A lot of people are saying that. Not much of the stuff is explained thoroughly in the game. It just takes getting used to. But, to answer your question remember to press R for your companions to search the room for key or other items. Also anything that you can interact with will sparkle with gold.

You could be its not necessary. Theres alot of variations with character builds and they show you the perk requirements on the character sheet. Theres no skill refund so save before leveling if you cant stand that. Pure guns, crossbow trapper, chem gunner, pure psy, pure melee, psy monk, crafting god to simply steamroll with high spec equips, riot police. Caltrops + metal boots or even a perk is a great combo, or even flashbang and sunglass metal helmets to go full riot police

Games have been animated since the late 80s, get your shit together man. It takes literally 7 seconds to set up an animation in something like Unity, provided you have the sprite sheet. The only reason you wouldn't have a sprite sheet is if you have a lazy artist.
Which don't get me wrong, I've worked with a bunch of artists and they're lazy as fuck. Still no excuse to sell people an unfinished product (which is a term that is used too liberally here, but not having sprites animate IS unfinished. It's like selling a car without seats or a steering wheel).

It just means that you're working 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, not 8 hours 5 days a week. Sorry, that's the life of an indie dev. Get used to it. If you're not going to put the time in to make a competitive product, someone else will (and they do, regularly).
Game is kinda fun, initially I thought combat would heavily favor the defender, but it actually favors the guy who is one movespace away who dashes in for reckless first strikes. Specializations are neat as well although not exactly in depth.
The art is a bit... blatantly homosex, which is a tad annoying since I think bara looks dumb but whatever the sprite art is cool and you can customize your guy or gal pretty well too.
It's like 18 bucks for a game that apparently lasts 50 hours so if you like it I think that's probably a fair price.

Okay, this is the build I'm going with right now:
Chaotic (not guilty in court -> admit guilt in jail) Maledictus -> you get the Demon rescuer every time for that companion bonus
Dump 5 points into blast and 4 into Weave skill (+1 to Hunt to save up for crit), make your demon supporter get blast as well at level 2 for double blasting fools. Weave is useful early for that extra exp from tutorial dungeon and weave challenges and later for recruiting bitches.
Bato focuses on guarding/tanking shit due to his HP passive, and gets the bow from the Dullahan hut to contribute at range when necessary.
PS: make sure to keep at least 1 space away from demon because he'll risk your shit up due to his passive. Also his blasts are fire.

Oh neat, I was wondering whether a thread might be up. Saw a thread on this last night and started playing today. Enjoying it so far. Character customization, both appearance and stat-wise, seems pretty fun. Huge sucker for turn-based tactics shit, too. Started off as a confessed necromancer so I could get myself an undead friend, kinda wish his undead-edness had a greater effect on his abilities rather than being a silent companion.
Tried out the custom sprites thing too, but since I suck at spriting from scratch I just threw in a fire emblem edit I made once. I think it clashes with the overall style a little, but I'll make do with it for now.
Anyone tried any fancy builds yet?

If you want an easy time as a mage, reroll until you get paladin girl. She specializes in both guard and warding, which makes her the perfect tank mage protector.
Healing only activates if you defend. You only heal companions if they stand right next to you, that is, only at a single tile distance.

Style differences (within a certain margin) aren't so bad for player characters, I find. I interpret it as a visual representation of the je ne sais quoi that sets you apart from the other characters in the game.
