To be honest, I think they should have made a StarCraft movie if they really wanted to make a movie. It could be this 80s movie with rubber and animatronic monsters, cheesy one liners, Evil Dead like gore. Just read Liberty's crusade and you'll know what I'm talking about. Like the launch trailer of Wings of Liberty: make a movie which is so bad that it's good.

You have to be as proactive as you can. Warcraft has always had a far higher percentage of women players than a lot of other games. It has always been a very welcoming environment for women. I know that the ladies and men who work at Blizzard have always tried to make sure that everyone feels welcome. You can dress however you want in the game world. You don’t have to be in slutty costumes. You can dress like the character that you see in your head.
When we were writing the film, it was also really important to me that we maintain the balance that they got so right in that game. Multiple key characters in our film are women and are not love interests. They stand up and work in the film in their own right.
How do you balance that with appealing to these hardcore fans?
It’s not a problem, because Warcraft by its very nature has always represented different races and genders.

What fucks me off the most is they chose the wrong damn story, they tried to turn Warcraft 1's plot into a movie, it was doomed from the start, they already had a perfect story to adapt into a movie but it was ignored, they should've adapted the collapse of the Well of Eternity.
It's a dual protagonist story with Malfurion and Illidan, Illidan has already proved to be extremely successful and marketable as well, it has a prominent female character with Tyrande, who also serves to create a love triangle, it has a great battle scene between the burning legion and the druids, it has a great plot twist where its revealed that Ashara is the one that created a deal with the Demons, it has a resolution, with the destruction of the Well of Eternity, creation of 2 major continents and the maelstorm.
There are so many great scenes, Trolls discovering the Moonwell and evolving rapidly into Elves, Cenarion teching Druidism to the trio, Illidans secret lust for arcane magic, Ashara and her high council getting dragged below the sea, the banishment of what eventually become the High Elves, the betrayal of Illiden, stealing 7 vials worth of water from the well and using 2 on them to create a new well atop Mt Hyjal, the imprisonment of Illidan and the creation of the world tree.
But instead they just try to wrangle the plot of Warcraft fucking ONE into a feature length movie, it was doomed to fail.
All I want is a Warcraft cinematic universe where they pretend gnomes don't exist.
