I don't want to play it because the setting and tone completely push me away. I really enjoyed the darker tone of the SMT games; I enjoyed the lighter tone of Persona 3 where both you and other people open up to one another to make life's journey worth it. I even enjoyed Persona 4's setting, even though it was mostly otaku wish fulfillment pandering where you're the coolest guy on the planet who can do no wrong. I also enjoyed the earlier FE games before Awakening, especially PoR and RD.
This game is about a group of idols using the power of song, dance, and friendship to stop the bad guys. Like, the main character literally says "We'll show them through the power of friendship!" in one of the trailers.

I don't really understand this, and I've mentioned it before only to get responses of "I want to try and have some impact on business practices."
If the censorship is bad enough to avoid paying, why play it at all? If it's bad enough to support a complete monetary boycott to the company, why is it still worth any of your time? It's this bizarre, hypocritical moralization to it that gets me. If you don't want to pay at all, or just want to pay less, sure. But the idea that it's so bad that it requires a company changing policy but not you actually avoiding the product is baffling.

I recall something about the Bravely Default games and FE: Awakening being in there, though I know the second had closer ties between the translation team and NoA.

2.) Story changes can only be know from leaks and early release footage. The changed story of the gravure dungeon was only know when the footage leaked and since the stuff that was changed was integral to the dungeon plot.
