Get in here and post your empires
Tell a fun story about something that happened
Complain how Paradox won't fucking FIX THE PRETHORYN BUG ALREADY
>>337416003
Lurking, I'd actually like to know what kind of empires and play styles people are going for, I feel like I'm overwhelmed with the things I can do in a single play through
>>337416003
Downloading the game now, im ready to be a space fascist
>trying to integrate xenos peacefully
>they keep bitching and go on strike
Integration was a mistake.
>>337416003
Taking a break, but hopefully someone can answer me this question.
>>337417481
I think they always get - 25 for a while because of recently conquered, also build happiness buildings.
>>337417661
>- 25 for a while because of recently conquered
Fuck, even they were my vassal and got integrated via diplo? That sucks.
If I want to conquer an empire what's the best way - make them vassals wait 10 years then integrate?
Is there a way to purge their planets while on war?
I don't want any of their aliens on planets.
>>337416003
>Tfw you'll never build a proper white Human empire

>Everything is racially diverse

Pol made a mod where black skins were removed - go there and ask them for it, I didn't save the link.
>>337417654
What question?
>>337417830
Yeah iv experimented with vassals a couple times, even when they were loyal and had positive opinion of me, when the integration was done I noticed they were mad because we apparently conquered them....
>>337417481
>Hasn't learned anything from human history
Purge them
>>337417337
> peaceful expansion
> murdered by militants
> militant expansion
> boxed in by federation
Still trying to find that sweet spot
>>337417952
Damn I hit post before writing the question - so tired.
Can I make the bigger planet my capital planet? I want to have more rooms for specialized buildings.
>>337418060
You mean the amount of tiles available? If so, yes, but only if you managed to find one.
I think maximum is 5x5.

>>337418136
Wat?
So what's the answer to the question?
Can I have other colonized planets as capital?
Do the deeds of men in all ages remain the same /v/?
>>337418198
Sorry, I'm kinda busy myself.
>>337418294
Nope. But it shouldn't affect your planet specialization anyway.
>>337418341
>Someone else is using space turtles.
How'd ya build 'em?
You can only reply to this post if you've conquered a fallen empire
there are too many aliens species in this game and hardly any mystery. The should be more factions within the alien species instead of creating ridiculous alien like space parrots. This game fucking sucks.
>>337418294
>>337418414
Actually disregard that, you can move your capital but you need to research a tech for it.

SEIG MEIN KAISER
SEIG NEUE REICH
>going to war with my neighbor and his three vassals with the intention of stealing said vassals for myself
>my fleet totals to around 12k, the vassals each have fleets worth 500-100 points and their overlord owns a fleet of 7000
>things go smoothly enough, taking no losses and occupying the vassal planets
>suddenly the overlord attacks me with his fleet of 7000
>I ram 12000 points worth of space ships into him
>lose my entire space fleet within minutes
>frantically try to figure out what went wrong as they now invade my space unopposed
>mfw I realize their fleet was 100 corvettes with torps when mine was a balanced mix of all ship types built around negating armor, with defenses solely relying on shields
What followed was an intense re-structuring and re-engineering of my military machine to counter theirs. I somehow managed to maintain my warscore and hold onto my planets long enough for them to give up and concede to my demands.
Suffice it to say, the next time we went to war I was much more prepared.
>>337418198
I've been watching these fucks slowly swallow the galaxy for 50 years while I wait for the idiots blocking my fleets to die and make way for me to get destroyed as well.
>>337418989

Militarist xenophobe collectivists, with strong and venerable as traits. I went for a run-of-the-mill expansionist slaving warrior empire and it's been pretty fun after my initial game of pacifist humans.
>>337418776
Thank you very much - so basically avoid upgrading capital to galactic capital ( I researched tech wiki since you mentioned it )
Only upgrade it on planet you want to be homeworld
>>337419136
Those two empires that use point defence say hi
I'm having trouble making my first battleships. I have the tech to make level 6 space ports and I already upgraded two of them but I'm still not getting the option to build one.
>tfw my power comes from the One Power
>tfw may have expanded too soon this time but those planets were just too good to pass up
>>337418230
Science Vessels are amazing early game, using them primarily as scouts. You get tons of bonus resources and stuff from the anomalies, and having a good star chart is very valuable to the other aliens - They will pay good money for them if you wish to sell it. Just turn off the auto-evacuation shit so you can travel elsewhere if you encounter hostiles, rather than just straight back - Especially if you're Pleb Warping.
I'm making a loli species.
How do I make all my people white? Is there a mod?
>>337419626

>>337417834

>>337419675
No. I'm not playing an interstellar empire run by africans, it's a farce.
I hate the missile meta in multiplayer right now.
Either you luck out and get some kind of early point defense, missile defense or good missiles of your own or you get butt blasted by the first guy who finds you and probably got said tech. Makes it feel like it all came down to random chance with the stupid tech card system.
Meanwhile missiles get progressively shittier later in the game where you have the time, intel and tech to build counters before they crush your balls.
>>337419846
Cool, thanks, will look into that.
>Retarded neighbour makes Robots go bananas by giving them too much intelligence and free will.

