All the ones I'm very familiar with are Jun Fukuyama, Mamoru Miyano and Tomokazu Sugita.
I like Mamoru a lot from all the shoujo series he's in, but everything else as well. He's the only one where I feel like I'm missing out by not having it in JP.

I'd be distracted the whole time his character talks, unless it was a joke character or something.
Jun Fukuyama is also very good, but he's just MC and so it really doesn't matter.
Everyone else I've seen in one or two things but they haven't made an impression.
I had to look up what they had been in, since the list here isn't really great in my opinion.
I don't watch Railgun, Gundam, Sword Art Online and Naruto.
Medaka Box and Anohana characters aren't making me rush for the JP version.
I just feel like the JP is a little over hyped, but I haven't seen all those shows listed so I could be missing out on what everyone's been going on about.

Otherwise, it sounds like you just haven't watched much anime, since most of those others are pretty fucking famous.
Rina Satou isn't really god-tier, but with roles like Misaka and Ange, her voice would be perfect for Makoto.
Hoshi Soichiro is most famous for Yamato Kira, who is basically the most popular character ever among japs, but I think he showed a ton of expressiveness as Lio in Kara no Kyoukai 7.
Jouji Nakata has a fucking amazing, deep voice, perfect for an ominous villain.
Tomatsu Haruka is meh, but she's voiced popular characters.
Ikeda Shuuichi is legendary, and voices Char a.k.a the most iconic/memorable villain in anime.

I feel like that list inherently flawed since it covers popular characters and not the range of each character.
