Granted, I don't really go after fat targets, but more ofter the smaller targets like Tracer and Genji.
The only way you have a chance of killing her is if you see her first and stun her/ damage her a bunch before she turns around. If you both enter a room at the same time, unless you're Mccree with Fan the Hammer or Roadhog and get a decent hook+blast, she will get her feeze gun on you and actually slow down your mouse movements as she walks to your side where you're unable to aim, then instantly headshot you to kill you.
There should not be a class in this game that can go toe to toe with literally every other class, block off Payloads for five to six seconds, freeze herself in an INVULNERABLE FUCKING ICE BLOCK that HEALS HER, and STILL have one of the best Ults/primary weapons in the game. It is straight bullshit.

I play a lot of Mei, McCree is actually easy to beat as Mei. A lot of McCrees have an impulse to throw a flashbang as soon as they see you, before they process that it's Mei they're dealing with. So, you can just ice block immediately to remove his best defense. At that point you just have to dodge the double fan the hammer and its a free kill

The problem is several factors are introduced with tank heroes. Anything with 250HP and below, is a simple freeze and headshot kill, then you can retreat, ice-wall off and heal. With anything with 300-500HP, you need to get two headshots off to get close to a kill, which is often difficult to do. It's difficult to chain two freezes in quick succession. Often other enemies will intervene after the first freeze, since the process takes time. Many defence characters have escapes, heals or barriers.
It's just easier to target defence classes when they're low HP or when you have your team around you to assist with DPS, otherwise it's simply easier to seek out people who are easier to kill.

Looking at a wiki for the game, Soldier 76's rifle does 17 damage per shot at 10 shots per second and has a 25 round mag, Widowmaker's rifle does 13 damage per shot at 10 shots per second with a 30 round mag.
The wiki also states that Widowmaker's rifle does not suffer from damage falloff.

But also, McCree is pure DPS, he's got nothing else going for him, which is why you see him make up the offense part of a team because he's got the highest close up DPS of any character, and that's what they need. They don't need a well rounded character with defense and self healing shit like Reaper, S76, they don't need mobility like with Genji or Pharah, they just need pure DPS, and that's McCree. They can get away with it because they'll actually work as a team, so any of the weaknesses McCree has disappear.
McCree's slow, squishy with no defense, and has issues at anything past 15m.
So, when you've got Lucio giving him speed, Mercy giving him healing and more power, Reinhardt giving him all the defense he could ever want, and Widowmaker taking care of any issues beyond what he can flashbang, he becomes great.
And they in turn get to shred anything inside of 10m, which Lucio, Reinhardt, Mercy and Widowmaker just can't put out that raw close up DPS like McCree can.
McCree isn't broken, it's that combination that is.
If they shit on McCree, it'll literally just be looking at who's got the biggest number for DPS under 10-15m, and all the top players will start picking Reaper and thus it'll be Reaper next on the chopping block, and the downward spiral will continue until no one can do anything.
This has happened to a few games already and it completely killed off any interest in PVP since no one could do anything to anyone else and it became a bore.

You rarely ult as McCree to get kills. You ult when you don't want the enemy to push through a certain point. Mei has to put herself in danger to do it. Reaper has a niche, but its really small. Hes a tank buster, like McCree, but can take down multiple tanks relatively quickly and easily.
That said, his kit is nowhere near as good as McCree's.

He's kind of right. Widowmaker can't shoot through ice walls, so you cut one hero out of the fight while that's up. Junkrat & Roadhog ults are also easy to block with Ice Wall.