>Robot Pop obviously goes Rogue.
>My attacking army somehow doesn't know how to defend without at least 1 Defensive Pop.
>Robot conquers planet, which gets marked as unclaimed.
>My attack army is bugged and stuck on the 'planet', but cannot leave it since it isn't marked as colonized anymore.
>Thanks Paradox.
>tfw 120 slave pops, made up of 7 species
>tfw hated by literally all sentient life

>>337420102
I ran into some shitty bug too.
My science vessel finished surveying a planet with no resource and then some event popped up, which added 3 minerals resource to the planet, but I couldn't do anything with it with the Construction Ship because the planet was already marked as resourceless.
>>337419136
Missiles would be the least effective weapon against my current fleet. Someone who used missiles and armour would get creamed so hard it wouldn't even be funny.
So this is my current (and first game) so far. Collectivist, Materialist, Militarist
Forget what traits
Just got out of a long war with the Dabulans to my galactic north so that's why my economy is in shambles. They had a gigantic tech lead on me but I had the fleet strength (which is wonderfully flavorful if you've read the Honor Harrington books). I also got stuck in the ass end of the galaxy.
Those Dabulan space slugs are my slaves now and their empire splintered.

>>337417832
I haven't done it yet myself, but I'd imagine full bombardment for long enough will eventually kill all life on the planet. It's 15% chance per month to kill a pop.
Has anyone tried full bombardment to wipe out enemy pops on a planet - Once they lose their last pop, does the planet become uncolonized and they lose their border on it?

Unzip it and place it in "C:\Users\<your name>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod". Make sure you select the white name list when creating your civ or you'll end up with white people named Muhammad.
>>337419136
The way I eventually defeated the other empire was a fleet of corvettes and destroyers, with each destroyer having three point defenses per ship. Since they also relied on shields, I replaced my lasers with torpedos as well. They more or less crumbled on the first engagement. Of their first torpedo salvo, maybe 10% hit the mark, whereas mine struck them like a mailed fist.
So no, I wouldn't say missiles are the be-all, end-all of weapons.
>>337420590
once the planet loses its last pop it becomes free
so import one pop before you purge
>>337420561
Uplifting primitives via observation posts or uplifting pre-scentients with gene modding

>>337420659
they have no choice but to help you in war. They can save your ass sometimes. And you can integrate them after 3600 days of being a vassal

What's the problem? Fallen Empire won't do anything to you if you don't do anything to them.
>>337420714
I was thinking more if in a war if you full bombard their planets until all pops are wiped out, then follow it up with a colony ship to claim it as your own.
Does it revert back to them once you declare peace? Or do you keep it after the war?
I want to make my own human empire because the two premade ones are shit (nomadic, really?)
What do you think the racial traits should be?
I was thinking natural engineers and agrarian maybe.
>>337420908
Protectorates get increased tech research until they reach a certain point compared to your empire. Then they become vassals. Which in turn can be incorporated into your empire.
>>337421045
I don't know.
Haven't tried yet, but I'm doing a militaristic run so I might.
>>337420652
Research so you can colonize all those red planets in your area. Many of them will be the same type - That's the one you want to get. Then kill your neighbor and commit genocide upon his species.

There's some interesting events associated with aggressive observation. A race of aliens that were venerable and quick learners were aggressively studied from industrial age to atomic age. Perhaps just RNG magic or maybe due to their traits that's considerable amount of progress in 50 years. I eventually had an event where I abducted their version of Einstein. They'd make great science leaders so getting their best seemed like a fantastic opportunity. Now he leads my society research.

They aren't super difficult to defeat but they literally start popping up all over the galaxy and attacks you quite unexpectedly if you aren't prepared for it. The AI tends to lose quite a few cities to them.
Wished they'd expand more on food/supply system, but I guess they're saving that up for the DeeElSee
What the fuck happened? I am steamrolling the entire galaxy with just 22k power. There is zero resistance. My biggest adversary is the slow framerate now that my ships are clogging up the sky.
I feel cheated out of my victory by my weak adversaries. My first ruler is still alive!

