Is there a reason to buy a game if it has a female protagonist. Why would anyone care? There are also 63 pages worth of games on steam which have the same tag. Are the users a bunch of fucking cucks?

Because Steam users have this mentality that if something makes them feel funny in their pants it has to be alien to them and need to be tagged to let everyone know it will effect them, too.
Tags are pretty much just warnings. Just like games labeled with "Game Maker" or "RPG Maker".
