My parents usually let me do what I pleased when I was sick but when I hit my teens, my dad would always take my consoles with him to work. Dad was 17 years older than my mom and grew up a hoodrat. Never showed any interest in video games except for once. We were both sick and he brought up the idea of me playing a game in the living room so he could watch. I guess he thought it might bore him into a nap. I had just bought MGS3 and so I popped that in. He stayed up watching me play for six hours, asking me questions and giving commentary as I went through the game. He got really into with me and I kind of hoped he might get into gaming but it never happened.
Still a really cool memory that I'll always look back on. He watched almost every minute of my game play, cheering me on through the boss fights. It was borderline comical seeing him tense up every time I got spotted or tool a shot at The End after I explained how he was the Grandfather of Snipers.