>make a few synths, grant them citizenship rights
>years go by, nothing happens
>they have godly research bonuses, bonuses to everything, really
>can live on any planet
>colonize a tomb world, which has Irradiated Wasteland as a tile blocker type, but grants really nice research adjacency bonuses if you don't get rid of it

You want to be at your limit for controllable planets. They benefit you the most. Feel free to dump crappy planets into sectors and pick and choose the best for yourself. It can also be helpful to have them close together, as it's an easily defensible core that can churn out ships to help you defend sectors under attack.
>>337424032
I assume all those cryo chambers require a lot of energy to power. Plus colony ships are huge and no doubt have a ton of things like seeds and shit in the freezer.
>>337424998
Yes, you can conquer Alien world, genocide the native, then inhabit it with your own people.

Are things like the speed of primitive progress and the liklihood of turning the planet into a tomb world at atomic age dependent on the species traits? They should be. Would help the player decide their approach to different species.
FYI nebulae have unique resources and events
They also normally have more resources in them than any other area of space
Always try to colonize them if you can
>>337424668
There are traits you can take that reduce the cost of participating in alliances. There needs to be SOME benefit to being a radical pacifist.
>>337424998
It's the first of their games where you can actually do it. It was even named Genocide in a beta version, changed to Purge

Is there a reason the AI never takes back worlds robots rebel in and also just let them migrate when the event starts? I'm fucking sick of cleaning this mess the retarded AI started.

It's the easiest, most casual game Paradicks has ever made.
>>337426020
It's even easier than a lot of 4x, the only thing that gets iffy is planet management once you get huge.
And how about performance? I have an integrated graphix card. Wasn't sure if this game was toaster friendly.

Yeah, certain fallen empires spawn with ring worlds
I want to be able to build them, give it to me, paradox
>>337426158
I defeated a Fallen Empire. They have some nice tech and some nice tech accessories.
When should you make a sector?
I started on Earth in the Sol system and every single habitable world around me is shit at no more than 20%, so I have only colonized two planets right next to earth.
But now I have found a planet a good distance from earth and colonized it. Should I just make it a sector or do I lose all control of it that way?

>>337426274
It wasn't a fallen empire. But this ring world was protected by tons of defenses. Supposedly being around for 78 million years. Each habitable ring piece had pre-industrial primitives. I conquered/enslaved 3 of the sections. The other one I will tailor to be researchers because of their good traits.

What kind of traits/ethics would a Slaanesh empire have?
What do I do in this situation?
Me and Jaqkly are bros, I even tried allying with them 5 minutes before but they were too nervous to say yes.
follofans are trying to make moves on me too, insulting me.
Can I send my ships in to defend them?
How the hell do sectors work?
Okay what the fuck do I do now:
I started with a science ship and it began surveying systems left and right. Eventually the officer aboard got 5 stars around the age of 60, and he had the fast learner perk.
While doing a anomaly survey as part of the precursor storyline, he was suddenly elected leader of my faction and disappeared from his ship. He then won the next election too, despite me using almost all my influence trying to get someone else elected to he could continue his research, but it didn't work.
He died of old age while in office and I have no way of continuing the survey. None of my new scientists can get higher than 4 stars despite constant surveying, so they can't continue his work and they end up dying.
What the fuck am I supposed to do.
>>337416003
Are you running this on toothpaste?
>>337426867
It's fine as long as they aren't uppity

I think I might have fucked up. My very first race I made were Xenophobic but Pacifistic, also Repugnant. Since I can't join up in alliances or federations, plus I can't/don't really want to go around conquering everyone, I've kind of stalled myself out of winning unless I just sit in my fortresses and let everyone kill each other or something I suppose.
In the meantime, I'll probably make a new empire that is perhaps more diplomatic while also being scary and strong, maybe bullying people into joining me.
Also has anyone done the opposite of a genocide simulator yet and created a super diverse race where all members are treated absolutely equally? As in all can be leaders, migrate freely, run for office, etc?

