Not for their skills usually, besides some niche ones, but their amazing stat growth and access to the best weapons.

DFO is fun but my god the end game is awful, and they rush you to it like mad with all the free exp bonuses.
Paladins in BG2 were generally better than fighters.
Extra specialization points past the initial 2 mattered little compared to the first game and they had more versatility, a better stronghold questline, and better equipment available.
The only outlier being kensai/mage combos, but you're bringing mages into that equation so it's kinda null and void.

priest was better overall at killing undead monsters and is the fastest class for levelling no doubt, but paladin wasn't half bad either.

i even tried to put myself into danger, on purpose, in areas i wasn't high enough level to be in.
everything just ignored me, where as in ragnarok i would run through areas such as grasshoppers when im really stupidly low level and it was a hell of a thrill trying to survive.

Cast on pressure was like two seconds and 2k coming from a target you can't damage effectively plus 40% sp drain a hit means you're out of sp in two to three hits and taking raw damage that you can't reduce. Most classes are done in 3 to 4 hits from it. And that's just 1v1. Given a group scenario it could be pretty devastating to the enemy team.

Its not that good given it has a really long delay, so you either cast it real fast and are stuck in a 2 second delay (not including a 1 second ASPD animation delay) or you cast it slow but have less animation base delay but still have a forced 2 second delay.
