Just because he's moving around as a man outside doesn't quite mean that Ganondorf isn't trying to further Calamity Ganon goals or that he's trying to fight off Demise. One of Ganon/dorf's best tricks over the years has been projecting his spirit and/or possessing people from beyond the various seals that contain him. His full power can be sealed behind Hyrule's walls but still project an avatar beyond. It's a bullshit cheat but genuinely a major part of why he's able to come back, more often than not.

It's a solid game if you don't have a problem with the stylus controls. It also has one of the best Zeldas in the series and there's a lot of interaction between her and Link, assuming you care about story and characters at all.

The only problem with this theory is that the temple of time is there. Also, they're talking about ganon and not malladus, ganon wouldn't be at the new hyrule, he never was.
I think a more likely scenario, if we're trying to put this in the windwaker timeline, is that this is the hyrule that was submerged. That would explain all the mountains everywhere - they'd be all the islands that were in WindWaker.
You could argue that spirit track's hyrule still exists, across a different ocean, while all of Breath of the Wild is taking place.
This could also explain the damage to the temple of time, it's been submerged for thousands (millions?) of years, this could explain the sword being rusted, and it could even potentially explain link's origins, as if you recall, there's already a bunch of iconography of the hero of time in the submerged hyrule in windwaker.
It wouldn't be unfeasible for them to have sealed link away pre-flood and for this to have survived until now.

Well according to nintendo the Plateau is less than 1% of the map, which is 360km2 total. This means they are saying its twice as big as the witcher 3 map. From the demo, that map is not even as big as skyrims, so the full map would have to be 4-6 times larger than the one we saw. Where were you when nintendo couldnt count?

Which I recognize it's ironic I posted that picture before.
SS had sword progression, great dungeons, story backtracking gave you completely new ways to play the area, the silent realms were great, the majority of the bosses were great, the story was great, as well as the main characters and it was direct to the point, which is what many people were complaining about TP. Yes, the game is linear, but that isn't a flaw, it was just different.
Not to mention the motion controls, while not perfect, where a lot of fun. I'm gonna miss them.

Decided to do a bit of math to figure out how much average game time one should expect out of BotW in terms of hours, if the plateau here is the size of one Ocarina of Time's entire map size.
The average time it takes approx. to get from the Deku Tree spot to the Spirit Temple's entrance (aka one end of the map to the other) is about 10 minutes and 30 seconds, with loading times not counted towards total time. So, A single "OoT Unit" is about worth 10 and a half minutes of traversing without any interruptions or so forth from point A to B.
Now then, seeing the map size we at least have to work with (could even be larger still), it's approx. 10 Plateaus thick, and at least 8 of them in "height". So with such math, if you were to start at one corner of the map and keep walking endlessly to the other corner at the opposite side, it'd take you approx. an average of over 2 hours and 8 minutes to do it. Not to mention all the shit to do, things to explore and discover, things to murder, shit to climb and so forth as well to deal with.
Basically, I'm gonna guesstimate that all in all, your first playthrough anons will be about on average 100-200 hours total by the time you hit the ending, for those who didn't decide to try to murder the final boss right away.

What if these "spirit orbs" that the Sheikah monks give you are actuallyfragments of the hero's spirit?I mean, Link DOES absorb them into his chest...That would further imply that this Link really is artificial and that his "humanity" as a hero and a "person" is earned and rewarded over time. It's being transferred to him, in a sense. If he completes these hero trials, he will essentially become "human" enough to defeat Calamity Ganon with relative ease.This makes it all the more suspicious with the old man collecting the husks of these things in exchange for sweet skills.

SS was a big let down
I had two major gripes of it
1) lack of populated places you save. I like the formula where most of the dungeons you beat are directly tied to whatever is plaguing the locals
2) all that repetition. every major region you had to o back to and unlock a second dungeon in the same area, which mostly had the same aesthetic as the other dungeon in that area. you fight fatworm demise what, four time? the only difference is he's slightly faster, and it's not a good boss fight to begin with. You have to collect those damn goddess tears like five times too, and with way stricter rules than when you did in in TP. rules that made you start from scratch if you fuck up once.

I get it but I dunno man, I liked it because it felt clearly apocalyptic. You still found some primitive life like those bulbasaur penguins and those proto-zoras, but also you had to use the timestones to see the little robots working.
The point this time was, after all, activating Hylia's stuff and passing her tests so you could become a person capable of balancing the triforce. Storywise it's effective and cool.
As for Demise in his pajama mode, yeah I admit it was tedious, but it didn't bother me that much until I had to fight him multiple times for the Hylian Shield in the boss rush. Otherwise I didn't care and sealing him wa satisfactory, especially considering you were timed and that pumped me out.
For that matter the goddess tears was just a cool excuse to feel stripped and weak against the guardians, which was also tense. In TP it was boring because there was no tension, but this time you have a sense of urgency.

This "Convergence" theory, that this is going to be all the timelines meeting, doesn't make very much sense to me.
There isn't really anything in the game that would suggest it, it just seems like wishful thinking to me - even then, I don't know why anyone wants that.

Temple of time is sitting exactly where it's been this entire time, the city has been eroded away or destroyed through war, or whatever, the decaying temple is the only remains.
Koroks could have been separated from the deku tree, or more realistically, since the deku tree's spores were spread, there's other deku trees that they're close to. Also, several koroks were seperated from the deku tree in that game.
The goddess statues could simply be a retcon, or been constructed since we last saw the temple.
Wolf link is a noncanon DLC bonus.
These are way more rational explanations than trying to cram 3 timelines together because of an amiibo.

I don't think so, they wouldn't have put all of this interesting stuff in the game in the first place if they weren't atleast thinking about it. Nope. First it was the original LoZ. It was meant to be post apocalyptic and instead of the triforce you get computer chips.

Zelda has gone full-crazy with its stories before - Wind Waker, Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening are the best examples.
And seeing how many stale traditions they're breaking with this game, whose to say they won't do anything new and insane with the plot or the narrative? We already know that the plot is malleable, and that bits and pieces are discovered depending on how you progress through the game.

It's in interesting in the same way that Dark Souls lore is interesting.
Hyrule is in a cycle of war, of apocalyptic events and ages of peace. It's interesting that people will talk about how Zelda has "no story" when Skyward sword was basically marketed as being the explination of the story - and it did so.
You have the shiekah/twili race who appear to have invented time travel but in the process ripped themselves from the physical plane and becoming trapped in the Twilight realm.
Their actions created the split timeline that occurs from Ocarina of time - being the ones who created the ocarina.
Skyward sword's story explains the (presumed) origins of the endless cycle that's ravaged hyrule not only throughout it's history, but through multiple different timelines. Demises curse still affecting the land thousands of years later.
You have the hero of time heralded as some biblical level figure by the inhabitants of some hyrules, or cursed as a failure in others.