Here's a few things off the top of my head.
>Influence
It's extremely important for you not to freak out about your influence points. At first you will be exploding trying to figure out how to get more influence or how to limit it, but just keep in mind later it will basically be a non issue.
How to expand your borders the right way? You only need to build Frontier Outposts occasionally. When you find a nearby habitable planet; you simply colonize it and be on your way. Planets create their own borders over time and grow yours, don't worry about it too much unless you really want to snag an important resource-heavy system.
>Technology
The game doesn't do a good job telling you this; but as your empire expands your technology costs increase. A smaller empire has better tech development; but you can offset this by ensuring some of your new worlds have a few laboratories or tech-heavy systems as to keep yourself going.
>Combat
Combat is heavily based on countering your enemy's ships. Any glance through the threads and you will see people getting crushed by much smaller fleets due to having poorly designed ships or ships with weapons and defenses countered by the enemies. Some weapons are good against armor, some against shields. Remember to research and use point defense vs missile weapons and carriers.
>Planet Surface
Remember to try and place your capitol for a new planet in the middle of 4 squares as you gain an adjacency bonus (only to food, minerals, or energy though) for buildings built next to it.
>Diplomacy
Remember to rival people who you'd never get along with anyway (isolationists) to get more influence, but try to buddy up to scary people.
That's some basic stuff. Please enjoy.

Will they eventually come around to the idea of a federation? The game doesn't give me any hints that I should play some arbitrary waiting game or just cut my losses.
We are the Terran Star Empire, and the year is 2200.
115 years ago global society entered a third world war that was fought over primarily for access to water. Modern economic theories were unable to efficiently allocate such an important to life resource, with those who still had a surplus expecting fair trade and those who did not expecting to be given it. In the end both factions consumed each other in an orgy of violence lasting 7 years. With no end in sight, political leaders authorized the use of nuclear weapons. The commanding general of the Allies, Jonathan Carlyon refused the order and instead staged a coup d'etat. 2 years later, Carlyon led the allies to total victory and reorganized earth into the Terran Empire, crowning himself Jonathan Carlyon I. Human society was changed dramatically following the war. Popular sentiment blamed exploitive capitalism and corrupt democracies for the war which had killed a fifth of the human population even wihout the use of nukes. The new Imperial State seized on these sentiment in the formation of the Reformed Church of God Eternal, a state religion that fused a philosophy of Pacifism, anti materialism, spirituality and obedience to a divine monarchy in order to hold the fractious human population together.
2200, in the reign of Empress Elizabeth Victoria l Carlyon human scientists develop the first usable warp drive. Scouting of the nearby Sirius and Epsilon Eridani systems revealed two world perfect for human life. The first was named Utopia as a sign humanities optimism for a better future and the second was dubbed Wartani.
2212. Scout ships encounter sentient life. They are mammalian and resemble tall monkeys and are in alliance with what can only be described as crab people. Both societies are also pacifist and spiritual and first contact goes well. Many on Earth see finding not one but two sentient species that ewchew war as a sign that humanity is finally following the path of the eternal creator.

>>337432107
>space jews
2216. Piracy. The orbital stations in Al Rawaliea are attackes by pirates of an unknown species, raided and destroyed. In response, Empress Elizabeth chooses to recreate an organized military after more then a century of them being disbanded. 5 corvettes of the newly christened Imperial Star Forces are dispatched the Al Rawaliea under the command of Admiral Vasquez. The pirates were engaged and destroyed. Many argued that with the immediate danger past the corvettes should be scrapped. The Empress refused these demands and issued a divine decree that established the Star Forces as a small but permanent part of the Imperial Court, effectively overruling all opposition in the clerical establishment.
2225- several families of crab people request permission to travel to Utopia so that they could study human religious and philosophical texts. The Empress asceded to the request and allowed them to build a settlement on the planet.
2228- Explorers make first contact with a reptilian race to the galactic north. Unlike the Monkeys and Crabs, these beings are aggressive and follow a fanatic religion that preaches the glory of death in war and the eradication of all other beliefs. Xenobiologist dub the polity "Space Isis". When news of the creatures reaches Earth, Empress Elizabeth orders an expansion of the Star Forces in secret to avoid alarming the population at large.
2233. The threat of Space Isis prompts humanity to enter into alliance with the Space Monkey's and Crab People. The alliance called the Divine Concordat of Utopia after the world where the treaty was signed.
2238- Space Isis invades and enslaves a species that had only recently attained interstellar flight. The Terran Empire severs diplomatic relations and declares them a formal rival.

