What does /v/ think of these games? I, personally, love them despite their flaws.
I found that scene in very well done in both games.
>Mafia 2
Missed opportunity: the game.
>>340948562
poor man's GTA
>>340948906
Honestly, I prefer them over GTA, I prefer the time period more story driven style, so.
mafia was good
we'll never know how good mafia 2 was since they cut 80% of the game
>>340948562
>flaws
well, first one was pretty much flawless. i don't think any game managed to top mafia 1 story+storytelling
>b-but gameplay
gameplay was fine when it got released, it just aged
>>340948562
Much the same, Mafia 2 was a flawed game with a lot of good ideas. Also, playing the section of the game where it's Winter is maximum comfy.
>ywn play uncut Mafia II like the devs intended
>>340948906
Nothing like GTA. It's essentially a linear story-driven series set in a sandbox for atmospheric purposes.
I played 3 missions of Mafia 2
I've never been so bored with a game in my life. watch a cutscene, shoot this guy, watch another, drive here, drive there, shoot this guy, drive here, cutscene.
You think I was gonna play a whole fucking game of that? I ran around and shot cops for an hour or so and then uninstalled
>>340949621
The only flaw I found with it is that i felt the ending would've worked better if Sam and Paulie's roles were switched. Idk why, but I feel it would've had more fan impact that way
>>340949992
>watch a cutscene, shoot this guy, watch another, drive here, drive there, shoot this guy, drive here, cutscene
hmm? You played GTA4?
>>340949962
>>ywn play uncut Mafia II like the devs intended
Is there a site showing all the stuff that didn't make the final game?
>>340950115
Didn't finish that one either
>>340949706
The winter section was great
>>340949992
But it's so much more than that! The atmosphere, the period, the story, music, characters, they all exceed all sorts of standards
>>340949706
>>340950668
>Winter is maximum comfy.
I tried to make that part last as long as possible.
>>340950898
Sometimes I'd just drive around aimlessly with the radio on, it was so atmospheric
>>340948562
Huh. I'm playing through 2 right now again for the first time in a few years. It's coming over fresh and I'm enjoying it enough. What's all this about cut content?
>>340951091
Just look it up, the game's still great, but there was a ton of shit cut from it.
I enjoyed mafia 2
it had its memorable set pieces and characters.>that one mission with the red convertible and the assassinationthey purposely made it a long as drive, slowly throwing in ques of what was going to happen. By the time you showed up to the street, everyone that played mafia 1 already figured out what was happeninghope they do the same thing in mafia 3 at the very least, but probably not.
>>340951826
That would be so great. Especially if it's when we find out what happened to Joe.
>>340951091
>What's all this about cut content?
the game as we know had about 15 chapters.
the real game was going to have over 150 missions.
>>340952430
It would great if they released a remastered version with at least some of said cut content. Id buy that
>>340950253

Read 'em and weep.
old mafia games suck like adam sessler siad since they have no cultural diversity and dont show how important the role of african americans were.
>>340948562
I liked M2. Mostly since it looked really fucking good, but it also had some memorable moments and a really good bromance.
Never played the first one since I was 8 at its release and never got too it at a later time.
>That entire shift in the game when it goes from winter to spring
I cant think of many games that do that much of a shift
>>340954157
You can find it free online really easily, trust me, it's worth the search
>The fbi agent getting hacked to death with meat cleavers
>>340954473
His fuckin screams were the thing of nightmares
>>340954426
Maybe at a later time.
Got Gothic 2 and Fallout 2 on my "old games" backlog for the year.
>>340955784
I still have to get around to the earlier fallouts, but there are so many other games I wanna play right now that that's gonna be s challenge
>>340948906
Honestly, it is more like a mix of GTA and Yakuza.
>>340954586
>bait in 1080p
>it isn't 1080p
>>340953323
This is depressing.
Mafia 2 with Godfather 2 gameplay would be somewhat better
>>340956401
The first one was so short and surprisingly easy so it's not much of an investment. Compared to games like Baldur's Gate 2 it's actually casual as fuck.
>>340957883
I'll have to give it a try
>>340957750
That's what Mafia 3 seems like desu
>>340958328
Do it. You won't regret it.
>>340958584
Don't know about that, don't care too much about Mafia 3 after Joe's ded
>>340959310
I'm so pumped. I can't wait to see what they do with Vito without his other half.
