The power armors in this franchise universe do not protect its wearers from attacks.
No armor? You die.
Wearing armor? You die.
One proof (out of many) is the recent game trailer.
Power armors are useless. Discuss.

>>338209742
This guy sees the big picture.
3+ save on the tabletop, though that is average by the game's standard.
8 DR in the RPG, which is very much above average.
So no, you're just ignorant.
>>338209742
>what is a 3 up save
> what is being a walking tank
>>338209742
Maybe if you ver bombarded with heavy artillary, plasma explosions or anti-armor rounds you can die but power armor is suppose to make you a walking tank. I fucking hate lifht armor autists because no other Sci-fi shitfest uses power armor aside fallout and Warhammer. Just the typical, clean, cookiecutter nanosuit, light armor bullshit now a days.

How does one get into the table top? How hard are these things to assemble and paint?
>>338210280
they're just that damn good
>>338210289
Not hard, but expensive. Also, time consuming (read: tedious)
But hey, there's worse hobbies to havelike hardcore drugs
>>338210289
painting can be tricky but assembly is breeze, just need super glue
find an army that you like thematically and run wild
>>338210289
Fairly easy, with a steady hand and patience. Marines are easy to build and paint since they're made up of mostly large, flat surfaces. Price is the real hurdle
What is this 3+ meme? What does it even mean?
>>338210824

>>338210824
3+ save on the die man
>>338210456

Yeah, I know.
I once went inside my local Games Workshop and asked the salesperson there why the Stormtrooper squad cost $35 while the Space Marine Veteran squad cost $50 despite having the same number of models and being the same type of box.
>>338210496
>>338210656
>super glue
What? Not even snap-fit?
>>338210824
Their armor save in the tabletop.
>>338210824
Its the dice roll on a single dice required to prevent them dying when they are hurt in the tabletop. For example an Ork hits a Space marine with its choppa/axe, rolls to hit and then to see if it wounds. The Space marine then gets to roll a dice to see if his armour saves on and on a 3+ he is fine.

>>338211754

Deffinetly
Power armor is suppose to protect you from all infantry. Anything with more firepower than a Rhino and you're fucked.
>>338211039
He gave a long answer that I did not understand but the way I understood it is that the Stormtrooper box are grunts and the Space Marine Veterans are like one-off boss units so I got the impression that they price models based on powerlevels than actual content.
>>338209396
Yeah, and it's fucking useless when I play against anyone. There is an overabundance of armor piercing weaponry, it's fucking insane. Everyone has some gay pieplate that instagibs everything I have. Shit is so boring when you include tanks and jets, it's why I sold my GK army.
>>338210936
No, all of it needs to be glued. And it's very easy to do. Painting is more difficult and time-consuming, but it can be fun. And yes, it is prohibitively expensive. It's basically the reason why I and my friends don't really play it anymore. Just too expensive to have a well-rounded army.
>>338211923

Well of course because it's so stupidly cheap to mass produce it. Equipping all guardsmen regiments with the same munitions of the adeptus would be impossible and a waste of equipment because a 10000+ dead guardsman is considered a victory.
>>338211923
This is what happens when MEQs are the baseline.

>>338212078

Yes that's how Space Marines are made. You cut them open, stuff gene-seed organs, pump em' full of drugs and stitch it back up. No pg shit like in halo.

Not really considering most of the guardsmen only recieve 3 day's worth of training before being shipped off. And besides one guardsman is replacable in five seconds.

Still doesn't make much of a difference if they die in droves. I never understand why any general would think having guarsman fight as infantry against anything is a good idea. Just deploy baneblades and you win any war.
Why don't the more reasonable races all team up against the Chaos, Orks, nids and Necron?
Those are clearly the bigger threats than Tau or Eldar.

Actually guardsmen are skimmed from the best of the PDF, who are trained extensively considering 99% of the time they don't see active duty and have nothing better to do. Of course they still end up coming into the IG green because the PDF is a shitshow, mostly because the PDF is constantly getting the best skimmed off which leaves only the mediocre and worthless, but still. New IG recruits don't just get "3 days of training", they have to have proven themselves to some degree first.

