That "hacker protection" just makes sure that you only get the 50k heroism reward once, rather than every time you forcefully trigger the disarmament cutscene.

MGS2 = Overall poor translation and lack of experience understanding narrative/recurring messages (I'm not even talking interpretation, many, many lines are just basic translation errors 1st year students don't even make, and if the point of a translation is to get the message across this fails. I would red-line most of this script). Very clearly done by someone in their 20s who either got pissed off and didn't give a shit anymore or just likes the sound of their own voice. Wish I had time to write a literal for it, MGS2 is pretty lulz awesome when the words match the visuals etc. luckily all the super corny lines are legit to good translations though some are added which I think should be kept for the lols (I KILLED MAH SOUL etc). But rly it is no wonder people are confused by this game, translation is not good and thus the message and meaning is super muddled. It's obvious after this game Kojima hired a proper translation team. Like, she can bitch all she wants but let's actually look at what this "pittance" got them. It is a near-diabolical translation. She got BASIC Japanese wrong. She flat out made shit up (which is where the "not enough room on the screen shit comes from, her flowery dumb way of writing is not in Kojima's style at all).
