I liked the beginning of those D'Arby fights but I was sort of disappointed at the conclusions. I knew immediately that Jotaro was bluffing for the first one since it was so obvious that it ruined the reveal. The part with Vanilla Ice was neat too I liked the way the anime did the scene where Polorafnerff gets almost blown up by his rape ball I felt it was really well done. The main issue I have with stands is that it feels like anything goes. With hamon, you got some clearly defined rules and characters had to play within them constantly. Characters like Joseph might toe the line but he had to be clever and play within the limitations.
But with stands, fucking anything can happen. Like the one time Star Platinum defeats Justice by SUCKING IN REALLY HARD. It just comes out of nowhere and feels like a total asspull.

The only thing that really stands out about Part 2 is Joseph. The supporting cast is pretty bad, and what good supporting characters there are, like Stroheim, never get their time to shine because BT is all Joseph all the time. Joseph isn't as clever with Hamon as people make him out to be, half the time he just reveals that he had actually just hidden rope under the arena and then he instantly wins, although there are good moments like the grenade trick and the ball hitting Wham. Jolyne is more clever with Stone Free than Joseph ever was with Hamon. Cars is shit and the fight against him is just asspull after asspull, Hamon is also shit and keeps getting new abilities associated with it for no reason.
BT is still good but there are far better parts and I suggest that you read the manga.

Stands are a unique way to fight whereas Hamon is just kung-fu magic. Stands also allow for Araki to make chaoters about whatever ideas he wants without contradicting his own rules, he still fucks up with this sometimes, like with how Hierpohant Green had whatever power was needed for the plot, but that's the exception to the rule for the most part and it's better than shit like Hamon suddenly letting Caesar use mind-control.

Most adaptations ever made are typically full of compromises or they just end up fucking things up somehow. Either because they have to compromise due to a deadline, they don't have the kind of timeframe to retell the story in the format they are granted, the director/producer is a huge tit that wants to use the adaptation as a vehicle to tell the story he really wants to tell or they just doesn't care.
So I think we lucked out. It's also one of the most well paced animes I have seen in a while. It seldoms drags on or feel padded out. Not a single episode feels like a waste of time.
But yeah, you can't fight a community like 4chan becoming tainted with assholes. Fighting assholes by being assholes just makes it worse. People who actually contribute with quality posts will get sick of it all and leave. It has some great panels in color, like pic related, but on the whole it just looks inferior to the B&W scans, panels like Gyro's reveal, Valentine's back and all the racers standing alongside each other stand out as really ugly with color, although the close up on Gyro's face right after he's revealed is pretty good in color.

The dreamcast/ps1 game had an HD version on PSN and XBLA for awhile but I think they took it off about a year ago. Easily emulated though, unless you still own a dreamcast/ps1 and wanna hunt down a copy.

I think the issues is that there's the media's perception of him, and then there's what Araki is actually going to do with the character. He had to dial back Joseph for Jotaro to shine in Part 3, and he had to dial back Jotaro for parts 4 and 6.
Can you imagine what Part 3 would have been like with Younger Joseph with a Stand? He would have eaten up all of the screentime.
The thing is that Part 3 is always going to be the face of the series, and people know Jotaro as the main character, so he's the cool unstoppable badass. To anyone that's actually sat down through the whole thing would know that Jotaro is more of the pinch hitter, and Polnareff is more like the main character.

Gold Experience Requiem is the most busted stand in the series. Any attack directed towards its user is instantly negated and reset to "zero" in the sense that it never happened.