The tabletop paints a poor picture since it only depicts the most exciting battles between the big boys, which aren't that common. The vast majority of fighting in the imperium is against cultists or rebelling governors or small greenskin infestations or insignificant minor xenos, which the IG is perfectly suited for.

>>338214252
Why aren't there Orks who worship the Emperor and side with the Imperium?

*webways behind you*
Since the time of The Fall, our race has been haunted by what we, in our reckless pursuit of hedonistic indulgence, gave birth to. Though our dreams once overturned worlds and quenched suns, we are now but fitful shadows clinging to the edge of existence. All the stars in the sky cannot blot out the hateful glare of the Red Moon's Eye. The birthing place of The Great Enemy pulses with all the malice of a daemon that is dreaming, casting its shadow over all we have ever done and all we ever shall. Every twisted strand of Fate and casting of the Runes leads me to this time, to this place, and it is clear that the final battle awaits me at the ancient Crone Worlds. A conflict the likes of which has not been seen since the Mon-keigh warred amongst themselves, and their corpse of a seer fell to his traitorous son, is coming and all my steps lead towards it, no matter that I walk other paths. I see the stars stained red with the blood of the Mon-Keigh and, though their wars do not concern me and I would gladly let them destroy one another, I know that to avoid this fight is to condemn my race to inevitable doom. And though all I see is darkness, I know that I will not flinch from my destiny.

And most other worlds are just agri-worlds with regular old jim and bob farmers who work hard but not to the death. And most of their crop goes to supporting a hive world usually.
>>338215747
>for imperial nobility
Yes, while the rest of humanity rapes itself violently in Hive Worlds, Prison Worlds, and other worlds that no one in the right mind should have colonized ever.
Keep in mind that the ONLY reason the status quo never changes in 40k is because every faction is pants on head retarded.
The IG never use tactics beyond human wave attacks, and would be extremely effective if they fought like actual modern soldiers.
The Tau, for all their talk of Greater Good, at terrible at getting along with other races.
The Orks lack ambition to properly utilize their power.
The Necron, after they were retconned from just being space terminators/borg, literally only care about rebuilding their old empire. Especially considering their alliance with the Blood Angels shows they're not against siding with the Imperium.
Tyranids just want to eat shit.

There are feral worlds which are completely untouched by the rest of the galaxy and only know their primitive life. Their are feudal worlds which serve only to be recruiting ground but are left alone apart from that. There are shrine worlds that exist only to protect relics and promote the church. Death worlds and prison worlds are comparatively rare. There are no reasonable races.
The Imperium are a xenophobic dictatorship ruled by religious dogma who regularly use genocide.
The Eldar see other races as beneath them and the only difference between them and the Dark Eldar is that they don't get wet at the thought of all the humans they butcher.
The Tau are a collectivist dictatorship who believe anyone that's not with the Greater Good needs to be exterminated.
Additionally wiping out races like Orks would probably doom the galaxy. The Orks are probably one of the greatest defenses the galaxy has against Tyranids and vice versa - wipe out either and the other will dominate. Chaos can't really be stopped either because they hide in the Eye of Terror and have no discernible patterns of attack.

>Preform a very dangerous conscript ceremony involving something big and ugly and you having to kill it.
>Get accepted and become a recruit

A lot more brutal than getting abducted and have serums injected into you while training mediocre guardsmen level.

It's basically communism in a religious form. The Tau believe everyone in the galaxy, including xenos, has a duty to improve the lives of their fellow beings a la socialism. Those who do not share this philosophy are genocided.

