Got caught in the open as the close-range Reaper? Just press your invulnerability button and float over to a healthkit. You get this and many other movement tools completely free, there's nothing you give up for them, like sacrificing health with a rocket-jump.
The tools Overwatch gives you to solve problems are contained in a single button rather than a complex and difficult set of movements and/or offensive measures. The entire game revolves around identifying the correct rock-paper-scissors situation to press your button, then pressing it. There is no serious skill of any kind involved. You're going through the motions of what you think a video game entails.
The miniscule difference between a week-old Overwatch player and a year-old Overwatch player is lost in the cloud of instakill ultimates, teleports and AOE abilities. This game is transcendentally shit and there is no escape from it. This is the very profitable future of FPS. Hell. Population: you.

>Overwatch may be boring and shallow as an FPS game on account of all of the 'canned skill' abilities eliminating the impact of mechanical skill, but as a strategy game it's good! Just look at how many characters there are, and how many abilities! Surely that leads to good strategy gameplay.
This argument makes sense until you remember that Overwatch is trying to pretend it's an FPS game, not a strategy game. All of the ways in which Overwatch is different from other real time strategy games (the camera, the pace, the lack of resources to fight over) are flaws.
Let's consider Overwatch's strategy merit compared to another the-player-controls-one-unit strategy game like DOTA. Each player has ~3 skills and an ultimate, so there's parity there.
The camera perspective isn't top-down, it's first person. This makes zero sense for a strategy game and inhibits the player's ability to get an overall picture of what's going on. The controls also make it impossible for the player to ever control more than one unit, like they can in DOTA.
There are no map resources to fight over - as a strategy game, the only strategic element is the win condition.
Overwatch is shit as either an FPS game or a strategy game. So it won't sell by its quality.

Man, games like TF2 and COD are already pretty casuals by themselves, Overwatch takes it up a notch, I played the game, and I enjoyed it, but it's really not a game that requires effort to play at all.

I'm not him, but I'll explain why I think the game is too simple.
I'll just ignore the obvious 'ultimates that rape everybody on screen and require no skill to use other than timing' and go a little deeper.
A nice way to do this is look at the TF2 counter parts.
Tracer = Scout: positioning doesn't matter for her, doesn't need to rely on moving intelligently to dodge attacks when she has a blink ability and a literal 'press this button to undo your fuck-up', also aiming is easy as shit with your only one weapon choice (not including ultimate).
Torj = Engineer: has only ONE building to manage which gets upgraded to max level 5 seconds. Resource management on him is virtually non-existent compared to the TF2 Engineer, all you use it for in Overwatch is the one upgrade for your one building and shitting out armour for teammates, repairing and building the sentry is free.
Pharah = Soldier: You don't need any skill in rocket jumping, you have a button that does it for you on top of being able to hover / ascend moreso with a jetpack. Your rocket has 6 rockets loaded and are much easier to hit than Soldier's. It's also your only weapon other than that displacing shot.
Junkrat = Demoman: Your explosives have an overly generous AOE and are easier to hit anyway, you can only place one remote mine every 8 seconds for jumping or damaging enemies and you have an immobilizing trap if aiming becomes too difficult.
Mercy = Medic: Has a Medigun and Kritzkrieg in one, can literally revive teammates she fails at healing with her ult and the only other thing she can do is shoot people with a pistol. The flying ability to stay glued to teammates is bretty cool though.

That is literally their primary function other than rushing objectives. They both use their mobility to beat stronger opponents which is a fuck-ton easier to do on Tracer who also has an inbuilt ctrl+Z button.

Engineer can do a lot more than just turtle, shotgun and pistol are just at good at fighting as Torj's weapon which is literally a pistol + shotgun built into one.

It's not really that elaborate, if the person you're healing is at full HP or is about to use a rape ultimate you give them damage and if they start taking considerable damage you just heal them again - there is literally no cooldown between shifting.

Actually TF2 medic has to choose between healing with "invulnerability ultimate" or healing with "damage ultimate" (as far as I know he doesn't have "small damage boost" beam) He also has the same amount of offensive capabilities as Mercy. You got the overhealing part (thats the job of other characters in OW), but don't pretend that good Mercy just sits with one guy and does nothing. She still has to have good awareness of the positioning of her teammates (even for moving very fast) and choose who to heal / boost on the fly.

It's more or less how often the server is updating it's own game information. To try to cut down on hacking issue most FPS games really take place "on the server" and the users "client" is just representation of that game.
So everything is filtered past the server.

Every X is when the server updates their position, every X can be successfully hit, the spaces between them however do not register hits regardless of where their model actually is.

Problem is that blizzard made the old version of engineer where it takes forever to build and the sentry would be annoying as fuck but die instantly.
They then did the battle engy style but they didn't go full in by making the sentry easy to deal with but dangerous to ignore.
