

stardew is decent, but honestly rune factory 4 is better

PoE is just an inferior Divinity: Original Sin

Can't comment on One Way Heroics
>>
>>342577478
1 by a fucking avalanche. 0 is just jank horsecrap that's there for Resident Evil purists.

Underrail is alright. Rewards exploration over combat, has some weird pacing jumps, but is overall fun.
>>
>>342577492
Yeah steam sales suck now. Nothing new, no flash sales or community votes. No games or anything, just go through your queue for a few shit cards.
>>
>>342577363

>>
>>342577628
It is also $45 off
>>
>>342577512
>Ryse: Son of Rome

This game is just really not good. It's "cinematic" approach is ruined by it's "immersive" camera and extremely questionable approach to "gameplay". The graphics are fine but the rest is literally just a very bad hack and slash. I'd recommend Darksiders instead.
>>
>>342577512

Sonic Adventure 2 is on Humble Bundle.

$45 off for shitty levels, shitty combat, shitty story, shitty fucking everything that sold itself on some pretty graphics.

You're not saving $45, you're burning $5.

Xenoverse is shit. It somehow has even worse gameplay than Raging Blast 2. Don't get it.

Also I didn't know Mirror's Edge was still sold on Steam nice
>>
>>342577475
If this is some kind of special peripheral I wouldn't count on it. This game was made by a rag tag team of underpaid slav or german developers, coding from under a bridge. It works and is 99% bug free, but anything more than that I doubt is possible.
>>
>>342577762
I hope you've got friends or a mic with a tolerance for dipshits or else CS: GO isn't going to be much fun at all.

Hey guys.

What are some good multiplayer games to play with friends?

>bonus points for survival
>>
>>342577512
Sonic Adventure 2 aged like milk, and it's also on the Humble Bundle if you really do hate yourself that much.

PoE really failed to capture my interest, speaking as someone who really likes CRPGs, especially ones with lots of diplomacy and negotiation. I didn't like the combat or the exploration either, just because if you aren't in search mode you run the risk of missing out on things, and search mode is slow.

There could be good aspects to the game that are hidden later on but I couldn't make it much further than the start of Act II. As for what to add, I feel obligated to recommend Dragon's Dogma if you haven't played it and like ARPGs. If not, Shadowrun Dragonfall and Hong Kong are good turn-based C-ish RPGs.
>>
>>342577873
Like $20-30
All in one day.

Play them all.
>>
Only bought The Long Dark so far, wanted it for a while.

Got paid today though, gonna have some fun.
>>
>>342577873
I make a list the first day of what I want and then on the last day decide if my hype has worn off for any of the original list. Spend about 30 bucks because I don't wanna be too disappointed in myself when I just play warframe instead.
>>
>>342577512

Buy MGR and thank me later faggot. It's more fun than all of these games combined.
>>
>>342577849
Don't Starve Together is the only option. Anything else (DayZ, ARK, every other indie survival FPS crap) is worthless. Don't Starve Together is goat however and you will horribly die pretty soon after starting. Then you learn, what can you do better, and it just works, you add another days to the counter. The survival begins - then winter dawns and the cycle begins anew
>>
>>342576970
Worth?
>>
>>342577991
100% agree with this guy. It's not a "modern CRPG" thing either because I played the everloving fuck out of Divinity:OS, but I tried to get a refund on PoE because it just bored the shit out of me. Even fucking swordcoast legends was better.
>>
>>342577873
I have about 250 games with about 20 percent completion and about 30 perfect played. I suck.
>>
>>342577825
I thought CS: GO was the popular multi player shooter, because I've been looking to broaden my gaming since I've just been playing weeaboo games and mmos.

>>342577901
Won't I miss out on the lore?

>>342577907
>>342577937
What's wrong with the Duck Tales remastered?
>>
>>342577273
Ever get that feeling of deja vu?
>>
>>342577873
No point not buying everything you want on the first day anymore since the deals don't change. Before I had to be strategic and wait to see what each day had in store before picking and choosing things. No reason to do that now. I had a budget of $60 for the whole sale, already spent half and am going to sleep on my decision for the rest since I'm currently torn between a few things and nobody seems capable of telling me if Ashes of the Singularity is worth it.
>>
>>342576970
I bought the Stalker series.
>>
>>342577936

nothing major, it's just exactly what it sounds like, a newer version of the thing you probably played as a kid

it's nothing amazing or groundbreaking, just a relatively decent time, so if you want it make sure you actually want it

generations is worth even if it was just the city escape remastered level.

Get it on humble, you'll pay ten bucks and get that and like 15 other games right now.

I got it on a Humble Bundle and it got stale in 3 picoseconds.

nope, and in fact the 20 dollar ones are for Dota, so when you enter the wallet code it tries to take you to the Dota store page.