By the codex its supposed to be only about 1000 space marines in a chapter at any time and 1000 chapters in the galaxy at any point but that's reliant on chapter being codex adherent and in prime condition. Almost no chapters are both those things at once.
>>338219142
Also, quite a few space marines were just young lads abducted off the brutal streets/jungles since they were obviously strong enough to try to become a marine.
>>338220001

the spartan project was a failure, and then spartan II was a semi success as 1 out of 250 children became a god of war. while the rest suffocated in space or some shit.
both series were campy, and the they realize nerds were starting serious discussions and want consistency. so they both made the jump to less malleable physics
I'm assuming you're talking about how the SM had his arm ripped like it wasn't shit in particular.

it makes more sense when you realize that SM primarily operate as strike forces and Spec Ops instead of line infantry. Sure, they're powerhouses in the tabletop, but back when Epic was still around the marines needed much more finesse to play than the guard

Their blood is also modified and improved. It carries much more oxygen and as a result can clot almost immediately if there is a serious wound. Space marines don't bleed out even if you tear their arm off. In fact even a wound that big would be closed off in a minute.

Reminder that it's a stupid /tg/ meeem and their psychic power never went beyond acting as a lubricant for their guns and vehicles. Ork technology works because it was programmed into them by an ancient advanced species that created Orks specifically to be a species of universal soldiers, the fact that Orks or Imperium (retarded bumfucks who pray to their guns) have no idea how it works doesn't change the fact.
>>338226568
There's also the fact that the more there are, the more advanced they get. If you only have a comparatively smattering of orcs, then they'd be more tribal and less of a threat than the orcs that actually do pose a threat.

yeah theres no point really. Its kind of what happened in history.
Knights progressively got thicker and thicker armor until by the late middle ages they were literally tanks on horses. Then when firearms appeared, they could punch through even the thickest plate armor. So eventually armor disappeared, because it was pointless; if the armor offers no protection you might as well take it off and have more mobility.
>>338231898
Damn, i do not like the rounded shoulders on Warlords; it makes the damn things look too much like knights rather than walking bunkers.
>>338231660
Imperators are the biggest. based on Armageddon's scale, a full sized Imperator should be 3.5 feet or 1 meter tall. (Also, if you look at the pictures of scale comparison in the Apocalypse books, an Imperator is roughly 2.5x bigger than a Warhound Titan. Measuring the Warhound's from Forgeworld, they are roughly 1.5ft tall.)
>>338232138

>The IG never use tactics beyond human wave attacks, and would be extremely effective if they fought like actual modern soldiers.
But that's not really true. The IG is incredibly diverse. True in major battles they use human waves but that's because there is no other option. There are plenty of times when the IG use modern tactics. Harkoni warhawks using airbourne warfare, tallaran using guerilla tactics, catachan jungle fighters using jungle and ambush warfare.
It's just that when there is a giant wall of orks being thrown at you there isn't much more you can do than smash it with artillery and bombs and throw men at the problem until it stops.
>>338209168
How is it useless? Space marines can take serious punishment thats why thry dont die in the trillions like guardsmen.
>>338216053
>The IG never use tactics beyond human wave attacks, and would be extremely effective if they fought like actual modern soldiers.
Wrongo buddy. The problem is that in major engagements that's about all you can do but there are plenty of different regiments focused on completely different things. Elysian drop troops are the closest you can get to stormtroopers in training and equipment without actually getting there (if they didn't job everytime), harakoni warhawks are mass airbourne infantry, Attilan Rough Riders are fucking cavalry with space horses and explosive tipped spears. The problem is that all we're ever shown are Cadians who can only know wave tactics because they are constantly fighting all of Chaos.
>>338238765

I heard they can work for some of the more boxy models, but even those tend to lack detail and are more or less just useful as game pieces rather than actual tabletop models.

It totally depends on the regiment though.
There might be some regiments where they just pick up a bunch of tribals or prisoners, imprint only the most needed Low Gothic knowledge in their brains and train them in basic army stuff on the way to the warzone, that's true. But regiments like that, and commanders like Chenkov who only throw infantry at the meat grinder are a rarity.
Other regiments recruit, train and fight "sensibly"
The important and named regiments are all highly trained. Hell, Cadians, Kriegers and arguably Catachans are basically trained from birth for instance.
