The best way of going around it would be reading the novels because of the plot and then watching the movies if you want to put voices to the characters or see some certain things animated.
Let me be clear, i'm not saying the movies are bad, the visuals and OST are amazing, the problem they have is that they cut the plot and rewrite things because you obviously can't fit an entire novel in 1 hour which is what most movies last(except 5 and 7, but even those butchered the plot here and there).
