I got it today and it's just like any other Uncharted game but with more locations and nostalgic references thrown in. Not necessarily a bad thing but it definitely feels like it's not relying much on gunplay.
Shooting is definitely smoother than any of the other games in the series but you also get killed a bit faster.
The game looks very pretty, I'll give you that.

It has a ton of references but it's an isolated story and it fills you in quite a bit.
But still, I'd recommend playing the other three (it won't take that long anyway) because the references are a nice, nostalgic touch.
