That level was genuinely spooky. Actually, almost everything about DK64 was spooky, with those dark shadows, those realistic textures, that music and sound design, etc. I miss that goddamn N64 era atmosphere.
I don't get why they can't seem to replicate it. Games today all look like pic related. Light-gray shadows, shitty cartoony rocks, no saturation at all, etc. How do devs expect me to get immersed in that shit?
