Overwatch is definitely going to do well, but I'm not gonna trust Blizzard's numbers when they clearly lied about how many WoW subs and Hearthstone players they had. It's just something to make them look more appealing to investors.
Blizzard also released some additional statistics as well, including the number of payload games won, which if we assume has a 50% win rate, meant that the average Overwatch players has only played 6-7 games of matchmaking.

It really is fascinating, but I'm a businessfag. I hope we get an in depth analysis and interviews about the decision making process of both games one day.
From what I remember, Blizzard made an MMO (called Titan, right?) that got far into development but they deemed it wasn't fun. They canceled the game, but instead of firing everyone on the team, they had them work on a new game (Overwatch) using some of the assets and using the lessons they learned on Titan and so far it's a success.
Meanwhile, Battleborn is Gearbox's most expensive game and seems to have made every wrong decision possible.

im one of those 10 million overwatch players, i tried to get a refund on day 1 after release but couldnt because i played for more than 5 hours. Havent touched the game ever since, i kinda expected them to at least do some changes between release and open beta, instead they did nothing but count preorder money. Maybe in a couple of months once they balance it enough for PC, add proper ranking system with hero locks, add another 20 heroes, i'll consider giving it another try. Now the game is basically "HotS 2.0 : The FPS", its going through the same problems that hots did, and hots only now is getting decent enough, after a whole fucking year, i hope they'll do it faster with overwatch, but considering hots was somewhat closer to their history of gamedev consisting of isometric clickers, and overwatch is their first attempt at FPS genre - i doubt it will ever become good

You do know there are ways to counter every ultimate right? They all server wide announce they are doing a ult so you can take measures to not get fucked up by them. Hanzo's ult can be easily countered by using your movement skills to get the fuck out of the way, Reaper is a case of keeping a eye on him when he starts acting funny and shoot the fuck out of him once he tries, DVA can be countered by anything you can stand behind, ect. The problem is that there are absolutely no cues for enemy ult percentages.
In tf2, your spy can see enemy uber percentage, and if the enemy medic has uber, his medigun glows and has a static effect. THERE ARE NO CUES in overwatch besides JUSTICE RAINS FROM ABOVE and DIE DIE DIE. literally the only way to read the enemy ult % is to die and read it from the killfeed. it's dumb. it doesnt reward awareness, it rewards you for getting lucky.

It's a really good FPS. Characters have variety and the balance isn't quite as off as some people think it is - doesn't mean Blizzard isn't going to be trapped into an endless nerf/buff cycle yet again, of course. Tickrate's a bit janky.
It's really good to see FPSes experiencing a resurgence by being once again allowed to not be, well, brown and serious and "modern". First D44M, then Overwatch, and BF1 looks all fun and biplaney. What next, Tribes?

It sucks. I have both games. Overwatch is fun, but I can already tell that I'm going to get bored with it by next month. Battleborn is riddled with problems, but it honestly has more lasting game play value. I wanted both to succeed, and I feel sorry for BB.
The other big problem was that Battleborn rushed the game to try to compete with Overwatch. They should have just pushed it to December. By that point Overwatch hype would have died down and a lot of the problems with BB could have been fixed.
