Actually I agree with you on both points. Bringing Sparda into the mix will not live up to any hype, it's built too much. ANYTHING they do will be a disappointment and the MG titles should have remained a Solid Snake series, Big Boss had a far better history before Kojima needed his emotional fix.

Why not just a game based out of the shop that gives you tons of randomized missions in procedurally generated maps before unlocking a set one to move the story on?

If we ever get another DMC, I honestly want it to be just about Dante, and make sure that he was REALLY fleshed out as a character, with at least as many weapons and styles as in 3 and bringing back things from the older games, such as making Air Raid more important like in 1 and having him be more acrobatic like in 2. Nero can be playable in the Special Edition.
Story could just be something simple like 2 was as well: some asshole mage tries to bring an unspeakable evil into the world and Dante has to stop him. Maybe expand the universe a bit; we could fight some horror that was sealed before the fight between Sparda and Mundus even happened. Maybe someone could be trying to create a new demon using the Sparda's family blood or something like that. I think theres a lot of different things that could be done with this franchise.