>>342578482
I guess I'll finally open a card up then. Setting up bank account + debit will probably waste most of my day tomorrow.
>>
>>342578212
That's true, but in this game the journey is truly the reward. Without looking anything up it will take player(s) a good while to overcome the obstacles DST throws at you.
I owned Don't Starve from a sale years back but never really played it. Started it once but that's it. Then one day I get an email from Klei saying they develop a multiplayer variant and are giving out keys. They sent me two keys so I started playing it with a friend and it was an absolute blast. Going in blind with another person.. this game is the true survival game for me.

It's very obvious when posts starts referencing parts of posts that don't exist, then the initial "poster" replies again with even less sense to the discussion.

I was that way for a while, I've gotten a little better since I quit multiplayer stuff (MMOs, dota, cs) and got busier irl. Now I barely have time for vidya, so the time I spend with it I make count. A couple hours a day, and not every day. I'm enjoying singleplayer games again and that's the best part.

Hmm.

Call of Pripyat is a lot of fun modded, I enjoy misery and its 10,000 ways to contract fatal diseases.

Shadow of Chernobyl has the best story and is fun modded as well.

I would say go for Shadow Of Chernobyl cause Call of Pripyat takes place afterwards anyways.

Play on master and get a light mod for SoC just for visuals, consult the VG guide.

Firewatch isn't really bad, but it's 3 hours long at absolute most, plenty of people finished it in less and is just a really linear walking simulator. Story isn't particularly interesting either and not really relevant to the title/setting (more relationship drama than park ranger trying to stop fires).. Really good voice acting though.

Stanley Parable is good, if for no other reason than the writing.
From the same developer, there's also the Beginner's Guide which is ever so slightly pretentious, but interesting nonetheless.

Controversial opinion on /v/, but Gone Home is also somewhat interesting. It does a pretty good job at presenting the illusion of exploration, although the writing is total garbage.

Stanley Parable is good if you like the 4th wall heavy game humor.

Which of these should I get? Here is why I haven't gotten them:

>transformers
Seems short and just pure action, which is fine, I loved Revengece from the same studio.

>strania
I love shumps but I have a backlog of a lot of them.

>Shovel Knight
I just know of the hype but I don't know much else about it. Seemed like classic action adventure.

>gothic
Looks fun but not that deep, and at that price I am not that interested.

>DMC4
Same as other action games. Have a sort of backlog of this genre.

>elite dangerous
I have heard VERY mixed things about this game. I want to dogfight in space and shoot pirates/pirate other stuff, but apparently there is tons of down time. And people keep saying "wait for ____" whatever

>dragons dogma
I keep hearing really mixed things about this game too. It looks like the sort of game I'd be interested in but apparently there are brutal balance issues and the story is complete ass.

>Stellaris
Lot of hype and I have been really into 4x games, but not much else to go on.

You have to save the world before a real-time timer counts down to far, meaning you have to do little quests all over the place in the most time efficient order, which there's no way to know without googling a guide until you have the layout memorized, by which time it will be too late for that playthrough.

It exists mostly as a vehicle for the costumes, yes, but it's not literally a h-game if I gave you that impression.
>>
>>342579638
You will enjoy it starting out but as you move onto the higher difficulties (and you will because it's how you get the best gear), you will not be happy. When your team wipes, you have to start the entire level again. The game turned out to be a less fun version of L4D2.

>I keep hearing really mixed things about this game too. It looks like the sort of game I'd be interested in but apparently there are brutal balance issues and the story is complete ass.

here let me lay it out for you

there are serious and glaring balance issues if you play on hard mode, specifically at the start of the game (where you get absolutely shit on by goblins throwing oneshot rocks at you) and at the endgame DLC (where it takes 6 minutes to kill some larger enemies that can nearly oneshot you) unless you play as a class that heavily invests in HP and defense

the combat system is pretty varied, though playing as a magic user can be kind of tedious from what I saw

the story isn't anything amazing but it's certainly not bad

>>
>>342579601
Shovel Knight is very heavily inspired by the classic Mega Man games, very fun and totally deserving of the hype and love.

Elite Dangerous is awesome, but you essentially have to make your own fun. It literally just dumps you in a massive galaxy sandbox with a shitty ship and expects you to figure shit out. Do the tutorials, look up some starting guides if you need some help. I quite enjoy it, it really makes you feel like a space traveler, but it's not for everyone and can get repetitive if you just end up grinding shit like trading all the time. Once you start getting enough money to buy better ships and can do more combat and exploration, it gets really enjoyable. Good game if you just want to relax and fly around to, kind of like Euro Truck but in space if you just want to run deliveries.
Wait on Stellaris for right now, still needs a lot of work and content additions. It's good, but feels like it's still in beta or some shit and will likely be much better later this year after they finish fixing things and add more stuff.
>>
>>342579638
They randomized the tome/grim drops (the things that determine your loot roles) which effected new players' ability to grind the Horn (first map) for blue gear before moving on.