Colonize early and often, after a while you ll be pumping out like 10 colonists at once

2241- Space Isis invades territory held by fungoids on the galactic rim. Faced with the mounting threat, it was no longer possible to hide the expansion of the Star Forces. 3 Cruiser hulls were consteucted in orbit around earth and the large warships were visible to the naked eye on the surface. The news that the tiny force of 5 corvettes had ballooned to 50 corvettes, 20 destroyers and 3 Cruisers hit the Empires general population like a thunderbolt. As did the formation of the Imperial Star Marines, a force that was clearly not equipped or intended for self defence.
2242- The Fungoids surrender half their territory to Space Isis. In response, Empress Elizabeth convened an emergency summit of the Divine Concordat. The threat of Space Isis was too great even for pacifist people. War was declared.
2243- the Imperial Star Forces in coordination with allies defeat the Space Isis fleet at their homeworld of Archenar. The planet is secured by the Star Marines. Organized resistance rapidly collapses across enemy territory. Space Isis surrenders and agrees to free its slave worlds and submit themselves as vassalized subjects of the Terran Empress.
2244- with Space Isis now granting policy control to the Imperial Throne, a new colonial expansion wave is possible to the galactic rim, which beforehand was inaccessible beyond hostile space. Explorers find several worlds perfect for human life, effectively tripling the size of the Empire.

>>337430613
How do you maintain research times to an acceptable level? Just build a bunch of labs?
>>337432769
Labs out the ass, research outposts out the ass, those policies that increase research rate if you can afford the influence cost, research AI and put synthetics on your labs

I wanna reenact Isaac Asimov's Foundation. Can I:
>start a galactic empire in a universe where my race is alone
>end up controlling the whole universe
>have the empire collapse, letting every planet/sector become its own kingdom
>save the map & start a new game with that map, only this time I start as one of the planets on the very edge of the universe
>have extremely high science compared to anyone else
>start conquering everything passive-aggressively
I'm not actually familiar with the game, forgive me if the terms I use are incorrect.
If the above is possible, how would I best do it?
Is there any way to increase habitable planet generation? I'm tired of having to scrounge the area for one and then to find the few ones I find already having a primitive race.
>>337432870
Much more content than ES, way bigger game with fewer design flaws

Is it too tedious, like in other 4Xs ?

>>337432989
You would die of boredom before colonizing everything
Also, the base game is a bit like that, since everyone starts at the same level. You can try a mod that removes Fallen Empires, and put civilizations out of the wazoo. Giving yourself a huge tech boost would make it even more boring. You also can't expand peacefully as easily as in other Paradox games.
Is there a torrent of V1.0.2 up yet?
>>337432870
Much more open then endless space. Procedurally generated tech paths and species cause much greater variation in games.
And then there is the ability to meta game by naming everything and carrying out your missions and so on.
It is a paradox games so there are bugs atm. None are super game breaking though. All in all its a solid game and one that is way better put together then endless space.

How do I liberate planets
Since people were talking about it; create a race that grants all people into its fold- absolute freedom and equality for all.
I finally did it.
How severe it is to have lots of different ethics? I've only played with my purist empire and purged everyone who thinks even slightly differently, but I'm thinking keeping one species that I uplifted in my empire. They're pacifist, but they didn't mind at all when I genocided one pacifist species.
The /v/erdict i think is that Stellaris is a good game. Maybe not GOTY and it certainly needs bug fixes and willnhave future dlc.
As is though you will spend hours playing it vanilla and the inevitable mods will make it even more variable and entertaining.

Fanatical Spiritualist Militants. Gotta love those Space Paladins.
So is there any point to armies? I know they help you conquer planets faster but how longs does it take to just kill everyone via bombarment if you want to be a total warmonger?
All in all though I really love the legal limits on what kind of bombardments you can do and such. Really makes the game feel realistic and alive. Your citizens wouldn't tolerate your empire's war crimes unless very warlike, it's nice for realism.

My most successful fleet was Battleships with 2 kinetic artillery and 2 tachyon beams.
Cruisers with again Tachyon beams, and any other medium weapon except missiles.
And a squadron of corvettes with defensive combat computer, 2 point defense and any other weapon.
The exceptional range on the beams and artillery shreds to pieces everything before they manage to fire most of the time. Beams also have 90% accuracy so enemies with a huge corvette army still get their shit kicked in before they manage to do any damage.
Also the corvettes take care of any missiles and a lot of time are the first targets so your bigger more important ships manage to get damaged less.
For every Battleship there would be 2 cruisers and 2 corvettes.
This fleet ended up being excellent against any type of enemy fleet. I tried to do something similar with missiles but the first enemy I encountered with point defense managed to really fuck shit up.
