The best results I got for hit and run are boosting upwards and then falling on someone. The fall helps eat up a few seconds so the boosters can recharge. Or just boost onto a building and jump down.

Defense Matrix is a cone in front of D.Va. Any enemy projectile within that cone is intercepted. That's why she can stand to the side of someone and still intercept their shots. Focus on staying with the team and going between people, give damage boosts whenever possible, and don't be afraid to whip out your pistol, sometimes finishing the enemy off or shooing a sniper away will do more good than just healing

Even if you want to cherrypick and count only specific ults, defense matrix still doesn't counter the majority of DPS ults effectively. Defense matrix is highly situational when completely negating most of those ults, at best you're going to be negating only part of the ult. No Tracer or Hanzo or Reaper with half a brain is going to throw out their ultimate when D.Va is literally in their face with defense matrix thrown up. With the exception of Pharah's rockets almost every attack defense matrix blocks can be deflected with Genji, who is far less situational and more reliant in 90% of team comps.

It's actually good, very accurate and pretty decent DPS
A lot of people severely underestimate her when they try to go in close and expect an easy kill
D. Va is one of my favorite characters to play. She can rack up eliminations like crazy, if only because she never dies on defense, and can ping damage a lot of people, often leaving others to finish them off. Plus, her ult can win games in the right situation.

Her pistol actually has pretty high DPS but her projectiles are pretty slow which makes it challenging to use effectively.
But yeah if you get caught out 1v1 don't just stand there and die, you can win against many heroes if you land your shots.
