At least from my perspective, and considering what we know so far from the game, it looks like an ok 3DS game, but a shitty Vita or PC game. That's it. Honestly, look at it. The animations suck, the models are below average on quality.
Besides, the value of a product is completely subjective to the consumer. All 3 versions have pros and cons. It just happens that out of all of them the 3DS version has the least negative points out of all of them for me.Also, I only have a 3DS and PC.

Oi, I mentioned the 3DS piracy shit to them, and they said that they're aware of the problem. They anticipated the Vita Trophy leak too, which is why most of the trophies were sorta vague. Not saying it's IMPOSSIBLE that it could leak, but I don't think they'd knowingly just hand it over on a silver platter. I played 999 and VLR at release too and while I remember the gist of everything, the finer details are a blur. They're very complex, multifaceted stories. Regardless, ZTD will not rely heavily on its prequels to begin with, it's more of just a bonus for people who have played them. Uchikoshi said this himself, and VLR was the same

If it reveals it's a shitty product, reviews and such would have revealed that anyway. And that's not piracy hindering sales, it's the quality of the product. If someone was going to pirate it, they were going to pirate it regardless of whether it releases 2 weeks early or 2 weeks late. If someone was going to buy it, they were going to buy it regardless of pirate versions being available. Every shred of credible data in the industry suggests piracy actually increases sales by increasing word of mouth, the most powerful advertising tool there is. If you mean whether VLR gets better, I'd say it does. I'd say early game, VLR suffers because the huge timeline has a lot of consistent twists in endgame, but most of the early game is seeing the same plot setup in each route, kinda like how you'd have to see the Snake scene in EVERY playthrough of 999. Some routes are more boring than others too because they'll exist just in order to learn a code which you use for a more interesting route. That said, there are some good routes that you can play right at the start of the game, so maybe switch to another route and see if you become more invested in that one? It's got a slow start, but VLR explodes at the end, keep with it!

I'd agree that piracy can help build hype for action games and other genres, but this is a very story-reliant series. I also doubt that anyone is suddenly going to be swayed into buying into the third game of a VN/Adventure Game/Escape Room series because of early spoilers. I'd agree that core fans would probably buy it regardless, but the game leaking early would mean that a lot of fans would get spoiled. I also stand by my point that some Twitchfag would just stream it, and then some of those viewers wouldn't end up buying the game. PC players are cancer too, and I know a decent amount of people that pirate games, play 'em for hours, and never actually drop a cent on the series. ZTD leaking would be bad.

This is going to happen anyway, and the story-heavy characteristic of the game will definitely hurt sales because it's nearly just as effective to watch a let's play. But this has nothing to do with piracy, and people who already decided to experience the game this way are not at all relevant to whether or not they do it early or later.

I don't remember that puzzle... You can skip things you've done before, and there's a flowchart that lets you basically insta-warp to any portion of the game that you've done before, so it's a lot more convenient than 999 in that aspect. As for skipping, there is a fast forward option, but I forget if seeing the same scene in a different route counts as "fresh" dialogue, so I don't remember if you can skip through the Snake-esque scenes. As for going through all routes, it's a BIG game. Some of my friends spent 35 hours, 40 hours, or even 60 hours on the game. Not all of the content is mandatory, but the flowchart means that you can fill out anything at your own convenience. Make sure to play on Hard mode, as it'll unlock a special scene after you beat the game. If you already did some parts on Easy, just switch to Hard, then enter the codes into the escape rooms that you beat on Easy (You will have all the codes memorized in your File menu, so you don't need to redo them iirc). There's optional files that detail background info on some of the forces in the series that you can get by accomplishing optional hidden puzzles in each room, so there's a decent amount of content. Sorry for the ditzy response, I'm babysitting atm, so I'm kinda rushing this response, ha.

Hard Mode means the characters don't blatantly beat the answers of the puzzles over your head every time you make a mistake. Sadly, this also means having a little less characterization between your teammates. I'd say the secret ending is worth it though. You got a month, go play it! The Funyarinpa is Zero, Akane is Junpei's sister and yeah you can pretty much play them all on the 3DS.
VLR *does* have a save glitch in the PEC Room for the 3DS version, but it should be fine as long as you don't save in the room itself. Save before entering, and reload from there if the game freezes.
As for ZTD, that should be fine though I think the 3DS version is graphically inferior and may not run as well as the PC version. Since you didn't pre-order the 3DS version before last July, you wouldn't be missing out on the Watch bonus either way.
The Steam version *does* include an Artbook and Mini-soundtrack containing 12 songs, alongside some backgrounds, icons and wallpapers though.

The only way I can interpret that statement is as you saying handheld consoles would never be bought if they didn't have games unavailable elsewhere. Regardless I still think 999 and VLR are definitely better if played on a handheld. The games are suited to a system with a touchscreen (especially with VLR requiring note-taking) and the"twist" in 999is definitely less impactful if played on emulator.