Community isn't dead, but you will want a friend with the DLC so that you can get into those maps, and the endgame is miserable because of the lack of checkpoints on even the longest levels.

It's fun, but is very much an inferior version of Left 4 Dead with Warhammer flavor and it gets frustrating and tiresome kind of quickly. Fun, but short and it's not an actual sequel or expansion so there's not much story to it. Kind of weird side thing that was more focused on combat than anything else. Play it if you've already played the main game, but don't substitute it because it doesn't compare at all.

I noticed a small timer on the screen and realized everything was all timed, it kind of ruined the game for me. I don't even think I got a quarter way through it.
I bought LP2 on steam because it finally went on sale but it never worked, I got the Microsoft games thing that keeps coming up.

If you're the kind of person who gets even mildly frustrated at competitive multiplayer, especially when your teammates are trash and lose you the game, drop CS:GO.

Most of your list is damn good though. 9/10 taste.

DMC4 is great fun and so is DD:DA. Neither of them have amazing stories, but I wouldn't say DD's is ass. It's a bit abstract in its execution but it's serviceable. The only parts of the game that stick out to me that could be seen as 'brutal' balance wise are if you pick an unbalanced group of pawns or if you play hard mode. Hard mode was an after thought and isn't particularly well balanced. The post game and the DLC can be difficult as well, but not overly so (at least your first 'playthrough' of the DLC; after that it will kick your ass).

Would highly recommend both of them.

Vermintide is okay
Spess Marine is fun as hell, but ends on a cliffhanger and they cancelled the sequels
Battleship Gothic: Armada is good
Dawn of War series is great and cheap atm
Haven't played Total War: Warhammer (not as into Warhammer fantasy as I am 40k) but it got good reviews

If you mean the mobile ports, roughly 95% of those are shit. I've heard Talisman is all right (Horus Heresy is the best part of the lore, after all) but never played myself.

I own both games but only played through Divinity Original Sin.

I'd recommed D:OS, it's a very fun game (even better if you have a friend to co-op the whole game with). Remember that crowd control is king.

Although I'm a huge cRPG fan that was hyped as fuck for PoE it never really hooked me. I think the artstyle and maps are beautiful but I don't know, I played until you reach the first city (and that's really not far in) until I had enough of it already. Maybe I'll try again this summer but from those two I can only recommend Divinity Original Sin and I can do so 100%. Great fucking game.

I've never been a fighting game guy, but I had the chance to play MK vs DC a few months ago and I really liked it. Also played SF x Tekken but I much prefer MK's gameplay. I wish MK9 was on sale, since that one seems to be recommended a lot.

Considering I was not impressed with SF x Tekken, should I go for Ultra SF 4? I don't think I'll be playing online though. Was thinking about Skullgirls also, but I'm not fond of the art style or that getting all the extra characters costs 13 eurobucks.

I've never played Harvest Moon, but isn't that popular because of shit like waifus and RPG mechanics? If so, then no, it's not. You start with a few farm buildings, a few vehicles like a tractor and a combine, and one field. You need to manually till your fields, plant your seeds, and then harvest when it grows (it's sped up so doesn't take too long for the crop to be ready for harvest) then as you keep doing this you earn money by selling crops so you can buy more land and better equipment and shit. It was weirdly enjoyable in its stone faced tedium, like Euro Truck Simulator.

USF4 still has quite a few matches online, although you'll be running into the same guys quite often. It's a nice game to break your teeth on because of the wide variety of characters.
Skullgirls has really good tutorials for beginners, not as good as Guilty Gear Xrd/Revelator but probably one of the better ones in teaching you the all around fundamental concepts of fighting games.

I feel like there is a fun game underneath everything, but I just can't find it. I can't get the party I want because of how difficulty levels separate who can do what missions based on their level. I can't get the classes I want because its pure RNG. Some of the dungeons, like the Warrens, are made of pure annoyance. And RNG can wipe your whole party out before you can blink.

ITs got good parts but I'm just too shitty at the game to really find them.

If you like the genre then I'd say so. You don't have to play any of the other games in the series; they're each self-contained stories, although Hong Kong has some little references to Dragonfall that you won't pick up on. But that's all very minor.

If you only get one, get Dragonfall. If you've already played Dragonfall and want more, Hong Kong will satisfy your need.

if you have problems with party wipes and not getting teams together you should invest in the stage coach and keep doing lvl1 missions. doing a short/medium mission with four lvl0 heroes and then just dismissing them if you don't want to keep them to get new people is a good way to keep a roster together.

get bleeders or marked synergies for warrens. i think the game only gets dickingly hard when you start doing champion missions.

