That's because he outclassed Cell to the point where the energy drain didn't matter anyways. He didn't get hurt all that much in his fight with Dabura but he was pretty hard on breath afterwards. The SSJ forms in general consume energy to keep them going. The only exception is SSJ1 due to training. SSJ2 isn't as radical with its consumption since it's only a 2x boost over SSJ1 but it still has a drain.

I was looking up some scenes of super and while I am happy that dragonball is back, it's not what I expected it to be like. It's more like the first dragonball, being goofy and silly all the time with almost no real danger. The art style changed, looks like everyone lost 40 lbs of muscle.
I had to look back at the old animations to see how different it is and it now doesn't even use different perspectives, these are not the same people that did the previous work. A scene with good animation is something like this

Story is solid, animation is shit. Its halfway between DB and DBZ in feeling which is good. Toriyama recently got onto them for the animation so they're trying to get around to fixing it, but TOEI is known to be shit.

The urge to fight them again is the only reason he let Vegeta live after Yajirobe and Gohan's falling naked ass almost killed him the first time, and it's the only reason he was going to let Frieza go... twice. Also the reason he wished for Kid Buu to be reincarnated as a better person as he saw the potential in him.

No it didn't. In the Freeza saga you always knew who the bad guy was, they just had to go through his minions to eventually get to him. In the Android/Cell saga you have the big bads 19 and 20, until they suddenly aren't and you get 17 and 18 instead, until Cell is pulled out of Toriyama's ass. The whole thing is really slapdash, and while Toriyama is usually good about putting things together by the seat of his pants, the whole saga is an example of that mentality failing.

- Trunks' introduction feels like bad fanfiction
- Trunks' mere existence feels forced
- Trunks accomplishes almost fuck all in the altered timeline after his introduction
- RoSaT is a blatant asspull
- We don't get to see any of Vegeta and Trunks' training in the RoSaT
- The Super Saiyan legend is shat on
- Relies too much on character stupidity to advance the plot
- Vegeta is at his absolute worst here
- All of the villains are incredibly boring
- Piccolo fusing with Kami amounts to nothing
- In fact, a lot of moments here that could be good amount to nothing, like Tenshinhan holding back Cell
- Feels entirely disconnected from the rest of the Dragon Ball story despite links to the Red Ribbon Army
- Time travel introduces even more plot holes in an already shoddily written series
- Little to no humor; takes itself way too seriously
- Vegeta and Trunks vs Perfect Cell is possibly the most boring part in any Dragon Ball arc ever
- Fights are forgettable
- Cell surviving Goku's IT Kamehameha is complete bullshit
- Gohan's spotlight is incredibly forced
- Gohan's behavior against Cell before going SSJ2 needed to be better explained so we wouldn't have all of these OoC claims
- Gohan going Super Saiyan 2 lacks impact because #16 had no prior relationship with Gohan, or even the audience really
- Gohan vs Cell is a terrible fight, a sorry excuse for a finale, and feels extremely anticlimactic. Why Toriyama didn't have Gohan actually fight against Cell after he got the Zenkai is beyond me
- Oh, and Zenkais reared their ugly head here. At least it was only once
- Zenkais apparently not being a thing for the Saiyans anymore is never explained
- Trunks never even trying to bond with Present Gohan is a painfully missed opportunity
- Trunks and Vegeta's relationship isn't touched on enough
- Goku doesn't get anything accomplished other than training Gohan

- Gohan having to get help from Goku and Vegeta during the Kamehameha duel doesn't present a strong case for him being the new hero
