It looked that way from what little I saw. I watched a playthrough of it to up until Cassius left after saving Estelle, Joshua, and those kids in that tower at the start of the game, and watched the same amount of the Evo version, and the localization seems pretty damn solid. A lot of shitty localizations almost scared me away from localizations period, but every now and then you still see some really good ones.

Story ranges from mediocre to decent, the character are massive cliches, the pacing is terrible (I can't believe how many "go look around the whole area and then return back to the guy that give you the quest to unlock a scene that finally allows you to finish it" parts there are in this shit) and doesn't really get all that exciting until the later chapters and the combat is very dull, repetitive and boring.
A normal JRPG does the shit this one does in half the time.

The Trails games are excellent. The writing is great, the characters are fun, the dialogue is both hilarious and intriguing depending on what part of the game you're in, and the story is solid. It has its fair share of haters because it is a text-heavy game, but if you don't have a shit attention span then it's definitely worth playing.

I've never been afraid of old games, even playing games from before I was born has never bothered me, I enjoy plenty of games from the 80s. So, I didn't have any trouble enjoying Persona 1. XSEED will do the Vita script first, then eX+'s added chapters, and they're likelier than anyone to release both versions. The reason I like Trails in the Sky so much is that it writes a lot of detail into otherwise conventional characters, and that goes for NPCs and Liberl/Zemuria as a whole. Great visual style/music and concepts help too. FC and SC both are impressive in many small ways, adding up to a sense of fullness. I wouldn't be surprised if there's something better for me out there, though, so I'm not too attached to this series. Falcom's Gagharv trilogy on Win9x is said to have more subtlety and better pacing.
Estelle's game is fine and all, but I hope you all didn't forget to pre-order Alisa's new game that's going to be out this September!

Then, when I beat it, I played through all of SC.
What a couple of amazing games, although SC went a bit too close to the typical JRPG near the end.

Honestly, this was probably one of the better localization choices that was made, along with Renne's title becoming "Angel of Slaughter". Direwolf sounds a lot more threatening than "Lanky Wolf", and "Angel of Slaughter" has a more visceral feel to the title that the fan translated titles couldn't capture. Renne's wielding a fucking scythe, not explosives.

Most of my playthrough has been Estelle on EarthWall/ClockupEX as well, but this means she can also excel as a physical attacker (since she got some great aoe crafts and she doesn't seem to have the odd AT delay that Agate has. She usually gets a new weapon mid-chapter as well).
Hurricane also has some of the most hits in the game, so with Sepith vein or whatever that orbal art was named equipped she becomes great at farming extra sepith on gem turns.
And of course, the ability to get exactly what you need at any point of the game regardless of your party setup (I didn't play favorites with my party) is pretty damn valuable.

The ability to OHKO something has very low priority compared to versatility and consistency. Oliver is the better caster for sure, but he has crappy crafts, survivability and mobility. High tier for sure, but he got his weaknesses that will fuck you in the ass once in a while (for instance, he's shit at S-craft bursting in dps races and he's not very good at getting in position or using items on allies).
Estelle can be figured to always be useful regardless of how the rest of your party looks. Her only real weakness is that her EP is slightly low.

Second of all your logic is fucking retarded. This is a turn based rpg, how good you are at the game is pretty much determined by your ability to make a good party setup that can deal with any situation. Knowing who is best for what is by definition, you knowing the ins and out of said game and in essence, being good at it.
If you plowed through easy mode with Estelle that doesn't mean shes good or that you're good at the game because if you tried to do the same thing in a higher difficulty you'd get wrecked, since that requires proper planning and proper party setup. Lots of people say Kevin is god tier for example, but thats only because hes the most useful support character in Nightmare mode, in normal mode he'd probably be more of a liability than useful because of his low damage output.

The worst meme to come out of an rpg. Versitile characters are basically always shit tier unless they have a gimmick they can only do. Estelles usefulness comes out of her utility and buffs not her ability to do damage, and alot of these utility and buffs are best left to other characters.

Honestly gameplay-wise, Sen2 only seems shorter because of faster way to do things that weren't possible in Sen1 (more map travel, more animation skipping, more freedom etc) and the fact that there are less consecutive voiced lines which means less time consumed hearing the characters speak.
There's a lot less of being forced to walk all the way from point A to point B to trigger an event when you could just fast travel orride your bike/horse.
There's also the fact that you should already be familliar with the mechanics while playing the sequel

Her crafts aren't bad but her stats don't really do them any justice.
Mueller, Joshua, Agate and Zane will all do better than her on that front.
I mean I'm not saying shes useless in Nightmare mode but when it comes to the hardest difficulty, some things are way easier with certain characters, I mean just about everyone goes for max guard s-craft to dodge boss s-crafts and instant heal crafts are a fucking godsend.

Trails in Nightmare isn't that impossibly hard that you need to run 100% optimized strategies always (only against Mueller and Kurt and arguably the worms, though the aren't that bad once you realize their mechanics).
Instead I rate characters according to their overall usefulness regardless of what you are doing and what section of the game you are in. If you are running Estelle-Zane-Agate-Tita, it's Estelle that is going to have to deliver, and she does. She always delivers.

You don't actually lose out that bad in dps with Estelle. Her pure strenght stat is slightly lower than the others, but she always has access to long distance and aoe crafts and she often gets a new weapon mid-chapter (or early chapter if you just rush the chest).
She also doesn't have the retarded turn delay after using her crafts that Agate has (protip: Agate should be buffing, raging or S-crafting. Nothing else)

Agates damage and usefulness falls apart in endgame so I agree there, but I think that on a turn by turn basis, if you aren't abusing wild rage, he will outdo her in damage either way. That being said, I think her craft effects are way better which is what I think shes useful for (not just doing damage)

Anyway, equip gladiator belt on Kevin for FREE BARRIERS. Equip proper status effect immunities on everyone else. Focus on picking off her goons but try to include Luciola in all your aoe:s. Decide which goon you want to go for first. Have someone on dedicated earth wall duty (probably Kevin).

Please don't buy this game, it's generic, boring, and extremely repetitive. Enjoy going from generic medieval town 1 to generic medieval town 2 while slaughtering flora and fauna in tedious and slow turn based battles, as a story of two kids doing errands and nothing else unfolds in all it's overworded glory.
I really like how it's not just the MC getting romance in Sky. Agate and Olivier both got love interests too. Too bad Cold Steel went the Persona 4 route and have MC hog all the girls...and the guy too.

In the early game of SC when he gets his second version of wild rage, everyone sees him as hot shit because he can OHKO trash in one turn by spamming s-craft but by the end he will just be doing subpar damage with that and require having someone babysitting him every turn. I prefer Mueller over him desu but Zane is definetey best physical attacker and not just because of tgk but because of distend.

Mueller takes too long to join for me to consider him a factor honestly. As for Zane, distend is nice but I didn't like how he had zero aoe clearing ability for the better part of the game. I often actually preferred Agate because this since I could at least spam S-craft to steal crit turns from monsters. The Agate+Schera combo is also very useful.