I enjoyed Grim Dawn for a few days and then stopped playing it. I loved Titan Quest and so I pirated the game. It was fun don't get me wrong. But there was too much lore in my opinion. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but the story kept regurgitating this whole Grim Dawn theme and I got tired of keeping track of all the names and relationships, types of magic, gods and shit.

With Titan Quest it was all mythology, I didn't have a problem following that.

D3 if you get reaper of souls is worth playing each season. And maybe even longer term if the rumors about a new expac announcement this year are true.

Summer (or winter) sales used to be fun but this is just awful. Most games barely have a 50% sale, companies like bethesda try to fool us and there isn't any fun left to it (checking daily if the game you want is cheaper etc.)

Pirated it. I'm going to wait a year for Paradox to get off their lazy asses and make it a fleshed out game
>>

Honestly only get Alan Wake if you can get it and American Nightmare together. Also I believe it goes on sale for cheaper at times and even then it's alrighhhht.
>>
>>342582469
The community itself isn't that bad. There's always some assist playing music thru his mic and while you can mute them, it's still not very enjoyable. Sometimes I don't want to hear that shit, ya know?

When I said community servers, I mean servers that aren't run by valve. Private servers if you will. I have only found a couple good ones. It's mostly Surf maps and bunny hop shit.

It's pretty much the only game I play, especially lately. I got back into Diablo 3 for about a year again but I dropped that and started playing alot more csgo.

why isn't hitman on sale

What kind of backwards-ass logic is this? If you actually like LotR, you'll hate Shadow of Mordor because it butchered the lore.

The base Alan wake is a must play if you like twin peaks, though. Shame remedy didn't stick with open world.

>>342582827
I remember I watched a lets play before buying it. Don't let the port thing be to daunting, you don't have to understand wtf is happening with the events and choices. Think of them as charging stations where every port has something different to offer. You can collect news, like an item, and use that news maybe in another port as a decision in one of their events. It's all about exploring, combat takes a little bit to get used to, at some point you get really good at picking battles and avoiding hard ones.

You will die a lot. There's a generation type system in there you can use if you like to save some key things for the next playthrough. But it isn't extremely necessary if you get gud.
>>
What would you recommend based on my most played?

Fugg off

The concept is pretty simple, just pick a direction and go sailing. Collect reports, bring them home, repeat. There's a shitton on quests and other such things you're pick up on the way, but they're easy to pick up as long as your paying attention.
dont skip dialogue if you wanna play, though. Not only is it gold, but there's no objective markers so if you miss an important line of text you're pretty fucked.

You get given a select few units at the start, can requisition new units and/or refill units at certain points. There's also a gamemode where you just control a single HQ unit against waves of enemies.

It's... okay. I struggle to consistently play the game because within a game there is no upgrading through tiers and shit, making forward bases etc, but the gameplay for what it is isn't too bad.

I hated it personally. The turn based strategy parts and dialogue stuff with the various characters on your airship (like in Starcraft 2, but more in-depth like an RPG) were awesome but the RTS battles that are the core gameplay are horrendous and nigh impossible to win because the AI cheats so hard on top of the obtuse mechanics.

>>342583325
The core fun for me in Fallout games is the exploration and lore and 4 has that in droves.

The Sims-esque settlement building and robot shit has no interest for me, however.

Overall Fallout 4 is worth a play.
>>
>>342584274

>>342584507
I'm having fun fucking with settlement shit get my own Bartertown going but loots and shoots always fun imo.
>>
>>342584507
Could have done better with the environments. But that's another thing about FO4. It has breadth, not depth. There are hundreds of places to explore.

The shit you find in those places go on to contribute to the building, robotshit, settlement management. You make caps from shops, eliminating that need. You make raw veggies and fruits, for cooking meals. Now you can make armour and weapons if you want to outfit your settlers. You can even make ammo now, which is another god send for survival mode. I'm telling you give it another chance. Pirate the DLCs if you have to.
>>
Hard west any good?
>>
>>342584675
I like making a few settlements, it's useful in game. But I feel a little fucked over that instead of giving you enough settlements for all your needs, Bethesda forces you to make more
>>
>>342580180
>>342581021
But put the settings on the lowest and enjoy the sstory instead, else it will be too repetitive and boring. take it in as a movie.
>>
>>342584675
I messed about with it a little but the fact that it has no real bearing on the game kind of sucks. In of itself, I can see why it's fun. It would be cool if you had to use settlements to get shit, ie, if you want energy weapons, you dedicate a settlement to making them, or maybe just the mods.

I'm glad you are enjoying it though.
>>
>>342584694
