Me and an artist friend of mine are making a survival rpg porn game. An all female class crash on an island on their way to wherever for a field trip. Island is filled with monsters during the day and demons during the night. Heavy focus on crafting and all deaths a permanent, if a party member dies it triggers an erotic snuff scene of that character and you lose them forever. Some monsters though will just kidnap the girls and use them as breeding stock, increasing the encounter rate. There will be a bunch of fetishes, but in the end it'll mostly focus on snuff. Also we got some neat ideas to play off tropes to twist em around and end in snuff.

The dungeon crawling is pretty similar, but I thought the way it expanded on Sengoku's limited number of attacks system + large cast forcing you to swap out worked really well, especially considering it's a character fanservice game. But the thing is that that system was inferior to VI's design, only a 1/3rd of the cast is actually useful and some classes are straight out inferior to others. With VI's system almost every single character (baring 3) were viable for use for the entire game

The most important thing when it comes to being good at game design is understanding the details in what makes the genre tick. This understanding can come from playing lots of games with a director's eye. There's no reason to believe that there aren't any Japanese in the industry who couldn't put out a solid RTS.
Where they might fuck up is in experimenting with adding some more Japanese-style quirks to the gameplay, which would be treading new ground. Still, if they could get it ironed out, you might have an interesting new take on the genre.

Yeah, after reading about the difficulty I'm more in it for the characters. Haven't looked through any CG sets beforehand, so when I scroll over the world map it makes me curious to see what girls wait in each region.

Rance 6's biggest strength is character interaction. Dungeon crawling was pretty good too. Battles are a love it or hate it kind of thing as expected in an RPG(I thought they were fun for the most part). The problem with it is that if you want to complete the game 100% you will have to grind a LOT, and that might diminish your enjoyment of the game

Really? Thats not how i remember it. Depending on the enemy you had to choose the corresponding unit with the elemental defence. Spirits were best vs physical and so on. It was definitely not the same for example if you thought about sending heavy knights vs magic swordsmen you wouldn't have a fun time.
I also remember doing stuff like breaking off bridges to kill all the units at once if the enemy was tough. Or just breaking them off, killing stuff with ranged units across and then repairing them again.
Taking on 3-4 nations at once on hard without transferring levels was the most fun. Having a balanced front wasn't that easy not to mention the economy since you needed shit tons of units so you actually had to think about what to build. I just rushed with magic research to get the monsters out early on since they were that helpful.
The problem with this game though was definitely balance. I mean you could play the game however the hell you wanted but it was just so easy to break it.
